I like the maison fauve swing dress to show the design of the fabric, also the Style Arc dress would also great. Shirt dresses never go out of style so you would get a lot of years enjoyment out of it.💜
The Lyra dress (without ruffle) would show off the whole print much better I think. No middle seam and you know it and love it. Whatever you choose......enjoy.
The palmer dress would be great as you could wear it at anytime of year if you put a long sleeve T-shirt or turtle neck in lots of amazing colours from the fabric.
calvin dress!!!! the style will not compete with the busy print and the print wont overwhelm you with being too closed up near your face...place fabric at different levels on you,(e.g. face, neck, shoulders etc ..) omgosh i want to make something with it..😁...that print deserves elegance lol....i think you will wear any pattern you pick very well...love how much you love your makes...tfs:)
I think as you know you love it and will wear it, a Lyra is a great choice! Plus it might be easier to cut out as it has smaller panels. But whatever you make I can’t wait to see the fabric made up as a garment! ❤
I know I'm a little late. I would do the Maison Fauve dress, cut on the bias. The pattern is random so it won't matter. In fact I would place everything so that it is random. I absolutely love the print. Hope you had a lot of fun making it and I can't wait to see what you came up with. ❤
I am voting for the Style Arc pattern, I couldn’t see the name of it, but it’s a shirt dress or the Lyra with the long billowy sleeves, if you have enough fabric.
Gorgeous fabrics and I love the one you’ve picked! I’d go for separates to get more wear out of them - a slip/bias sort if it’s ok with pattern direction - and a cami. X
Hi Ruan, the palmer would be nice but have you 11:04 considered the seasons of east summer in New York dress, has nice long uninterrupted panels. The stitchbird dress is also nice for the same reason. Going into a/w longer sleeves might be useful ie reeta shirtdress with long swishy skirt and lengthened sleeves. Good luck with it, Angela
I think the buffet ruffle style dresses have had their time, whereas the Palmer dress is timeless and your first version was absolutely stunning on you. Plus less cutting into the design. Good luck and can’t wait to see it. ❤
Love all three fabrics, but especially the one you picked. It is unique and so special. (I thought you would go for the Saltwater slip..haha). Of the ones you mentioned, I think the Palmer or the Mia are my favourites, but I think it would be a great Zadie jumpsuit, too. Have fun! Can't wait to see your results.
It's said that the busier the print or complicated the print goes well with a simpler pattern. And that the non busy or that the solid or non loud fabric goes well with a more complicated or involved pattern choice. So that the print stands out more than the pattern.
I love the fabric and definitely the Style Arc dress. You know how it fits and you love it. I'm not participating in the challenge because i just don't know what to do with my precious fabric. I did some alterations for a friend before she went on a trip to Bali. In return she bought me 2 pieces of gorgeous Bali wax print fabrics, one in orange, the other in pink. They are stunning and i just don't know what to make. Your fabric is so unique and so you.
I love the rainbow fabrics fabric so much. I made an Esti set out of it last year and I wear it on repeat. I get a compliment every time I wear it, everyone loves it. Out of the patterns you suggested I would say the shirt dress but I’m sure any would look fab 😊
Definitely the Calvin dress because it is a simple, yet long length design, so it would let the fabric pattern stand out. You could wear it so many ways for different occasions.
I’m glad that you’re going to use that gorgeous unique fabric. Love your pattern choices, too. Other than its front button placket, the Palmer wouldn’t interrupt the print much. For a bit of drama, perhaps you could also wear it as a long duster over something like your Rydal jumpsuit or another solid colour dress? Whatever you choose, it’s going to look fabulous. Happy sewing, Ruan!
