When you talk about the 80s Tesla had many hits but they get overlooked in the conversation, imho. Ken, thanks for introducing these band to some of your younger viewers. Wonder how many heart broken teens listened to this in the 80s :)
Same with Y&T. I knew a HS friend of the band, dated my sister. ( super nice guy, I didn't have to whack him lol ) AND I got my 1st guitar from DM's Dad. Meniketti music in Oakland, an import Black Beauty LP. Wish I still had it 😢
The whole show "Five Man Acoustical Jam" is great, with the covers of "Signs", "We Can Work It Out" and "Mother's Little Helper" as well as their own songs. Jeff Keith, even with his current age, still sings great. Too bad he used to smoke a lot, which for singers is catastrophic.
I agree that smoking does nothing for your singing except take a toll on your high notes. Nat King Cole smoked because he thought it would have made his voice richer, but he died of lung cancer as a result. He was a still young 45 years old.
Jeff to me is one of the best vocalist of our time. Unique and gritty and always comes from the heart! Been with the boys all the way back to Citi Kidd. To add, Best Band out of the 80's.
Franky said in an interview w/ Delories Rhoads that it was Randy's "Dee" that inspired his intro to Love Song. Frank is such an amazing and under rated player.. he's incredible. Great guy too.. But definitely earned his paycheck w/ this solo and song that night. If I remember right this was an all acoustic show, so the electric solo here was like a surprise.. but this song really needs it. When they had an extra day off in a few cities they'd do a small theater acoustic shows.. This show was like 1200 people so real close guess on that Ken. But Tesla has always been a touring band. They do that kind of "one off" theater shows when doing major tours within the past few years when they toured w/ Journey, Def Leppard and Poison. If there's an extra day off in between dates you can pretty much figure there's going to be a theater show w/ Tesla too..
@@kentamplin Ha.. Hey that's what I'm here for.. My dad used to tell me back in middle school and high school.. My favorite band from that era and up there with my top faves. I've said it before and I'll say it til the day I die. Tesla is NOT a hairband. Frank Hannon is a monster on guitar. I've seen them probably 40 times, and I have never seen him make a mistake. I'm sure he has, it's just that I've never seen it. The band and the individuals are all class acts.
This was absolutely my favourite album of all time. I knew every single word. This was the last song of the all acoustic album where the electric guitar finally made an appearance
If there's a song by Tesla to be considered the best, this is it. Love this Song! Just a suggestion, Ken.. maybe you can do a cover of Love Song but sing and play the guitar as well. That would be fun and great! ;)
Tesla is the greatest. I have never been to a bad show. After all these yrs. He still appreciates his fans. If you get a chance to see them live, jump on it, you won't be disappointed.
Out of all their songs, it was an acoustic song that they didn’t write, that they didn’t plan on recording, that was one of their biggest hits. Nothing wrong with Signs, but they had better ones. Then again, most everybody back then had a power ballad that was their best seller.
I ADORE ADORE Tesla!!! Especially Love Song! Oh and Ken, there’s a lot of girls there because of all the HAIR onstage.....plus the music obviously:) LoL Have a Happy Day!
Ken I just discovered your channel not that long ago. I just love your spirit, your sweet demeanor & positive vibe. Your videos just make me feel good. Thank you !!! Thank you!! Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Love Tesla! One of my favorite all -time groups! I had their cassettes Mechanical Resonance and The Great Radio Controversy! Wore them both out, lol. Both of these albums are FANTASTIC!🎶❤
This song, as well as Extreme’s “More Than Words” were on the Monster Ballad collection album (it was actually a CD collection) that they used to advertise all the time in the early 2000’s. I’m 24 years old, so owning that CD is how I learned to love Tesla, Firehouse, Skid Row, Scorpions, Extreme, and several others.
One of THE best live shows I ever saw for musicianship and passion. The crowd was relatively small but they literally played their hearts out like we were kings and queens
I always listened to Tesla on the radio and liked their music but got a new appreciation when my friend bought tickets and took me to see a Tesla show. That same friend is a big Extreme fan and he sent me a text today telling me about a new Extreme album coming out. When it comes to late 80's music I also like Junkyard Simple Man
Tesla is one of the most underrated twin guitar attacks out there…I put them up there with sweet/fox (Stryper), smith/Murray (maiden), and gorham/Robertson (t’in lizzy)….I can’t get enough of Jeff Keith singing either. Guy just has a certain something about him. Hard edge rough around the edges while still being smooth as silk, a powerhouse full of energy but still delivers soft mellow moments when needed….and it doesn’t seem forced or trying too hard. Just comes off as natural that he really is feeling and loving what he does.
Tesla was the opening act at the first concert I ever went to, with Def Leppard. This was in '87 or '88, well before Tesla blew up on the national scene; their name was actually misspelled as "Tefla" on the tickets. Think I still have them lying around somewhere.
Glad you chose an older version 🙂 Was in the military when I saw them in Charleston, SC on their Radio Contraversy tour, with a young lady I met in a yogurt shop. Magical times.
Very gritty voice, definitely can tell who the band is if you hear them on the radio lol. Jeff Keith is one of the coolest dudes and frontmen ever. I just seen them in September. KIX, Jackyl, and Tesla. Jeff actually sounded great that show. Love Tesla!! Hannon is a LEGEND on guitar.
This was recorded at the Keswick theater in South Philly. It is a small venue. Great place for music. I saw a Genesis Tribute band there called The Musical Box. I thought I stepped back in time. Mind Blown.
Oh, that brings me back. Thanks, Ken! And I loved the long leadup to the actual song. Every note was settling my mind straight back into the 80's so that by the time the actual song began I was completely in the Tesla Zone! Great band.
Love and adore this band , THIS song Ken.........damn this song brings back GREAT memories. I remember David Vuick who I loved a long time ago. Lol. Thanks to him as he turned me on to Tesla. Totally underrated band. They are unique and can DEFINITELY rock! Love the channel Ken. 🤘💕🤘
I love Tesla! Great guitar work, love Jeff Keith's vocals. I love this song and Before My Eyes, Paradise, and I think they did a great version of Signs, too. These guys are great!

