I love that you left the “botched” notes in the video. That will allow new guitar players know that it is ok to mess up. It’s not the end if the world.
As a 30+yr guitar teacher and performer for longer. The best thing to do is play through “mistakes” and in fact even “embrace the suck” and play the bad note(s) again! At that point you are merely adding color.😎👍🏻
The RUclips automatic translation (that for some reason I can't turn off) went rogue with this video. I NEED YOUR HELP! If the title makes no sense in your language, please reply here and give me a suitable translation for the original title: "Nerdy Ways To Create Original Guitar Licks". THANKS!
A Better title in german would be „ Erschaffe originelle licks mit dieser Nerd Methode“. I also noticed that all your Titles with scale in it are translated as Waage. But Waage is the german Word for Libra.the german Word for scale in a musical context is Skala or Tonleiter.
now this is perfect timing on your part. i dont play guitar, i play everything but. and i need some guitar for an industrial project im working on. thank you maestro!!!
Tommaso, I think that exercise works well if we play with 5/4 intention, or 3/4 to set some taste to the melody and, of course, forcing the first tempo of the bar to put a little spice into it. What do you think? 🤘😎
When reading sheet music,, How do you know what part of the fretboard a person is playing on? I always go to the opened strings and the notes on the 1st 3 frets first, because it's the easiest way for me to find the notes
Excellent video! Ya know I'm sure I've played 2 notes of a triad in some of my licks, but whenever I do I never consciously wrote the lick with 2 notes of a triad, usually its on accident i guess or because its a short passage. This will open up some extra possibilities after watching this video!
very nice...many variants one can try even beyond what you introduced. Again, very cool and certainly helps with mastering the fretboard and making sweeeeet melodies. Grz mille.
The thumbnail image of the train made me click the video. Guitars and trains (and a good woman) makes life amazing! Edit: and yes I did watch the entire video from beginning to end 🙂
You might need to know what notes are in each chord. The G chord has the notes, G B D. The F chord has the notes, F A C. These are also called triads cause they only have 3 notes. Any major or minor chord is a triad. The triads help you to make better lead lines. I'm pretty tired too so if I explained this badly just tell me and I'll try to explain it better.
Great stuff - love a tip I heard from Julian Lage in a video - learn to play scales in a random order instead of up and down - throws up so many interesting possibilities
I didn't really get the relation between the G- and the F-chord. In which of your videos can I find more explanations to this? Suggestion for German video-title: "Gitarren-Licks für Streber"🤓
If G is considered a root(home) chord then with F it will create a myxolidian mode(sound) since there is a flat 7 interval in the scale. It is the same scale as C major just played from the 5th but that 5th to be perceived as the root. Another common examples is start from the 6th(Aeolian mode/A minor scale). I hope it makes some sense.

Exactly my thought - thanks for writing this. I'm not here to look good, I'm here to help people playing their guitar.

@@Izuyamamba Thanks!
Excellent video sir! Thank you
Less isn't more, more is more. *but,* more is not always better.
On the other hand, holding something back is always better.

If that’s the music theory police, PLEASE tell me what to do to get arrested!

No complaints at all! Explanations from the start were perfectly articulated. Thanks!
You are such a brilliant teacher Tomasso. Once again, thank you so much for your time and energy!
That's one of the cool things about guitar. We can make things as simple or as complicated as our creativity will allow.
