Uhhh...lyrical...trebles to die for...foundational bass...enormous character...responsive to light attack. This wood combo is special. Thank you!

The depth on that tone is stunning. I've played guitar for almost 30 years, and this is what I hear in my head when I play other guitars!

Stunning...a true masterpiece by the folks at Santa Cruz! With tone, and resonance like that, how do you manage to ever stop playing?

    Hey there Brother,
simple outdoorsman and guitarist from Redwood City,
you lucky son of a gun you, that is such a beautiful soul that piece of wood has to offer.
Thanks, I wouldn't soon afford anything quite as nice, (though i'm eyein me a sweet lil mahogany piece) but that was inspiring towards future considerations when I do.
    Peace n' Love
    Rick

Thoughtfully appointed specs on this instrument.
Notably the Honduran mahogany back and sides, I'd have gone with that. Perfect pairing to the Moon Spruce soundboard, exactly what's heard when played, buttery and melodic.
Brazilian rosewood bridge, back-strip and fingerboard look subtly contrasting and handsome, ditto the veneered headstock. Love the shape of that bridge, unique and clever.
Inlays. I would have chosen the same pin dot markers too, likewise the striking Santa Cruz inlay at 12.
Tuners, this is the part that inspired me to comment. Given that we work the tuners almost as much as the strings (at least I do!), they have to be custom quality. Gotoh are just so silky and accurate, tuning becomes effortless. Antiqued chrome and Madagascar rosewood buttons are the optimum, practical refinement.
The blue even matches your jeans and shirt Matt! Was this deliberate? If not, what a great touch.
Sound. Sweet chiming trebles, deep bass sustain.
Only ditch the gig bag and get yourself a nice hardcase for this beauty Matt.
    Only kidding!
    Congrats!!!

I know you were kidding, but Santa Cruz cases are custom just like their guitars. Incredible!

Matt, I would love to hear the piece that you played on the sinker redwood/koa lowden f50 from 2016 played on this guitar. I'm a huge fan of your work, recently listened to it while taking a train ride through Austria!

Looks like a J-165 body shape with long scale? I'm looking for a J-165 custom guitar from Santa Cruz or Collings or Bourgois. I love the gibson but want more overtones and clearer sound from that body shape...I like the short scale of the 165. Thinner neck and fretboard.

Hello from England, I'm a 77 yr old guitar player, acoustic and electric, pedal steel, ( not so hot) and mandolin. This is a nice guitar, but, if any accoustic guitar is put together properly with good quality wood it will sound good. Nice sound, but I can't hear anything extra special in its sound, as compared to any other good guitar. Unless it's my hearing packing up like everything else.
