    That axis discrepancy description is one of the best I have seen. Simple, but to the point. Thanks!

    The group name for Dragons is a Thunder. If they carry passengers then the group name changes to a Weyr.

      At least according to Anne McCaffrey. I'll take that as cannon!

      @@Corbald Aww I didn't know that she wrote the Dragon Riders of Pern. My dad read that series to me when I was a kid. Thanks for that wonderful memory.

    Nice job. I was at the cape for the last crew launch and landing. I was there for Ripley’s launch and recovery. I’ll be at the cape for this launch. Go fly.

    I have enough on my hands with three axes for now, but your videos are always so detailed and helpful. Great result here too!

    Hey winston! if you’re looking to save time in your adaptive toolpaths, try playing with the no contact feed rate in the linking tab. bump this number up as high as you feel comfortable, and increase your stay down percentage to +80% and your machine will just reposition your tool by maneuvering around obstacles instead of up and over them. Could save you some time

      I always set this pretty high. The problem is the PocketNC maxes out at 60 IPM.

    Cool to see the build. I held it at WORKBENCHcon and it is a nifty thing.

    What do you need to do to get sponsors? I think you should’ve went with the 1/32 ball nose? What is it about seven hours of machining time?

    • @WinstonMakes
      @WinstonMakes  4 года назад +2

      Sponsors? Nothing. They'll come to you if they think your channel is worth it. You can be the one to reach out, but I prefer the passive approach. More leverage.
      1/32" endmill might give (marginally) more detail, but also risks poorer surface finish because endmill has lower tangential velocity.
      It's about 5 or 6 hours, +/- 1 depending on how I've customized the finishing toolpaths.

  • @BaldurNorddahl

    Do the endmills wear out quickly from the long run time on the pocket nc?

    • @WinstonMakes
      @WinstonMakes  4 года назад +1

      If your speeds and feeds are reasonable, no. I've got some cutters with 30-40 hours on them.

    How are you able to set up such reliable tool paths using an .STL? When ive looked into machining an .STL it seems impossible to select the contours and pockets I want to machine accurately due to all the faces involved.

    • @WinstonMakes

      The bulk of my toolpathing comes down to dumping 3D toolpaths over the model and constraining it with sketches, slope, height, and occasionally a plane or two that block off other parts of the model for that particular toolpath.

    Pasha? I thought it was Pavel/Pawel.

    • @WinstonMakes
      @WinstonMakes  4 года назад

      Pavel went back to PocketNC for electrical refurb, and Pasha was sent in his place. Compressed air most likely got a brass or aluminum chip somewhere that was causing logic issues. (Pro-Tip: Don't use high pressure air when cleaning the V2.)
