    General information about Moonlight Sonata:
    The Piano Sonata No. 14 in C♯ minor "Quasi una fantasia", Op. 27, No. 2, popularly known as the Moonlight Sonata, is a piano sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven. It was completed in 1801 and dedicated in 1802 to his pupil, Countess Giulietta Guicciardi. The piece is one of Beethoven's most popular compositions for the piano, and it was a popular favourite even in his own day. Beethoven wrote the Moonlight Sonata in his early thirties.

    I started listening to Moonlight Sonata a RUclips video that runs on a loop, the one with the moon above the clouds scene, to help me get off to sleep. It's such a beautiful piece of music, and I've grown to love it so much. I had a few piano lessons as a child but none since, and I'm in my mid-sixties now. So I'm using a borrowed keyboard to try to learn how to play it. I had watched some other videos then came across yours, and l just wanted to say it's the best, very clear and well explained. My old brain hasn't got too far yet with it, but I'll keep going and hopefully learn the whole thing, thanks to you. Thankyou so much for making this video. ☺

I need to get the piano tuned, before I hit a certain key, which is what slowed me. It might be worth noting, Movement 3, would be impossible on an Upright, it requires a Grand, Baby Grand, Mini Grand, etc, due to key, hammer suspension. the hammers will not lower in time, for you to repeat them quickly enough, on an upright.

    Thank you so much for this! Don't listen to the moaners, some people will never be happy! One thing that's been bugging me for ages with the sheet music in this song is the first B#. No other video/instruction I've seen has mentioned this, so it's really helped me understand the sheet music. Do you know why this isn't just written as a C? There's no actual B# black key, so I am and have been properly confused as to why old Mr Beets would complicate things by writing B# instead of C?

    • @BitesizePiano
      @BitesizePiano  2 года назад +1

      Sharps and flats aren’t just black keys, they’re white keys also. So to sharpen a note is simply to make it a semitone higher. In the scale of C# harmonic minor (the key of this piece), the 7th note has to be sharpened. The 7th note of the scale of C# minor is a B, so it becomes a B#. There needs to be one of each of the 7 letters in a scale, which is why it can’t be called a ‘C’, as there is already a C#. Basically I’d strongly recommend learning/understanding scales and key signatures.

    • @BitesizePiano
      @BitesizePiano  Год назад +1

      The sheet music for this is linked in the description. If the music is under copyright, then legally I’m not allowed to provide it for free (nor can anyone else). If it’s not an existing piece of music, then I have to create the sheet music, which I charge for. My tutorials are free and you can’t expect me to provide free sheet music for every single video I make, that’s being a bit too entitled.

    Can you explain what the Leo, p , mp, pp, and etc are on a video? I go to piano class and I’m at the beginner’s class and I really want to know what they mean

    • @BitesizePiano
      @BitesizePiano  4 года назад +2

      p stands for 'Piano', which means soft.
      mp stands for 'Mezzo Piano' which means moderately soft.
      pp stands for 'Pianissimo' which means very soft.

    • @BitesizePiano
      @BitesizePiano  7 месяцев назад +1

      That’s reeeeeaaaalllyyyyy not the kind of piece you should learn from a RUclips tutorial. It’s very advanced and should be learned with a teacher by a student who is at or almost at that level! I’m afraid I don’t make step-by-step tutorials on very advanced pieces.
