The problem with the first guy is you should discuss it before you pick it up. The fact he grabbed it so fast made it look like he wanted to pay. That's why she was so suprised when he said he wanted to split it.
CJ Kismet A second comment about him that I disagree with...I don’t think there’s any rule that says that if you pick up the bill you’re going to pay for it. What should he have done? Agreed to pick it up at the same time as her? If I were him, the second she made such a fuss about having to pay towards the meal would have been the second I lost any interest.
I think when he saw the bill he realised he couldn't afford the full price. Did you not see the shock on his face. Maybe it was just me. In fairness its a high end restaurant in the middle of London the bills on average for two are gonna around £100 its obviously gonna be bit of a shock
@@mitchellbrough1615 Bill was around £80 since the waiter said it was about 40 each if they were splitting. Still, 80-100 is not an expensive dinner for two in a high end London restaurant. Plenty of places have 100-150 set menu per person, exclusing drinks. I'm not trying to come off as a snob, since I'm not but anybody that expects to pay a bill or at least part of ot should know roughly the amount before even seeing the bill. Menus have prices for this very reason. I've worled in restaurants for many years, the amount of people that have that 'shocked expression when looking over their bill is baffling. Never understood it.

@@red36100 yep , when I was dating years ago I lost count of how many inventive ways they found to get out of contributing, the favorite was going to the toilet when we were ready to leave, followed by " oh I forgot my purse", and the old perenial halfheartedly asking if you'd like some cash instead of just saying she'll get the drinks or go halves. Don't mind paying the majority but at least you feel valued if they at least offer to pay the drinks or something.

I agree. If I've been asked out and know I can't afford a big meal but rather just a simple coffee and cake, I tell them. I prefer to pay my own way on first dates and take turns paying for bits n pieces if you choose to meet up after that.

If you’re looking for an actual relationship, I still think letting out your life story is just weird, especially on the first date. 1st dates are suppose to be a “get to know you a little” experience + good time. If you’re already coming out on the 1st date with your kids and everything else, good luck getting a 2nd date. If you’re only there to smash, then you better keep your mouth closed and just have a good time.

It’s hella hard to date when you have kids. It just changes the dynamics. First couple on show the chemistry went bad the moment she said she had 5 kids. She’s experienced that multiple times guaranteed, and it sucks when you want to date but you chose to have 5 kids (maybe she was divorced and has 5 kids from it- having been a well meaning wife and mother to have her world completely change- in this case all the rejection by dates wouldn’t really be her fault).

She was totally unsuitable for me. Aged 75. looked 95. acted 17. I was told that there were 36 episodes made in total. 6 have been seen... my episode is in November....

I’m a woman and I always insist on paying for my own food. If the guy offers to pay, that’s lovely but I make sure to get his next meal so it’s fair. I don’t feel entitled to a meal if the dates goes well.

I remember my ex and I would most often take turns paying the bill, we both worked so could afford it, both contributed to rent, bills, food etc, both enjoyed each others company (at the time lol). When we first met I was asking her out and so picked up a lot of the initial bills, but she always offered. Then once we we'd been dating a while she mentioned she didn't actually like or expect me to pay every time and so we agreed every now and again that she'd pick up the bill. I saw no problem with it, she was happier and it was nice to be treated. There was one time in a café that she paid and the waiter said "no, no he pays the bill." I laughed it off but she went mad at him...we didn't go back there lol

When I would take a girl out on a date, I would go to the bathroom before the check would come and before I would hand the waiter, my debit card. Ask her to ring it up grab my card when I was done then go sit down. Once we were all done, I would ask if she was ready and usually the bill would come up and I would just say it’s already taken care of no awkwardness of paying the bill. Nothing like that get it out the way.
