If you look at the weights though, Auguson Farms has 567g or peppers and the Essential has 104g. So with Auguson you’re getting literally 5x more by weight for half the price. Maybe I guess another test would be what the weights are after reconstitution and more importantly, flavor.
I bought 5 cans of the Augasson Farns red and green peppers after buying a sample can. They go a long way and taste great. Not near as fresh, but in a pinch or hard times ahead, this is a must have.
The question should be, " Why does the company sell this product in a # 10 can, when it is only half full?" Why not use a can that actually shows the amount you will be getting? It seems somewhat deceptive. (My opinion.) Thrive Life & the LDS store sell #10 cans full, ( dehydrated & freeze dried.) I totally get that once those peppers are rehydrated they will fill the can. But again, why not use a container that actually shows the amount you are getting? I believe that a newbie prepper may feel cheated after opening that can. It also depends on the price each company is changing for the same #10 can! If one has more product in it then the other, that makes one can fuller than the other. Can’t really compare if there is any difference in weight or what it is! Freeze dried or dehydrated! 👍🏻
kinda waste of space for a half can. i rather they fill it up and I pay slightly more esp if I don't have much space avail. that said, dehydrated ones are lighter and takes up less space compared to freeze dried...so idk. but I rather they fill the dehydrated ones up and sell it for more.

A little of it settling is understandable. A # 10 can half full seems a deception to me. ( I have received #10 cans from the LDS store completely full as well as Thrive Life.) They should be selling that amount in a smaller can so the consumer knows exactly what they will be getting. There is also the difference with weight with dehydrated foods and freeze dried. Machinery to make a can,seal it,and label it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars then you gotta tool up storage and shipping since you can't mix different sizes on the same levels of a pallet stack. Adding more expense. Lastly. I bet it is full to the top when packed or near it since if they could fit double and charge double they would. That would mean even more profit for them being they could sell more but only package in one can instead of 2.

Like is the A farms flavoring a recipe as well? Do you need more or is less working or the same amount for the taste effect. They also look more intensely colored... so is there added dyes or are they better quality peppers or does freeze drying just wash the Essential out and they're fine, just pale?
It's insane grid down preppers out here are struggling to prep. For example one can of mountain house freeze fried beef stew 460g is $80 Freeze dried chicken 480g $109 Freeze dried beef 482g is $124 Freeze dried bacon & eggs only 7 servings $76 The struggle is real, it's a preppers nightmare

You measure how much your getting by what it says the weight is. Of course one pound is not going to be that much. Weather it’s in a large can or smaller! Most companies use #10 cans for their long term foods, it’s normal.
It's by weight dehydrated peppers shrink more than freeze dried which hold more true to original size.
And very little nutrients for dehydrated.

You get FAR more from AF than EE. Hands down. one is fluffy the other isn't.

My cans were less than half. I put it in a half gallon ball jar, and had plenty of room left over. However it is a great product.

Dehydrated STILL has tiny amounts of moisture. Freeze dried non. Freeze dried much better value.

There were grumbles about Augason can volume going back to about 2019 and then as folks were prepping in 2020.