Personally I would make a midaxi circle skirt to wear over black leggings in the pineapple/banana on black fabric. Or possibly a reversible poncho. Out of the pattern you’ve picked out I’d pick the Nell dress with long sleeves. What a difficult choice 😳
The Style Arc Palmer dress. It's obvious how much you love this dress, and you'd get the wear out of it because you love the pattern so much. It will show off the print of the fabric, too. 😊
Such a lovely fabric! The Lotta dress could be a possibility so not to break up the pattern too much. Also, I hope Tamlyn uses that fabric too as it'd be interesting to see different clothes in it 😊
My 2cents worth is to make either the Lyra or Palmer, as you love both of these patterns, and these dresses will ensure you are able to wear the dress more. Enjoy sewing the precious
The Style Arc dress would be amazing but I’m guessing the pieces will be too big due to the cross grain issue. The Lyra would show the fabric off beautifully and I could see you wearing that a lot xx
Fleur would be good because you are confident with that pattern. You have sewn it recently so you know what size. You can easily cut the fabric horizontally for the skirt part. Or a bias cut pattern - if the cut the fabric on the bias how would the pattern look then.
I immediately thought the Saltwater slip dress as such a summery fabric, design wise. I liked the second fabric for the blouse pattern you made with the open back. Thinking the shirt dresses might be too detailed in that third fabric. I do like the look of the Palmer dress pattern too. Have fun deciding 😊
Hi Ruan. I love that fabric of yours. I really like the Mia blouse in the dress version, as the simplicity of the dress would showcase that fabric superbly. The other patterns would be lost in the detail of the fabric. Good luck with whatever you decide. You will love being able to wear it at last. ❤
I think you should stick with a pattern you have made previously, either the Style Arc or Maison Fauve dress, both would show the designs off best without too many seams. Good luck & can’t wait to see the fabric made up. I have a number of fabrics that would fit this challenge but at the moment am sewing up dresses for the Project Dress a girl 24 which take priority. ❤
As you mentioned, your dress selection will depend on if you have enough fabric to fit the pattern.... it seems you are quite taken by the Fleur dress and its features. I always find it the hardest part of sewing anything, just deciding which pattern fits which fabric! I get stuck at this step all the time...pretty annoying! Im looking forward to see what you end up with. ❤
With a wrap dress you might be able to get the print going where you want it. The dress needs to be a little bit “tribal” to do the print justice. Perhaps a large ruffle or two that would accommodate the angle of the pineapple. And not too short because of the interesting, but large print. Your wrap pattern with the string shoulder straps would look stunning with a matching shawl/scarf if you have enough fabric 😊 Just my thoughts ❤
Hi Ruan I think the 👚 dress 👗 but could you pattern match down the front so when you close the buttons the pattern carries on whatever you make it will look fabulous Dawn xx
I personally would choose the Maison Fauve dress because the pattern detail would be more visible, but I totally get that it is probably too dressy to wear frequently. So my next choice would be the lyra, again to not cut the pattern up. I do not have any precious fabric, I have plenty that I gave no idea what to make though. If I get a precious fabric it constantly shouts at me and becomes my total focus until I have made something with it. I always make something new too without a toile. By the way, be careful where you place the hand print on that fabric. I think I would probably cut it on a single layer, just to be sure.
Inspiring challenge indeed. Like you, I don’t have super expensive fabric but do have fabrics I love that I keep changing my mind over what to make as I want to make the most of it!! Also like you, I rarely make a toile but mostly get away with it because I spend loads of time on measurements. No. 1 and No3 do need larger pieces as you say and I agree with others that the swing dress would be fab or maybe the Puff and Pencil panel dress with side ties? Calvin wrap would also be great. I am sure whatever you make will be worthy of your precious fabric. Enjoy your make 😊. Lynne
I love that fabric so much ❤ I think either the Lyra or Fleur dress in it would be amazing. Can’t wait to see this made up! It was such a popular fabric but I’ve never seen anyone make it up as yet 😅
Hi Ruan. Great Video as always what an exciting challenge. I would definitely turn the fabric into the Maison fauve pattern. That is such a wow fabric and so is the pattern I think it'll be fabulous dress that people will look at say wow where did you get that dress 😅
Hey Ruan! Lovely fabrics and great pattern ideas. I think you've got the right idea - stick to a pattern you've made before that you know fits and you'll wear and wear 😊
I love both dress patterns but I wonder if out of that fabric you'll be able to get the long panels you will need for the shirtdress since it is on the crossgrain.
