so this was difficult bc i 1) dont like aegon aaaaaaall too much, 2) aegon does not have a lot of scenes. i know i didn't include all of the ones he has but lmaooo whatever!!!
i'd say this is like an aegon targaryen alicent hightower otto hightower viserys targaryen edit with inputs from aemond and rhaenyra but idk anyway the song is seven devils by florence + the machine and its very good as you can hear
maybe i will remake this when we get season two of house of the dragon

Whenever I think of Aegon, I think of this one Tumblr post that talks about how he's the only character who is afraid of the Iron Throne. Viscerally, honestly afraid, and doesn't want it. He literally runs away from it, tries to get away- literally what other character in this show or universe would ever run away from the Iron Throne????? I just lowkey think he's one of the most self aware in that respect. He knew he wasn't meant for it, and he admitted it. He didn't want it.
His character was always kind of doomed, which I think this video captures really well. I especially love all the focus on his and Alicent's relationship, because I don't think it's talked about enough. They were just in a terrifying situation all around. I imagine being told when you're a child that your sister could kill you one day would scare the hell out of you, and it sucks that he never had the chance to not live with all of that on his shoulders.
I also love the part where Alicent's talking to him about protecting their own, and it shows the dinner fighting scene. It kind of gives me the same vibes (albeit in a lesser way) of him taking the throne to protect his family. The lyric of "I've come to burn your kingdom down" but he was in the heart of the kingdom the whole time. I don't know, I feel like he might've known that they were fighting a losing battle, that the throne wasn't worth it, but he isn't given a choice. He's trapped, in a different way, but still trapped.
Anyway now I'm rambling. Great video!!! I love Florence + The Machine and this song is such a great fit for the characters!!!
thank you for your comment omg!!! i agree with you, 100%, which is why im drawn to aegon despite the fact that i dont like his character very much. like you said, he's doomed from the start and im really excited to see more of him in season 2 and how being king might change him

same!!! it always makes me think of olivia saying that she doesn't like her children, but that she loves them. i mean like that scene compared to "you're no son of mine" is just crazyyyy bc she clearly hates him in a way, but she still loves him and literally goes and usurps rhaenyra to protect him
@@mycomputerissad i mean any normal mother would literally hate their son if he raped someone💀 so it’s justified but at the end it’s obvious that she doesn’t completely hate him, at the end is her son and his blood and she loves him

Also would like to say the rape thing was only added in the show, there is nothing in fire and blood about him being a rapist
Despite attempts to portray Aegon as a cruel or tyrant, all that came out was an abandoned child with severe alcoholism. I still remember the scene from the 3rd series, where Viserys makes his two-year-old son drink wine from his goblet. Otto was sent away, so at the time of growing up, no one could really control the boy. Who knows what would have turned out of him if his father had shown even a drop of attention to him and his grandfather had taken care of him in the early stages. The same Aemond turned out to be more solid, but he had a mother and sister nearby (he felt a strong connection with the first just on the night when he lost his eye and she was the only one who stood up for him). I believe Alycente loves Aegon very much. But, unfortunately, she was unable to raise him alone. It's all sad...
And yes, I hate the writers for making Aegon a rapist. In the books, he was a dark horse, grrr...
Aegon experieced his father love at the begining and the abandonment , Aemond never even expirienced hi father's love so he learned to live without it and acccept it but Aegon he thinks he did something wrong , so he tries do what they tell him to do to please his parents but it is never enough because no matter what he does he never gets love he had because he is not perfect son for Alicent and Aemma's son for Viserys.Helaena was also done dirty becajse in books Viserys loved her and her kids just ignore his sons idk why they changed it
i love it! Aegon is one of my favourites because he's really complex and complicated character! 💚💚

Only cuz they gotta be team black just gotta be decent cuz they the real targaryens i mean if u look how the future of the house goes it rhaenyra and demon blood that goes on not the greens so that martin way of basically saying their the 1 that actually matter in the long run so yeau they greens gotta have depth or their just another targaryen enemy and not actually people yah know just how he know stark gonna raise and take out lannister but it the story of how the lannister comptley turned stark into bitches for the frist 4 books its the journey of how we get their like how the dance is the journey for hoe they lost all their dragons

I’ve watched a ton of hotd edits about pretty much every character/team/dynamic (I am firmly on team Helaena-deserved-better) but this is the first one that genuinely floored me. The editing is incredible all around, but I have to bring attention to the opening. The way it alludes to the idea that the “holy water” is the last tear Viserys ever shed was masterful. I don’t even know if that was intentional on your part but holy shit dude. Well done.
ahh!!! thank you!!! it was absolutely intentional :)) viserys death signifies the end of years of peace, and the end of everyone’s security. like at the end of the day, no one could make any move while he was still alive. i kinda wanted to illustrate something like that with “holy water cannot save you now”, aka viserys cannot save you now. and it goes for both sides, although viserys never did much to protect alicent and their children.

Perfect song for a perfect video, I love it! I really like actor Tom Glynn-Carney in the roles he's done so far, he is a fine dynamic actor who steals the show whenever he appears on screen, not to mention his good looks. I'm hoping he is given room to create and breathe life into his character as Aegon II and not seen as just a rapist and a bad man. There is far more to explore in Aegon and Tom has the talent and skill to make this one of the more unforgettable performances in the entire series. Very much looking forward to season 2.

Well despite the show using every bad option of Ageons ( like the two measters and mushroom all telling three different stories in books) And they somehow managed to smooth over every bad action Rhaenyra has taken and painted her in a good light I still feel sore for Ageon he never had a chance, its clear Alicent was not equipped to be a mother when she had Ageon and all the stress and fear caused her to take it out on her son when Aemond and Helaena got the best of Alicent. That and Viserys being an absolute failure of a father basically neglecting him and Otto abusing him on top off al that well is it no wonder Ageon ended up an alcoholic (the rapist thing is the story the show choose to go whit, in the books there were other options)
