Shockwave Jet Truck
2009 MCAS Miramar Airshow
MCAS Miramar
Miramar, California
Friday October 2, 2009
Kent Shockley fires up the newly rebuilt Shockwave Jet Truck and takes it down Runway 24R at Miramar for a dry run. This newly rebuilt Shockwave features many more and much-improved safety features than the original. It is those safety features that were on the original Shockwave that Kent is able to bring to you this "second-generation" Shockwave.
I apologize for any bad color and/or vertical lines or American flag intrusion that may or may not be in this video. Unfortunately there were American flags that got in the way of the video during some critical parts of the videos and I have had some camera trouble throughout the weekend.
For those wondering what a dry run is, understand that there are a few acts the Shockwave Jet Truck performs at airshows across North America, and this also applies for every jet powered vehicle that appears on the airshow circuit.
A dry run, like this video shows, is simply the driver of the jet vehicle showcasing the vehicle to the crowd without any other acts in the air or in the aerobatic box. The vehicle and only the vehicle has the stage and the runway to do whatever show it wants (usually showcasing a lot of fire and smoke), and the dry run part is an actual firing of the engines to achieve maximum speed (or close to it) down the runway without any aircraft in the air. This kind of act is as popular during the day as it is during a night show.
Jet vehicle owners will also challenge a pilot (or two) to a drag race down the runway either while the pilot is already in the air for his/her act or will take to the air just to race the jet vehicle. Spectators are led to believe this is done on a whim, but it should be emphasized that this is a choreographed race that is well planned out and briefed prior the start, usually at the morning performers' safety briefing. The driver of the jet vehicle will brief with the pilot(s) to ensure the pilot(s) fly a safe distance away from the vehicle and at a speed at such to make the illusion the jet vehicle will win the race. Remember, this is scripted and not done off-script for the sake of safety. This kind of act is as popular during the day as it is during a night show.
Finally, jet vehicle owners will sometimes take some sort of role in a larger and more choreographed and scripted act featuring one or more aircraft in an amazing smoke and fire display. Examples in the past include the X-Team and the Masters of Disaster, to name a few.

на таком на работу точно не опоздаешь))) пробки и те не разглядишь)
:)
Ah yes, I remember watching this video years ago. Glad it's still here.
Saw the original shockwave (the red and yellow one) quite a few times, it is insane to see in real life. Even at an airshow with hundreds of planes, nothing is as loud as that thing on full burner.
If that hit a deer, there would be parts of that deer on every planet of our solar system.
ya lol!
You won the internet for the week with that zinger.
And cooked to a nice golden brown. .
Because gas is no fucking issue.
Jet engines use jet fuel, which is chemically made. Totally artificial, just like Nitro. C:
Justin Pedroza jet fuel is kerosene!!!
echschmidt Shockwave uses JP4 with 104 Octane Boost!!!
Maybe you're thinking of rocket fuel. Jet engines do not use rocket fuel. This guy is not using rocket engines.
I was so relieved when the commentators voice got wiped out by the noise of the jet engines haha.
Never tire of seeing these marvels of engineering and technology.
people challenging each others will destroy the planet or the world, i'm sure 100%
Yeah and make it a better place to live
merica
A rolling explosion. This is possibly the coolest thing ever.
I was there for that. It was sad. Until now I didn't know he rebuilt it! Def a good thing.
Announcer and music ruin it.

That'd be FUN on the road . . . Baltimore to Florida in an hour & a half, baby.
I saw this thing - - felt the instant blast of heat on my face when the flame shot out the back - - very funny and awesome at the same time - - glad I saved a place at the fence to see it

INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the hood scoop for the jet engine.
You are smart enough not to forget breathing.
Wow 😲 Congratulations

It is a fast delivery!!!
fantastic
Sick. Great video, the flags didn't bother me a bit, neither did the Blue Angels.
Ok that was sick.
damn lol just the acceleration at 3:29 is just amazing!
Because of the inclemate weather as to the Huge Marine Layer over the base on Sunday morning the 3rd we were lucky to be in the grandstands when this truck started his run , then seeing Kent Fire up those afterburners , Very Very Cool , then came to find out the truck burns ONLY 120 gallons of diesel every time he does his run ; Key Word , ONLY ! But It's exciting to watch on RUclips , But a hell of alot better Live and In Person !
Nice!
look if you here, you enjoy the video not sit here and troll, and b a hippie, we watched this because we enjoy cars and what they can do
whats chuck norri's barbaque gril doing on the back of that truck?
well the white smoke. How does it produce it?
Wow, ist das cool!
dammmm man nice truck..
I loved it
so does it have a trailer with wings or jets
Do you think the exhausts will fit on my ninja 250?
what you think that top fuel alchohol nitrous's and ol' gasoline and piston engines are better than jets and gas turbines?
Holy sit thats awsome
Imagine waiting for the green light behind that thing in traffic.
when I eat beans, I have alot in common with this truck
This is why I love America.
wonder what the gas milage is, like 16 feet to the gallon
The kitchen sink repair added 2mph :D
Whats he burning in the exhaust stacks?
I'm sorry Mother Earth, for allowing this beast to exist.
He could toast a crowd with that thing.
The best..
No waste of fuel. Last time I looked there was plenty jet fuel, around. I think it's really neat.
Im planning to buy this truck, but can someone tell med how much fuel it uses with the flames and full speed?
with this answer your on the same level as he is...congrats...
Do they make hybrid versions of these?
How bad was it? I was at one where only one chute deployed and yanked it off the runway...I didn't think anything bad happened.
Fantásticoo!
awesome
My favorite childhood video if anything I'm 11😜
i wounder how much fuel that thing uses per second when its going full out
this is madness
omg......think this was AMZIN...the finnal burst...
Now thats a sure fire way to keep tailgaters off you as you drive.
So how do i do this to my honda?
@MrWolframagnum Which Bugatti? There were many types of cars made by Bugatti.
Lets just say that if we were parked at a red traffic light i sure as hell wouldn't be the one behind him!
OK I'm only 10 but things like this are scary and the people who do it r awesome.:-D
Yes I do. I was referring to acceleration at takeoff.
How does it prduce steam at 2:20?
To quote Back to the Future, "If my calculations are correct when this baby hits 352 mph, your going to see some serious shit."
Just saw this truck run over the weekend at our local track. I was wondering the same damn thing. As far as I knew you can't accurately convert thrust to HP. But I could be wrong. Think I'm going to go ask this question on their FB page.
how fast was it?
I can't get it!
how fast wast it going?mph
is that raw fuel pillowing behind it???