The only one I could see that fabric in is the Lyra - you love that pattern, as a solid skirt with the single tier you would really see the pattern. With tiers and buttons on the skirt of any design, I think it would break it up too much and the fabric is the star of the show (not the dress pattern). Plus, with Lyra, it can be dressed up or down and you'd wear it loads (you don't want to make that fabric up then never wear it) xx
Hi Ruan ... I think the Lyra ticks all your boxes and you wouldn't be nervous with your precious fabric as you know the pattern inside out. PS Just make sure your pineapples aren't upside down unless you want to put a certain message out there! 😉🤣
I think the Style Arc Palmer makes the most sense, since you want something you'll wear all the time and you already know that you love that pattern
I think the Palmer dress would look stunning in that fabric and would be wearable for most of the year.
Think it would look wonderful in the Palmer! But it’s gorgeous it will look great with any of those patterns
Go for the palmer. You could wear it in the summer or with thick tights and a cardigan in the winter. Lots of chances to wear it. ❤
I would go for the Palmer. The pattern is simple and shows the fabric even better than ruffled panels.
If you choose one with a waist seam you will have more options with the length. As you love the Fleur, I would go for it ❤❤
Love the Madison Fauve dress asi think it would showcase the print well …
sew the maison fauve Mia pattern in the fabric with the eyes and banana. The Mia pattern seems floaty and wonderful for such an amazing fabric!
The Fleur dress would be my choice because of the way the pattern on the fabric is printed ❤
I like the maison fauve swing dress to show the design of the fabric, also the Style Arc dress would also great. Shirt dresses never go out of style so you would get a lot of years enjoyment out of it.💜
Go for the Fleur dress!
I’d go for the style arc pattern , the fleur dress or the Calvin. Another dress I like is the Elodi wrap dress by closet core patterns. X
The Palmer Woven Dress....definitely! I thought that your first one was stunning!
Palmer is nice. The fleur is so full the print would be overwhelming.
calvin dress!!!! the style will not compete with the busy print and the print wont overwhelm you with being too closed up near your face...place fabric at different levels on you,(e.g. face, neck, shoulders etc ..)
omgosh i want to make something with it..😁...that print deserves elegance lol....i think you will wear any pattern you pick very well...love how much you love your makes...tfs:)

All of them would look great but I think you would get most wear from the Style Arc one or the Lyra 😊
I am voting for the Style Arc pattern, I couldn’t see the name of it, but it’s a shirt dress or the Lyra with the long billowy sleeves, if you have enough fabric.
Great fabric and the Palmer dress is my pick. Cheers
Gorgeous fabrics and I love the one you’ve picked! I’d go for separates to get more wear out of them - a slip/bias sort if it’s ok with pattern direction - and a cami. X
I say go for the Style Arc dress!
I think the Palmer would be great! Good luck!
The Madison Fauve dress would be stunning in that fabric.

I think the buffet ruffle style dresses have had their time, whereas the Palmer dress is timeless and your first version was absolutely stunning on you. Plus less cutting into the design. Good luck and can’t wait to see it. ❤
The Palmer would be perfect for your fabric and you love them both!
I like the closet core dress or a pattern that you have experience with and let's the fabric speak for itself.
I love love love the Lyra on you.. My all time favourite dress
Love your fabric choice, I'm thinking out of your last 3 patterns, you will
sew up the first one 😊
❤
Hi Ruan, the style arc dress would let the fabric shine and it's suits you so well that you would be sure of wearing it. ❤
It's said that the busier the print or complicated the print goes well with a simpler pattern. And that the non busy or that the solid or non loud fabric goes well with a more complicated or involved pattern choice. So that the print stands out more than the pattern.
oooo I think the Style Arc Palmer dress would be amazing! Looking forward to seeing what you eventually decide on 🙂
Hi Ruan, I think the Style Arc pattern will show the fabric off well 😊
I love the fabric and definitely the Style Arc dress. All great patterns the fleur gets my vote
So many beautiful fabrics! I love what you've picked and I can't wait to see it made up!!
The Mia or the Fleur are my picks. I think you need a large area not broken up with a seam to make the most out of the scale of the print.
