2 strands in a 28, oh yes I have recently noticed that occurring. I recently (Christmas) purchased quite a variety of manufacturers and am doing my own testing. I had gotten spoiled by Pat Carson needles. They are no longer available, and while I purchased a pack of each size just before she passed, they won’t last forever. My preferred is the 28, I’ll go to a 26 if I’m using two strands. I feel like I’m wielding a pole when I use a 24, so that is strictly on Aida three or four strands. When I started stitching in th late 80’s I just bought kits. I discovered most of what was in the kits were John James, so naturally I started using them. Then after watching several videos and stitching shows I started getting other needles and trying them. Thanks being such great teachers.
I always enjoy watching and listening to you two delightful ladies. You both stitch such beautiful things. I like Adoption concept for your unfinished projects.
Adoption would look beautiful over my fireplace. Liz, it just so happens that I took out my Cardinal Points to work on. You have much more done on yours than I have. Ladies it was good to see you again. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Ladies! Great video as always. Thanks for the tips and info about needles. It was very interesting. I love Herman the Hedgehog! He's on my wish list and will now be my next purchase from Fern Ridge. I've been working my way through their fobs and in the last handful of months have completed 5 of them. Many thanks to you, Liz, for the tutorial you did quite a while ago. I watched it, made several simple fobs for friends, then started on the Fern Ridge Collections fobs. I love them and love to create them. Can't wait to see your finished "tuna can" project. It looks very interesting. I really enjoyed all of your wips and finishes.
Hi ladies, I really enjoy your videos everything you ladies work on is so beautiful I am brand new to cross stitch and enjoy all the information you both share .
So happy to see you wonderful ladies again. I would love to adopt your Stoney Creek piece. I’m partial to Stoney Creek bc one of my first cross stitch pieces was a Stoney Creek publication. And I live 3 miles down the road from Stoney Creek Beach. Liz, Herman is adorable !!! Debra- I can’t believe you are stitching 1 over 1 on 46 ct! You go girl!
I guess I'm an angry stitcher too because my needle eyes break all the time it seems, lol. Having very little metal in eye makes perfect sense, you only had to be said. I'm going to look for the Edmar needles for the cure. Thank you for the golden nuggets! Your WIPS are all beautiful and I look forward to seeing them progress. Seeing the stitching piece versus seeing a pattern makes a whole world of difference. The Mani di Donna, Blue Quaker Sewing basket, Rosewood Manor, Parchment and the Sekas Heart designs have all caught my eye. Also, I'm going to have to look for the Fat Quarter needle cases. what a brilliant idea. Again, thank you for all that you do ladies!
Of all the flosstubers out there, you two are a few of my favorite! I wish I could visit you both when I am up in PA! I see your getting an ice storm this week. Stay safe!
Thank you for sharing all your fun stuff with us and all the info on the needles, that was great. I would love to do a heart like the one you showed with the different stitches on it - very nice. Spring
It was fun looking at your WIPs. Thank you for sharing. I liked the needle talk, portion of your video. Very interesting. I’m like Deb, I only take 1 project to work on, at a retreat. I did love to be conceded for the adoption of Faith, Hope, Love
Enjoyed watching you ladies today. Would love to finish Faith Hope Love , ADOPTION project. Venturing out to different fabrics and flosses. Lots of interesting information. ❤
Another very informative video. Thank you! I've never used silks. I haven't wanted to purchase them & then decide I didn't like them so am interested in your adoption. It's a beautiful pattern. ❤
What a fun & educational video! Love those needle cases, stackables, & of course, all of the stitching. I purchased Comfort Lighthouse last year before going on vacation in OBX, to have something nautical to stitch on there. Little did I know that this is actually New Pt Comfort Lighthouse & it’s only a 20 minute boat ride from our house! Love a “meant to be” surprise. I can’t wait to see yours finished with beads & wish I had thought about that! Happy Stitching ❤️🪡🧵
Deb, I find Ocean State has the best prices around for pool chemicals and they have some really good prices on flower pots. Would love to finish your piece up for adoption.
Hi ladies! I was so disappointed to miss the stitching get together, especially since it was just up the road from me. I would just love to meet you both. I’ll stay tuned in and hopefully there will be more. Love you both and all your projects ❤
OMGosh I love your adoption plus I’m adopted….I have the perfect place for it snd they are my colors and I have never stitched in silk….and have always wanted to try it….
I very much enjoyed seeing your beautiful finishes and wips. So glad to see you back, ladies, your videos always make my day better. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for as always a lovely visit with you both. I watch you over a few days during my lunch time when I try hard to not reply to emails. It is so nice to see your progress on your work and always inspires me to pick up my stitching when I have a hiatus. I am so pleased for you that your stitchy meet up went so well.
