  • Under crisp blue skies and radiant sunlight, the sound of a lone whistle once again echoes through Blair County once more. With spring beginning to take hold of the northeast, the Everett Railroad would light the fire in their stout 2-6-0 mogul, #11. To kick off the 2024 season, the locomotive would be tasked with hauling the first "Cabin Fever" and "Steam Into the Cove" excursions out of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Come along as we follow the mighty mogul along the scenic views of the Everett Railroad's Cove branch in this springtime film "Steaming Into The Cove" by Keystone Rail Productions!
    History of Everett Railroad 11:
Everett Railroad 11 is a 2-6-0 Mogul built in 1920 by the American Locomotive Company's Cooke Works. She was intended to be shipped to Cuba, where the locomotive was to work in the sugar cane fields. However due to the unstable sugar market after World War I, she remained in the United States, laying dormant until being purchased by the Narragansett Pier Railroad, where she was designated as number 11. After 14 years of service with the NP, she then was purchased Bath & Hammondsport Railroad of Western New York. In 1949, 11 would be retired and stored in B&H roundhouse until the year 1955. In 1955, she was purchased for Dr. Stanley A. Groman's “Rail City” museum. Eventually, the locomotive would exchange owners again, even returning to her home NP rails located in Rhode Island. In 2006, Alan Maples of the Everett Railroad would purchase the Mogul for excursion service. After many years of restoration, the locomotive returned to revenue service in 2015, and to this day hauls many of the Everett Railroad's popular steam excursions and is even used in occasional freight service. In early 2022, the locomotive was converted from burning coal to burning oil and is expected to delight railroad enthusiasts for many years to come.
