Hi Dani. I have many dendrobiums here in the Caribbean. Hadn't seen this one. Beautiful and nicely grown. 😉👍🏽. Dani I've seen lots of your videos but have never seen you in any! You should make a video with your orchids ☺️.
That Den. is very similar to Den. Victoria Regenae in culture even spider mites. I say that because I finally figured out how to care for it recently. So different than den. Phals
Hi Danny I recently purchased a small division of dendrobium parishii. Now it is producing a new growth which is so tiny(1cm in length and 0.5cm in width). What can I do to promote it to grow bigger ones?
Hi, new structures grow in time, they all start small :) Orchids recovering from stress will first grow smaller structures and each one afterwards will be gradually bigger if correct care is provided.
You may not favor the Latouria Dendrobiums now, but give it time. They have a mysterious power that will draw you in with their unique, long-lasting blooms, wonderful fragrances, and vigorous growth hehe 😎 your spotlight Den looks similar to a peony flower wow!
Hi Danny, I have a question. I have two situations where I bought a vanda in bloom, repotted it in coconut coir, and when it rebloomed the color is different. For example, I have a Vanda Pachara Delight that was a very vibrant indigo then it bloomed with a lighter purple color with white spots. Then a Vanda Golden Doubloon with bright orange and a white contrast. Now it reblooms with a light orange and cream color with orange spotting. Do you have any idea what could be causing it? My other smaller vandas are not doing this.
Dendrobium glomeratum reminds me of Dendrobium chrysopterum. Mine is blooming now, the flowers are clustered the same way and my leaves are wrinkled just like yours! It looks like you've got the moisture level right now. I might have to put some sphagnum in to it's mix, was that pure sphagnum under the bark?
Have you ever noticed a leaf on a den vibrate? I woke up this AM to a leaf vibrating. I had just watered yesterday but it was looking rather dehydrated and cold. I tried to warm it up a bit with my warm hands and a few leaves were not as plump as others and being so light in weight I went ahead and watered it again. After about 15 mins or so I put it back in it's place close to the window with temps 66*F and the same leaf that was vibrating earlier began vibrating again. No drafts just a bit cold. I just stopped but was the first time for me to see this. Is it communicating to the other plants around it? Why the vibrating? No other orchids were doing this.
This is just a general question--not a complaint. You pronounce it Low-ess-ee. Here in the states it's Low-ess-ee-eye. Is it regional difference? I ask, because that's how a horticulturist (college graduate that studied all these Latin words) says it. But it could be that US English says it different than UK English.
Hi, no worries :) being that my native language is of latin descent, I tend to read orchid names how they would sound in Latin (taught obligatory in our schools). English has different pronounciation rules indeed. All across the world names of orchids are pronounced differently :)
It was named, says the web, for an English missionary and collector the Reverend W. G. Lawes so it should be pronounced laws-ee-eye - but I’m a pedant so feel free to ignore me! Keith 😂😂
I always love these spotlight kind of videos.. You just describe each part in great detail.

Hi, that's interesting, sounds like some turgidity effects, film it if it ever happens again :D
oh my god i just repotted my first dendrobium - after the horrible realization that it is in fact in FULL SOIL....
