I agree. It's rather spectacular how each actor brings something special. Each character has his own personality and is played perfectly. But Aegon? There's something different. I can't quite define his intentions. Will he be his mother's puppet? Will he grow and make his own decisions? We don't know that's why it's great
Okay but Tom is so talented and should be in charge of Aegon’s character completely. He’s the one who makes him likeable and even improvised the “do you love me?” line. Beautiful edit ❤
I just listened to a podcast with Olivia Cooke and she said it was their writer who told them to try out the “do you love me?” “you imbecile” scene. Said that Alicent and Aegon’s relationship had always been portrayed as volatile, so they wanted just a moment of depth/vulnerability between them. However, the acting is all them and it only took around 3 takes to get that masterful piece of acting on screen. ❤
*Spoilers* *Though if you've not watched this far* Honestly, everyone gets up in arms about Daemon choking Rhaenyra and saying how out of character it is, even though he's unpredictable and has a hard time expressing emotions in a healthy way; meanwhile, I'm over here wondering why they made Aegon II a rapist
I don't understand either. In the books it's Mushroom that says he liked watching fights and Mushroom wasn't even in King's Landing and thus had no way of ever knowing what Aegon got up to. Yet the show decided to not only go with an extremely dubious accounting of what Aegon did and dialed it up to make him seem even worse
I enjoy the idea that they had a feeling of danger of Tom becoming the most likable character...Anyway that's just sad, I hope they will do any justice on him
@@camilleb1366I don’t know, his character is great, tragic and very powerful… I mean, he was rejected by his father, he was the firstborn son of the king, a king who was obsessed with having a male child, a male heir, and when he finally got it, the kid just wasn’t good enough. He even knows he wouldn’t be a good king, he doesn’t want the power. The difference between him and Joffrey is that Joffrey was an idiot, he was a dumb psycho, and Aegon is a smart guy (i think). But making him a psycho rapist just was a decision they made for us to hate him
Agreed. As the story progressed, he was by far the most tragic character. Rhaenyra was ambitious for the throne to begin with so much that she gave birth to bastards to pass her line on Iron throne. Aegon II on the other hand, didn’t want any of these. He was a broken and depressed child since his early age. His mother only saw him as a material to secure the claim and Viserys totally forgot about him. He didn’t like Helaena. Still his mother forced him to marry her. His children were killed because of his brother. Poor guy even tried to run away but Aemond didn’t let him. He was totally a victim of his mother and grandfather's scheme. And the show runners now made him a rapist!!
@@camilleb1366 SPOILERS: because many amongst the audience can feel identified with a boy whose father ignored and mother placed too many expectations all his life, he gets crowned against his will and tried to protect his family, fights his battles when it costs him his body (unlike rhaenyra), ends up losing all his siblings and keeps fighting until his death. He’s very tragic and becomes more bitter and capable as the story progresses, but ended up becoming the better one compared to his sister for his mercy to his nephew. He prohibited Aegon III’s execution even when it was the sensible thing to do, unlike Daemon and Nyra who ordered his sons, Jahaerys and Maelor killed.
Aegon is the classic example of someone that has given up on ever trying to get the love of his parent and instead seeks to fill his void from neglect with drink and forcing himself on women. All of his behaviors were clear signs of begging to be loved and noticed. Viserys was not actually a good father to any of kids really but especially to his kids with Alicent
Seriously although the actors are perfectly chosen and Amazon it’s so confusing to me how Aegon somehow shrinks at least 10cm when losing his long hair XD
He loved none of his children with Alicent not even Halaena there is no defending Viserys he was a bad father even tho he loved Rhaenyra he was still a bad father
Viserys didn't care for him a bit. He wanted a male child only for his own reputation or kingly image. Inability to father a male child scared him. He thought people would think him a weak king or impotent. That's why he didn’t hesitate to cut open Aemma. He was very similar to Henry VIII, who was obsessed to have a male child.

Daemon choking Rhaenyra seemed on point to me especially after he murdered Rhea Royce.