Thank you for doing Tesla Ken! Yes that bluesy rock is like the black Crows and they have their own style that's amazing! Mechanical Resonance was my favorite album of theirs
Me and my bff went to see trsla when they came to the legendary surf ballroom in clear lake iowa when this song was sang i sang this at the top of my lungs every word. I even wear my tesla shirt i got that night with pride. Tesla is a very good band with alot of good tunes. Jeff kept falling off his stool while singing and he was stumbling around on stage that night. My bff husband said you know he has a herion problem right? He walked off stage and came back and no more falling or stumbling. My bff husband thinks it's because he went backstage and did herion. I hope that wasn't the case but it very well could've been. Still great band from the 80s that i listened to alot and still do. I love how you give props to great under rated bands such as tesla because the younger people who watch you will get a taste of what real music is all about not like the crappy music we have today. Well we have alot of great songs today but not like we did in the 70s and 80s. Always love your reactions ken keep on rockin 🎸
Jeff has never been into heroin, and that's not how heroin works, anyway. He was more likely drunk and did a line of speed or coke backstage since either one of those will sober you up. I've heard.
Very cool! Recently I've been obsessed with this song and looked up to see what your take was on it. It blew my mind when you mentioned Janice Joplin. I totally hear the correlation there.
Thank you for your comments I get a lot from your POV. Jeff Keith's sound is very interesting and the entire band brings a lot of passion which I love.

Tesla was my favorite band in high school. Such a relief from the hair-pop-metal sound that evolved in the 80s. Songs with substance (Modern Day Cowboy, In The Hole Again), Freedom Slaves)they wrote great original songs had the capability to play covers that held true to the original with a Tesla twist (War Pigs, Do You Feel Like We Do, Bell Bottom Blues in addition to Signs and We Can Work it Out). There are some recent unflattering performance vids out there, but I would still go see them again.
Speaking as an '80s kid, I feel that Tesla was one of the more underappreciated bands of the '80s and early '90s. Loved these guys.
Definitely, matthbva!
Cause of all the hair bands that sucked. They got lumped in with them and they were a pure rock band not a hair band
Man, I remember when 5 man acoustical jam came out. I rocked that cassette player. Most uncomplicated days of my life.
Frank Hannon is probably the most underrated guitar player ever. He never really got the credit he deserved 😢
Thanks for the shout out to Frank! 😊
AMEN!!
agreed after watching this
I totally agree! Frankie is an amazing guitarist...and amazing horse rider...and an all around good guy. His momma raised a good man. It doesn't surprise me though because shes quite the lady herself.
Indeed. He's an awesome guitar player.
This entire acoustic show basically kickstarted MTV UnPlugged. It wasn't the other way around. Signs was a huge MTV hit and the success of the show followed it.
Thanks for the info.