Thank you both for another great video and sharing your talents with us. Liz do counting pins qualify as a "gadget"? I have heard of them but never seen them used. Can you show us how you use them? (if you haven't already) Snuggles and belly rubs to Ivan and Charlie. 🐾💕
Adoption looks beautiful! I was wondering if you all were ok. It’s been a while since I seen a post but it is a busy time it seems. Thanks for sharing with us Deb and Liz!
Just found you today. Enjoyed watching and learning. I like the John James Petite needles and usually buy this brand. Will check out other needles thanks to information you shared.
Another wonderful video, Ladies! So enjoyed catching up with you. What a wonderful idea the adoption program is! Also, the needle size information was a fantastic refresher for me. I use some of the same storage ideas as you do, but did learn some new ones. Thanks for sharing the love of needlework. ❤
So nice to see you both back today! Liz you looked well after your surgery and pray everything is healed up! I always learn something new and today was very interesting with the needle discussion and show and tell of different types. Thank you for that. As you mentioned Liz, Needlework Market is this weekend and I’m excited too to see all the surprises coming to shops soon. Happy stitching ladies😀
The only draw back to having vinyl bags is the pattern will have a tendency to stick to the vinyl. It’s nothing you have gotten on the pattern or did it’s just the nature of the beast. I’ve gone back to making all cloth bags because of that. Deb, your Montage is Stunning!!!!! Have a wonderful week ladies.
Great projects! I have Cardinal Points and the Carriage House chart in my stash. Trying to decide which to start next! I’m not picky about the brand of needle I use to stitch but for a 24 or 22 I prefer needles from Primitive Gatherings. Just as long as the needle size suits the thread and fabric, I’m good! I did pre-order 3 charts to make sure I got them. Happy stitching!
Not sure about any needles..I bought a pack each of 24, 26 and 28 Pat Carson ( now discontinued). Never broke one and don’t think I have ever bent one. But, I do use larger count linen and evenweave. 28-32 and some 36. I have used Bohin. No preference..I stitch most every night, but only have a couple year’s experience..maybe that makes the difference. I stitch in hand. Hoops only with embroidery. I am a quilter first (50 years), but absolutely love cross stitch. Always look forward to watching you both.
I absolutely love watching you two! You both look so lovely In his video! Love everything you both share! I absolutely love the bead work Liz and that Minnesota is stunning! Did you choose the charms yourself? Wow love love. I am new to stitching can you share what would be the way to try a new cloth to stitch in there are soOo many it’s overwhelming I might add my eyesore is not great. Thanks I’m advance. I am loving the adoption idea…so kind to pass on something you may not want to finish because I’m seeing I love and just have gotten bored of other things. Truly a clever idea! Oh the hedgehog is soOo sweet love your version much better. Dang I need to now research needles…so much to learn. Tfs!! God bless! -christine
Glad your back. I’ve missed seeing your video. Adoption is beautiful. I’d be happy to give it a new home. Deb, your montage is beautiful. Have a great week. Take care!
Have you advertised your get togethers to the Amish or Menenite communities? I bet everyone could learn something new. I've only ever used 28 needles. I usually stitch 2 strands. My favorite are Mary Arden, though those have become a bit scarce. I stitch in hand and tend to bend my needles after awhile. Thanks ladies. As always hugs for Ivan, Charlie and Hank.
Finished another ornament while watching this floss tube. You ladies inspire me. Trying to do an ornament a month, so far I am two for two. We will see how it goes. . Healing to you Liz. Surgery of any type is hard. Thanks for sharing the Montage with us, Deb. Your work is stunning. Wishing you a wonderful week. Deb, Northern CA (mountain area) will record 7 feet of snow by the weekend. I can not imagine that much snow!!!🙂🙂🙂
Deb I would be so happy to own the needlework project you are putting up for Adoption. That pattern is on my wish list and I have been wanting to try a project with silk threads. It checks all my boxes. So many lovelies to look at. The hedgehog fob touches my heart. And I was great full to have pencil and paper handy as there were plenty of enables. So fun to visit. Thank you.
Another lovely video! I think our version of the store you got the Sterilite case from might be called Big Lots here in California. West coast folks could try there perhaps? I am using Bohin needles right now, they're ok, I think I'll try some others to experiment. Until next time!
Thank you so much for the sunshine you brought to me on a rainy day in Seattle. So grateful to both of you for such an informative and fun video. You bring so much joy to all of us who love to create beauty stich-by stich.
Hi young ladies, I wonder if you could explain the different counts of fabric (like Aida and fabrics like that) I think I’ve seen some of your work and the holes look so tiny it makes me wonder if you find it hard to see where your next stitch is going to go. Best wishes to you both. Thanks for your videos. 💖💐
My first time watching. Love the adoption idea.
