Thanks for the help great instructions just want to add when replacing that rubber piece make sure you not covering your 3 prongs the 3 prongs have to go thru the hole it happened to me then I figured out one of my prongs was covered by the rubber piece 😨
Hi Sam! Thanks for the vid - my driver's light went out as I was on my way home and I swung through a gas station at 9 pm to put my new bulb in and I wouldn't have figured it out without your video!
Your instructions seem pretty straight forward but I'm stuck on step 1, I tried with all my might to pull the connector off, it wouldn't budge. I tried for half hour with no luck, it started getting dark, will try again tomorrow. I feel like being a girl I have no grip strength doing this and I don't want to break something :( This is a 2001 Solara, first time trying to replace the headlight bulbs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I did it :D I had to use a small pair of vice grips to grab and wiggle it loose finally, it was on there really tight. Then the rest of the process is simple. Only had minor issue with plugging it back up and used a small flathead screwdriver to pry away the rubber boot next to the area for the 3 prongs to fit back. Both took me about 30 minutes to complete and that's with taking my battery completely out. Yay!
A 1999 is exactly the same. Thanx for the info. Glad I looked here first. Still had to remove the batt, holddown (not the batt.) as my fat head and hands didn't fit.
@@HandymanSam when I bought it had 60,000 now it’s got 119,000 on it. I bought it I think near Johnson city or Morristown the year prior. I can’t remember what town it was tbh lol
Wish I found this video before the dealership charged me $12 for the headlight bulb and $58 for the labor to replace it! In other news, you the man Sam, keep the Solara Vids coming xD!
Sounds like you might need a new bulb. Sometimes when a bulb “burns out”, the filament doesn’t totally blow to pieces. Sometimes it only “breaks” or disconnects from one end inside the bulb, and sort of acts like a spring. When this happens, sometimes you can hit the light just right, and the filament will temporarily bounce then reconnect, allowing electricity flow which makes the bulb work again. I know this because I hit my light a while back just to be able to get home, and it worked. Took the bulb out later, and sure enough the filament was only broken from one side.
I don’t believe so. But from what I’ve researched, all you have to for your car is turn the bulb counter clockwise slightly, then pull straight out. You’d then press the wire connecting clip to the headlight bulb and disconnect.
Thank you so much 💙💙 someone just tried to charge me $100 and I already bought the bulb .. Thank you for this video!
Very happy to help :)

Can you do fog light bulb replacement?
Unfortunately I no longer have the car :(
Bro do you live in Tennessee?? That solara looks exactly like the one I bought last year
Billy Mason Hugh Reagan yes I do!
@@HandymanSam I asked because the solara I have had the same chipping on the grill
Billy Mason Hugh Reagan it could very well be the same car. How many miles are on it?

Billy Mason Hugh Reagan definitely not the same one then lol. The one in the video had over 230,000 miles on it last oil change I did on it.
Vary helpful thank you
You’re welcome!

Louis Saunders I’m glad you enjoyed!
Might be the other way around cause the bulbs are like 18 a piece
My bulb, the front right, it starts only when I hit it with my fist ✊, would that only be the electrical connector?

Will this work on my 2005

Does that replace the small lights on the bottom? Or how can we replace those?
What’s the number of the lights?
9003
can u do a video on how to change the interior bulbs and a plasti dip video on the stock rims
I don't know much about plasti dipping, but I could probably do an interior light video sometime.
For 2002 solara all I needed to do was unplug connector and then twist then pull, out comes bulb
