      Thanks, Jenn! What kind of microscopy are you doing?

      @@diettoms I recently bought my first scope (amscope T490B) and I’m interested in studying microorganisms but I also have a background in art and design so I’m experimenting with diy filters and editing in post. Super excited about this!

      @@by_jenvier Oh cool! The T490 is a really nice platform in its class. You might like to see the work of Shelly Smith (aka StudioCornix): www.studiocornix.com She also live streams on Twitch.
      Also check out Magnificent Matter. They use a modified Olympus BH2 (same I use for my main videos) to produce really awesome live art at shows/concerts: instagram.com/magnificent.matter?igshid=MmJiY2I4NDBkZg==
      A good way to get started on microscopy with a more artistic slant is to experiment with Rheinberg filters. Many buy or make filters from colored plastic sheets. However, one thing I’ve never tried but think would work really well is to use actual professional photo gels to make filters. These might achieve colors much more saturated and striking than the cheap stuff.
      I encourage you to share your work on my Discord as well as on the microscopy subreddit!

    Which model of Boli microscope is that? Can you recommend a model? Sorry if you've answered this elsewhere.

      Hey there, I use the BM05040311 in this video. Note that I am using a high power (3W or 5W I think) LED rather than the halogen lamp it comes with which is a little on the dim side for videography.

      Thanks! Amazing it's only 250.00? I was thinking it would be at least 1000.00. Did you customize the light when you ordered it, or after market mod you did on your own?

      @diettoms  Год назад

      @@foolbart yes I think it’s easily the best deal on a new 160mm microscope and it also plays very nicely with my ShinyaVision mod.
      No customization - I just took the base off, used thermal glue to stick a high CRI LED to an aluminum heatsink, and powered the LED with a benchtop supply. You can actually see the wires going down to the LED in the vid :) No precision alignment required, just kinda move it around until you get a lot of light out.
