I've done a wheelie in an 8x4 Volvo FH13 540. Lower gears have more torque so as you lose the advantage of inertia you switch to using raw torque

That's because it gets heavier as it goes. The further you pull, the heavier it gets because the sled digs down into the dirt.
In the dutch competitions (like this one) the full pull distance in the heats is 110m then in the final its however long you can pull it for