I like the Fleur with the ties. It also has a more flowey skirt than the other option.
I love the idea of a shirt dress.
Personally I would make a midaxi circle skirt to wear over black leggings in the pineapple/banana on black fabric. Or possibly a reversible poncho. Out of the pattern you’ve picked out I’d pick the Nell dress with long sleeves. What a difficult choice 😳
Fabric 3 is a fun print. Style Arc dress would be perfect, opened with t-shirt and jeans, or cover up for pool and casual wear.
I think the “Fleur” or the “Mason” would be beautiful in that!! ❤
i just bought the palmer there so thanks, and yes the palmer x
I think a dress is the best choice to show off the fabric. I vote for the fleur dress. Good luck. ❤️
The Style Arc Palmer dress. It's obvious how much you love this dress, and you'd get the wear out of it because you love the pattern so much. It will show off the print of the fabric, too. 😊
Fabric 1 is my favorite
Such a lovely fabric! The Lotta dress could be a possibility so not to break up the pattern too much.
Also, I hope Tamlyn uses that fabric too as it'd be interesting to see different clothes in it 😊
Hi Ruan...I think the Calvin wrap dress would show off your beautiful fabric the best and wouldn't be too fancy to wear a lot. xx Karen
Definitely the Palmer dress! X
I love the Fleur
Hi Ryan, my choice would be the Mia Dress. The fabric speaks for itself!
Regards, Laura 💜🐨
What about a swing dress to show off the jazzy pattern?
The Palmer would look fantastic.
Palmer, because it will show the fabric off the best, you can wear it for all occasions all year…and you know you love it
Fleur would be good because you are confident with that pattern. You have sewn it recently so you know what size. You can easily cut the fabric horizontally for the skirt part.
Or a bias cut pattern - if the cut the fabric on the bias how would the pattern look then.

Thinking the shirt dresses might be too detailed in that third fabric. I do like the look of the Palmer dress pattern too. Have fun deciding 😊
Because you love, love, love the last fabric, you should make the Fleur Dress because you love, love it 🥰 and it would look amazing 🤩
The Fleur may allow you more pattern placement options.
Hi Ruan. I love that fabric of yours. I really like the Mia blouse in the dress version, as the simplicity of the dress would showcase that fabric superbly. Fabric 2 is rich, luxurious and beautiful !
TATB Lotta - the print would barely be broken up!❤
I think the Palmer. More wearable.
The style arc looked amazing on you so that would be my second choice. Failing that it would be an amazing saltwater slip dress xxx
Ooo the maison fauve would be my choice 😍😍😍
Gorgeous fabric, I know you said a dress, but what about the avenir? What ever you decide it will be Gorgeous 😊xx
Loved all your fabric, but that first one is amazing, I’d want to hang it on a wall………
Love the Calvin
Definitely the Fleur
All beautiful! I like the middle one best. Isn’t that an ear of corn on the last fabric instead of a banana? Maybe it’s both. 😊
With a wrap dress you might be able to get the print going where you want it. The dress needs to be a little bit “tribal” to do the print justice. Perhaps a large ruffle or two that would accommodate the angle of the pineapple. And not too short because of the interesting, but large print. Palmer dress....you light up when you talk about making that one😂
I love both dress patterns but I wonder if out of that fabric you'll be able to get the long panels you will need for the shirtdress since it is on the crossgrain.
Style Arc Palmer 🍍🍌
Gorgeous precious fabrics 🥰

What about the Shelby romper by true bias? That would be stunning!
What about the Tilly & The Buttons Lotta dress? It is quite plain and has very few details so you could really show off the fabric. Just a thought. 😘
Hi Ruan ... I think the Lyra ticks all your boxes and you wouldn't be nervous with your precious fabric as you know the pattern inside out.
PS Just make sure your pineapples aren't upside down unless you want to put a certain message out there! 😉🤣
🤣🤣
My advice, if you love it so much, would be to do a pattern that isn’t likely to date/go out of fashion to quickly😊
Would the Fleur dress make the most of the fabric pattern? I think the Style Arc pattern would show it off the best 😊
