A rare combination: a man who reads the scripture with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and brings great learning to bear on it as well. Enlightening to listen to even if you don't agree with all that might be said.

Much to learn from this man. Note well I did not say I agree with all his teaching. I just wish Christians would calm down and realize that understanding was not frozen Into a block of static perfection at the Reformation.

NT, I enjoyed following your thoughts on Paul and the templates you formed to give
a meaningful shape and context, making more user friendly to understanding the sometimes very confusing intertwined layers of separate threads leading to more than one principle or concept Paul is addressing simultaneously, losing all readers following his logic, metaphorical allusions and references from his world and time frame, except for those (mostly scholars) familiar with the subjects, the style and form of his writing and a patience towards perseverance, mixed with a tenacity and a willingness to unravel Paul's complicated, very original and deep rationalizations and explanations. Also, trying to stay with his emphasis, the difficulty compounded by sentences as long or longer than the one I just purposely wrote for demonstration.
Proof of how difficult it sometimes is to exit with what Paul intended is evidenced by reading the comments posted below.
NT, Paul is a phenomenon. He also represents the first fruit from the first fruit. His conversion is a template and demonstration of the workings and operational uniqueness and properties of this new Messiah Covenant. The indwelling Holy Spirit knows God's will and how to bring it forward through it's host who is willing to do God's will. Are you ready?

You managed to write a sentence almost as long and difficult as some of Paul's own sentences.

So the inspiration of God's Breath in Paul contains the tanakh that is pointing the Messiah Jesus and the grecoroman thoughts that harmonize with the tanakh in a universal perspective language.

Wish he would have addressed covenant theology. That all things the Jew was to look for was in Christ.

NT Wright is good. But I think Paul meant just what he said. There is only one God, who is the Father, the Father of Christians, the World, and Christian's King, Jesus. Jesus however, is our Lord/King/Ruler/Leader as opposed to Ceasar, much like David was Israel's ruler. I think this is the correct view.

Biggest difference in Apostle Paul & the 12 Apostles is Galatian 1:11 He was given a mystery of the gospel the 12 did not have. Which brought the gentiles the gospel of "Grace through Faith: & not the works of the Law, which came to a crossroads in Acts 15/ (Luke's version) Gal 2 (Paul's version) Peter backed Paul's gospel Acts 15:7-11, & 2 Peter 3:15,16. Received the righthand of fellowship of the 12 & told to remain with the heathen & they would remain with the Jews. Paul's gospel is 1st Cor. 15:1-4 is the finished works of the cross & faith in the shed blood (without the shedding of blood there is no remission) & his being raised from the dead for our justification. The Blood is the key to everything, the 12 Apostle spoke little of this. Peter said we were bought with the blood; John said the blood of Jesus cleanse us from all sin. Paul bring the blood out for redemption/sanctification/justification/righteousness/access to the throne of Grace, seal us until the day of redemption/no other Apostle does this & tells us how to take the body & blood of Jesus until he returns.

Gal 1:11 doesnt speak about some mystery. There is "mystery" found in Eph 3 and Paul says that the mystery is that gentiles will be part of God's people.
The 12 apostles and Paul all preach the same gospel message.
The other apostles didnt speak a lot about the blood because most jews understand the meaning of the blood and sacrifices unlike the gentiles audience of Paul.

    Hello
    One God the Father.
    No trinitarianism
I really enjoy listening to NT Wright on NPP, Abraham and the new creation
But I hope he gets away from what he tends to do to the Shema
Jesus is not God for Paul
Paul constantly refers to “the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Even “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Wright seems to know this because he often quotes the call to unity and quotes the verse about with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
Maybe he needs a new way to explain it, because he never conflates God and Jesus, but then does the “splitting of the Shema” idea
“He thinks now that while the first part of Paul’s statement is a reference to the shema and, therefore, a classic affirmation of Jewish monotheism, the second part-“for us there is… one Lord, Jesus Christ”-brings into focus Psalm 110:1:
The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”
This seems to me very plausible. The consistent story elsewhere in Paul is that Jesus is given lordship-given the name kyrios-as a result of his faithful obedience in suffering, and that this status will have future consequences with regard to the nations and to the final enemy death (cf. Rom. 1:3-4; 1 Cor. 15:24-28; Phil. 2:6-11).
So in 1 Corinthians 8:6 Paul is not saying that Jesus must be assimilated into an essential Jewish monotheism. Rather he is setting out the fundamental “Christian” response to the challenge of the dominant pagan culture: for us as heirs of Jewish monotheism there is one God, but this one God has given authority over the enemies of his people to the one who suffered, died and was raised from the dead. It is through him-not from him, as Dunn stressed-that these communities of new creation now exist. So I would say that the two part confession reflects the fact that this new creation has come into existence under conditions of eschatological conflict.”
Andrew Perriman in reference to James Dunn
    One GOD, the Father
One Lord Messiah exalted by that God over all creation
    Not two who are God
Again I listen to NT Wright quite often and have some of his books, it’s the idea of reworking the Shema and monotheism that I can’t get on board

Yet Paul referred to the Torah ,the very word of the Creator as "dung" Phillipians 3:8. Yet King David called God's instruction something that was sweet as honey but not Paul. That has always been a big "red Flag" for me. It's amazing to me how Pauline Christianity is so indifferent to that. I'd be worried when they take a boastful proud fella like Paul and lift him higher than Messiah Yeshua who said not one word of the Torah would be cancelled.

What a gross misreading of Philippians 3:8 and Paul's theology. In Philippians 3:8 Paul is discussing his ethnic birthright and lifetime accomplishments, which are as dung compared to knowing Jesus as Lord. He most certainly does not call Torah dung. In Galatians 3 he explains that Torah was good and given by God, but its task was fulfilled in Jesus. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 he says all scripture is God breathed and is useful... He simply cannot be rightly accused of having a low view of scripture. And as for boasting, in 1 Corinthians he teaches that his and our only boast is in the Lord, quoting Jeremiah. And don't forget, Paul's writings are equal with the Torah as the very word of the Creator - just as inspired by the Holy Spirit as anything written by Moses or any other human author of scripture. When you denigrate the writings of Paul, you denigrate Father God and the Holy Spirit.
