He is still making a living off talking about what he did in 1980. He also worked in sales for a # of years. Other great UGA qb's have had great careers outside sports. Zeier with broadcasting and has a had a good career in banking and real estate. David Greene as well. Everybody wants to talk to you and ask you about "the game" and especially if it was one that you won a national championship and beat Saban.
Stetson Bennett's gonna be doing speaking gigs across the state of GA for decades off of this, and probably gonna meet a lot of kids named Stetson in the next few decades too. I've been around to see UGA win national championships. I was there in person when Georgia tennis won the championship at home in Athens and 2008 when the Gymdogs won it all! They are all Bulldogs, so they have my support. But this 2022 win stands out because most of my life has been the narrative that Georgia can't/won't/never gonna win a football championship. But I'd also like to point out that Georgia wasn't a full strength roster and had been that way all season. These players missed the NCG as well as the SECCG for the Dawgs. WR Arian Smith maybe the fastest player in college football, Arik Gilbert maybe the best tightend in college football hasn't played all season, the team leader at the time in sacks Adam Anderson was suspended earlier this year, All American DB Tykee Smith, LB Trezmen Marshall, LB Rian "Trouble" Davis, Jalen Kimber DB, starting OL Tate Ratledge. Maybe with these players we are an undefeated Georgia and SEC champs too. Maybe we beat Bama with Metchie and Williams. I just don't want our guys to be robbed of their accomplishment because of the focus on missing Alabama players. It goes both ways and both teams were great teams. Neither team has anything to be ashamed of this season and the two best teams went at it for the natty IMO. They split victories this year. Hats off to both of them.