Tesla is one of the most clean and loud bands that I’ve seen live. What a punch that band has!
😊
Man I wore that song out as a kid, love the long version
Awesome! 😊
Smoking doesn't help with anything.
I agree that smoking does nothing for your singing except take a toll on your high notes. Nat King Cole smoked because he thought it would have made his voice richer, but he died of lung cancer as a result. He was a still young 45 years old.
A lot of the old opera tenors other than Pavarotti would smoke before singing thinking it would help them hit the lower notes.
yeah , and nowadays his raspy voice sounds ,like it has lost the higher tones overall 🙄
One of the most underrated bands of the 80's. No makeup or theatrics, just good music, and harmony..
👍😀
Jeff to me is one of the best vocalist of our time. Unique and gritty and always comes from the heart! Been with the boys all the way back to Citi Kidd. To add, Best Band out of the 80's.

YES! I see them every time they come around here! Fabulous EVERY SINGLE TIME!
one of the best heartbreak recovery songs EVER ;)
Tesla ! Never thought they'd come up here. Amazing amazing band !!!! Vocal guitars...
😊😊😊
Just saw Tesla again they were unbelievable
Actually the Heart piece was Crazy on You, not Barracuda.
Thanks for pointing that out, Dean!
Nobody's perfect, other than that 1 guy 😉☝😎😁
I love this Song, my mom always play this song in the car, when I was very young.

Kristin Riviello 👍

And signs wasnt theirs...
After listening to Tesla and seeing them live two weeks ago, I find it hard to listen to some of the other bands anymore. Tesla is underrated bigtime!
Love this song..Tesla power ballad! Great anthem song and wonderful prelude build up to it!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😀
Very underrated band, they have so many good songs.
Indeed! Thanks for the listen!
I ADORE ADORE Tesla!!! Especially Love Song!

Thanks for sharing that with us, Remix and Karaoke!
This was before the Black Crowes. They are still touring, still sound amazing and still kicking ass. Nicest guys in the world!
Great to hear that, Rosie!
My battery from my Sony walkman died out pretty quick from playing and rewinding this particular song back in the days. They don't make music like this anymore :(
They sure don't, Jerry!
Thanks for reactions, Ken! Always a joy/pleasure to watch. Tesla are probably one of my favorite 80s hard rock bands. Some of their riffs really remind me of Steve Clark-era Def Leppard. I'm thinking "Modern Day Cowboy" and songs like that.
Thanks so much for listening, crushedinfamy!
A waird opening, he was all over the place, at a point he sounded like a video game on his guitar.
Liked his voice . Very good performance
Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended!
Amazing. Great pick Ken Tesla is awesome
Agreed!😊
amazing lead guitar playing by Frank and an amazing song
😀
Jeff is great. This whole concert was great (5 man Acoustical Jam) too. Tesla was/is a Great Rock band.
👍👍👍
Oh how many times did I cry over random boys to this song...💔😂💔
Sunny W. 😢
Frank Hannon is bad ass lead guitar 🎸 player and he shows you ever time they never ever disappoint!! I have seen them 18 x
💜
You're a cool guy very nice keep up the good work
I appreciate that!
Thank you for doing Tesla Ken! Yes that bluesy rock is like the black Crows and they have their own style that's amazing! Mechanical Resonance was my favorite album of theirs
Glad you enjoyed it.
So glad you did this. It's one of my parents "songs" like their special song.
Thanks, Violet!
I absolutely love them ....greetings from Greece everyone 🥰🥰🥰
So do I, Rosie!
Great underrated band, very cool video to this song.
Glad you liked it!

OMG! THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Although this song is a bit forgotten I think its timeless and all around well written and performed.

Thank you for your comments I get a lot from your POV. Jeff Keith's sound is very interesting and the entire band brings a lot of passion which I love.
Great to hear that! 😊
I Soo enjoyed all of this 😍😊!! 💗💗💖💖
Awesome!
Thanks Ken. I'm glad you did Love Song
👍😀
Ken looks to have fallen in love with the guitar again right before our very eyes 😂 lol
Rock on!

😊
Hi Ken! Buena musica,Gran guitarrista el de Tesla y su cantante wow, tiene una voz desgarrada, me recuerda un poco a el gran Steven tyler👍🎤🎸🔝
Antonio Ruiz Muñoz 👍
A lot of the Black Crows similarity, although, this album came first. Maybe The Black Crowes were Tesla fans. 😉
Could be...
If you match the Black Crowes with early The Faces, it's almost identical. I think Chris was a Rod Stewart fan.
I’d love for you to please react to Tom Keifer. That guy is also a beast on the vocals and an overall talented guy.
Thanks for the suggestion. 😀
The Moscow Peace Festival was a great one of Cinderella🤘🤘🤘
