I've been staying in a cottage in that village several times a year for over twenty years. And in fact, despite having been all over the region - around the Rhinogs, up and down Cader Idris from all sides, a huge number of trails around Dolgellau - walking through those woods and up into the quarry above is still one of my favourite things to do.
Found this today! The rain has been pretty consistent over the last few days and as a result it was ferocious! I think that with that enormous cave it needs to be know as Dragons Lair or something. Absolutely incredible.
Greg, after nearly 30 years of staying in Abergynolwyn, today was the first time I've heard of "the secret waterfall". I regularly walk up taking my breakfast with me to the Quarry, sit on the top of a slate waste pile under a small Rowan tree I have watched grow, taking pictures year round, and just take in the views while drinking my coffee. I call it my little bit of heaven up there. So, now, challenge on, I have to find this waterfall. Obviously recognised your walk all the way until the last important bit and the scramble down.. but has to be done. Thanks
I did take a bit of a detour at the last part Jayne. Had no idea where I was going and the trip over the top of the quarry was unnecessary. It was much easier coming out but I wouldn’t know how to explain the route needed. Good luck in the search, definitely worth the effort to find.
Amazing Video, very well captured. some of the best shots I've seen. I Love Nature, especially Waterfalls and Mountains. and I am actually so impressed by your videos that I have started making RUclips videos, Thank you and all the best. thank you for sharing
Loved your 52 weeks of awesomeness which is now explore with Greg. So you have a van for overnight stays. I am thinking of getting a T4 or T5 next year and start camping and getting out the big city. My only question is wear do you crap lol?
It’s weird mate, when I am away it’s like I’ve got a plug up there as I don’t really need to go. I did find a good website though called pee place which I used a couple of times.
Hi Greg, love this video. I have recently moved to this area and have wondered where the secret waterfall is for a while. I must have been close without realising it as I have done this walk a few times!! Can you give me one clue please? Do you have to climb a fence to leave the main path???😊
It is hard to describe how to get to it. I climbed a fence but actually got lost and ended up cutting my way through some heavy bushes to get there. I’m sure there must be an easier route but not sure where. The best advice I can give is to listen out for the waterfall as you can hear it quite clearly and that will guide you. Thanks for commenting and good luck, hope you find it.
@@gregin8er thanks Greg. I’m determined to find it now!! I’ll go up when the wind isnt so strong(its very windy today) so I’ll hear it. Kind Regards, Phil
@@busybee8882 have you found it? I went on sunday and it was amazing. Missed it at first well i was at it but above it then found the way. Walked out a lot easier way. Next time I could walk straight to it. It’s actually easier to find than you think
That's great that you found it. I found getting in difficult but found a much easier way out. Bet it was quite impressive yesterday after all the rain recently.
@@gregin8er 😂😂 I’ll let you off then 😉 still it’s a really nice walk and definitely pays off at the end but like you said I’d not share the location either tbh
Why you're putting directions on for secret waterfalls I'll never know, the clue is in the word SECRET I just don't get it before you know it it will be as busy as Aber falls and that's what we don't want. Please try and think next time before you post
It’s hardly a secret, took me about 5 minutes on Google to find it. I also think that nature should be enjoyed by all, not just a select few. If I can encourage someone to get out and enjoy places like this because I’ve showed it to them, I will continue to do so.

That sounds like it was awesome Sam. I’d like to visit again after a downpour. Liking the name too.
Dragons eye ? If am right its not far from St Josephs seminar ?
magnificent

@@gregin8er Thanks Greg.
So beautiful and tranquil, great exploring vid.
Cheers, it is a lovely walk, especially early in the morning when no one else is about.
Cracking video I’m heading there tomorrow 👌🏻
Hope you have a great day, it’s an awesome place to explore.
@@gregin8er yeah what a place loved it 👌🏻🤟🏼

Just come across your channel the secret waterfall. It's something i enjoy doing myself,
and this is definitely one for the diary .
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for sharing worth a sub just for that. The falls on the way up for photography interest me more I think . Well done 👍
Thanks. If I had a decent camera with me I’d have definitely spent more time on the route up, lots of great little falls and pools to photograph.
Enjoying your videos. From the start point to the waterfall how long in hiking time was it, thanks
Can’t remember exactly but less than a couple of hours. I think it was about two miles but all uphill on the way there.
It's actually quite easy to find...
There was a big collapse there a few years ago though

We found it!!!!
Cool, I bet it was flowing well after all the rain lately.
Went there yesterday with 2 mates and we found it after an hour

Very very sneaky with that video 😉 good way to send people in the wrong direction
