- Based on the iconic bestseller by Tom Wolfe, “The Right Stuff” is an inspirational look at the early days of the U.S. Space Program and the incredible story of America’s first astronauts, the Mercury Seven. At the height of the Cold War in 1959, the Soviet Union dominates the space race, and America fears it is a nation in decline. Newly-formed NASA has the monumental task of sending a man into space, and its engineers estimate they need decades to accomplish the feat. They are given two years. Dubbed Project Mercury, the program recruits and trains just seven astronauts from a handful of the military’s best pilots. Within days of being presented to the world, the Mercury Seven become instant celebrities, forged into heroes before they achieve a single heroic act. At a time when many wondered if America’s glory days were behind it, The Right Stuff is an aspirational story about how ordinary human beings can achieve the extraordinary. As much about who we are today as it is about historic achievements, the series evokes the wonder of this singular era, when the free world looked towards a new horizon of hope as we first stepped off the bounds of our only home to venture into the vast unknown.

I came here for Colin O’Donoghue
They should add American Dragon Jake Long, Aladdin the series, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, House of Mouse and Yin Yang Yo on Disney+
Just wait they will add it....but one time at the time
Tony Gunawan ok 👍
Gerardo Rodriguez and Pepper-Ann too
@@gerardorodriguez7500 cause disney+ have a lot movie and series to add on their streaming services
Tony Gunawan I know I just like Disney+ is good as Netflix
ya'll I watched them film in my home town for thisss. 10/10 was really cool
No Pancho, No Chuck, but plenty of Spam in a can
It was really good
Isaac and Killian y'all
The original The Right Stuff from the 80s is one of the greatest movies ever made, why bother making a mediocre version.
Because why not?
Also, wasn't mediocre.
I came here for History
The series has a lot of history that some people are just afraid to confront
@@kbanghart good point ☝️
This whole scene barely works as the overly-melodramatic exposition it was needed to be. Nobody talks like that, though. Totally unbelievable as dialogue. Try harder, Disney.
It was set in the 1950s...
I mean, I think it makes you realize how much better the 1983 film is.
@@danielfolk5266 I wouldn't say better, I never compare films versus series because they're made SO differently. Yes the series had issues, but I like both.
Actually the scene is great.
@@kbanghart I just finished the series and I do think comparing the film to the series is like comparing apples and oranges.
It is 7:37 am in the uk for me and him
Tom Mason yeah, I’m just figuring out about that...
You’d probably be better off watching the movie from 1983. They actually used models and real planes for their scenes. This is just a bunch of cgi.
Both are good
NASA in these days did not exist yet, like the entry tells you when Shepperd rushed in. It was called NACA.
NASA was already a thing when the original seven were announced.
Yes It Did!
What’s the release date
Yesterday
Don’t waste your time on the series. Watched the whole season and it had nothing to do with the source book aside from the name and the names of the Astronauts and their wives. I’m sure that Mr Wolfe would not have approved.
The series was actually accurate.
Jeez it 11:35 for me why post now
its 7:35am for me...
@@WhatsOnDisneyPlus 06:38 in tunisia :p but i know you are from europe
What's On Disney Plus oh.
What's On Disney Plus for me its like aLmost sunday
james laffertyyyyyy
The original movie was better.
They're both good
Phelps 1247
AMEI❤
How they Write Alan Sheppard in this Is APPALLING LY DISCUSTINGLY SAD.
Why? I liked it
If you want the Real Alan Shepard, my suggestion is a couple things; Read "Moon Shot" done by Deke Slayton and Alan Shepard (plus there is a tv documentary about it on RUclips and watch "From the Earth to the Moon HBO."
What is this
It’s a Disney plus show
The original movie was already great. This looks meh
It’s actually quite good
@@Katie-nj1mp I agree
I agree too. Really enjoyed it
Ugh, terrible writing, one cliche after another.
Good writing
When Hollywood runs out of ideas...
Utah but it’s not that have run out of ideas, it’s that they’re scared for new ones because they don’t guarantee a billion dollars(freakin Disney)
@@johnnysvideos4846oh look, Disney is still successful
Unlike the movie, First Man, let's hope this is a actual representative film of american space heros. Hopefully there won't be a social justice agenda inserted scene of men being called boys, to tamper any chance of actually praising them versus emasculating them. If so I'll give this a watch.Time Will Tell.
I didn't like the First Man, I was disappointing the way Neil was portrait
@@larry7124 I agree. Only people who experience real men in person can do them justice in today's culture, which throws them away EVERY DAY.
I liked First Man a lot.
@@GUNMETALGUYUSA how does culture throw them away?
@@larry7124it was real
I don't think I will like this movie, so I will stick to Hidden Figures.
You should watch the 1983 film of the same name
It’s a show not a movie
All are good
