You did an awesome job. I have been having a lot of issues trying to decide on inserts and decorating ideas. Its been a little overwhelming. Your visuals and you taking the time to go over everything has helped, and now I understand better. Thanks so much.
Thank you for watching! And thanks SO much for letting me know this was helpful. I wondered if there was really a point in making this one- I'm glad to hear you liked it.
Very informative video. You have a lot of good points about setting up the planner to suit your needs and be functional versus being decorative and scrap-booky (which there is nothing wrong with, but defeats the purpose of the planner). I was that way. I bought a personal size Filofax and it was useful at first but did not function well. I felt I needed to decorate it in order to use it when it turned out it was too small. I realized that decorating it wasn't making it functional just pretty. I ended up purchasing a $10 spiral notebook size planner that gives me the space I need to plan and write important information in and my Filofax is in storage for now. The only decorating I do to my planner now is the colorful post its I use for color coding. Anyways, thank you for bringing to life the function of the planner: planning! Happy Planning!!
Thanks for watching! I know I look at many layouts and think "that is absolutely gorgeous, but where would I put my 47 point Todo list?" That's part of why I like DO2P- plenty of room for planning and a little extra space to make it look nice :)
I have always been a planner with the supped up el cheapo calendar but I got an erin condren planner and that was all it took! I am now making my own planners but I would like to find what I am hearing is called 'planner peace'. Your video has really helped me not wig out and give me ideas. Well done!
I think that planner "peace" tends to be a bit elusive and fluid: what looks like perfection now can quickly stop working as life changes! Thanks for watching and for your kind words- I'm so glad it was helpful :)
Bethany, thank you for this series of videos, You have given me so many ideas and information:) I saw your link at Organize Your Planner on FB. I have taken notes and also book marked all the links you gave as well as read all the comments and links there as well. THANK YOU again
I already use a Filofax but thank you for sharing how one can set one up for a reasonable price. It can get quite expensive and some people new to Filofax or binder style agendas/planners may be turned off cuz of it. Once a person gets started they can tweak out what works for them and up the ante on it so to speak.
Thanks for this video and the others in this series. Setting up a planner can be overwhelming after watching all the deco and setup videos here on RUclips.
U R AMAZING. WHERE WERE U WHEN I WAS STARTING OUT IN THE PLANNER WORLD?????Really u should be an instructor. U are very clear and motivational in your video. Bless u for helping all the newbies out there. HUGS
I really enjoyed your video! You quickly mentioned your daily/weekly. I would like to know if you have a video that you may give more detail. I have a couple of planners that I use and I am trying to combine them. I would like to have monthly, weekly and daily. Thank you for sharing.
The daily/weekly combo in this video is an old one that used to be available for free from Lime Tree Fruits. I think you can see more in Part 2 or some of my "Planner Setup" videos. You should also check out my videos on DIYFish v2.2. This system is available on etsy and has a great way of combining daily/weekly/monthly. Thanks for watching! I hope this helps :)
I have been haunting staples picking up and putting down binders, planners and inserts.....trying to decide which way to go. Your vid is really helpful. Thanks
Thanks for watching and glad I could help. I know that the choices are seemingly endless. My dad always says "Pick one and look at the rest" Seems to apply well in PlannerWorld :)
@Mark Richman (I hope you see this- I can't reply directly to you nor tag you for some reason) I guess it would depend on what you plan on doing with those contacts. If you just want to have them with you on the off chance that you might need something then I think your solution sounds fine. If it's something you would be constantly using then I don't think any paper system is going to be as efficient as a digital method. Although, I guess it wouldn't be any worse than looking something up in a phone book, now would it? I don't keep any contacts in my planner so I guess I'm a poor one to answer you.
I am glad I watch it til the end. You hit alot of key points on trying to be like other people the way that they do there journal some people can't afford it like that yet ( I know I can't) and that is why I am waiting on the lord to bless me with a journal, thanks for sharing
I'm sorry to take so long to reply! My laptop just would not let me do it :( Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. I'm soooo glad it was helpful!
Phew! Sometimes (often!) I wonder if I am making any sense at all! Thanks for letting me know that at least someone was with me! And so glad to hear that it was helpful :)
How do any of these paper organizers perform when you have over 2,000 contacts? Do you manage them on the computer and then print them out and punch holes, etc.?
We cant get cheap binders in the UK I have had to have an A4 size which means I cant put it in my purse its far too big. Cheapest filofax over here is about £68. Unless I am looking in the wrong places.I have just been looking for the empty binder and cant find anyone who sells them over here.I am going to wait until my birthday in October hopefully I will be able to get one then. xx
That's too bad. I could never pay Filofax prices right now…maybe someday but it's a lot of money, that's for sure! Can you get A5 size "regular" binders at office supply type places- I think here they are called "mini-binders".
I have bid and won on ebay something called a filofax ;-) but for the price I paid I am not getting excited Yet. It was very cheap so we will have to see, looked good on photo's. xx
I found mine in Tesco, it is a basic Filofax Identity in Black its not leather its a fake leather and came with basic inserts such as a week on two pages, notes, blank paper and everything its nothing fancy but it was about £12 and even though its cheaper than the other ones that everyone else has on RUclips am in love with mine. Filofax also have a UK site www.filofax.co.uk where you can get offers and codes online to give you like 50% off such as VoucherCodes.co.uk and things like that. I hope you find a Filofax cheap that suits you and that you love your Filofax as much as i love mine. Let me know if you find one :)
I recently got the filofax Identity too, it was sold as an A5 but when it came it is a pocket organiser which is half the size as what I know to be A5, unless thats what filofax say is A5 size.
I can't get the link to work on my phone but if you go to my channel you will see the video I made on DIY dividers. Spoiler: I used regular dividers, cut them down to fit and then repunched them. :)
Life: Planned Aaahhh, ok. I was thinking you had the same idea as me and did it with your cutting machine (i.e. silhouette). Your idea is MUCH easier. lol
Have you checked out Part 2 in this series? That's where I talk about all the "extras" that you can add to personalize. ruclips.net/user/edit?video_id=v0RB3sgWV2g&video_referrer=watch Thanks for watching!

Thanks for this video and the others in this series. Setting up a planner can be overwhelming after watching all the deco and setup videos here on RUclips.

Thanks for the video and good Ideas. I’m after a functional planner and can’t afford the money or time to make pretty planners
Thanks for the video. It made a lot of sense to me. Got my brain back on the right track.
Phew! Sometimes (often!) I wonder if I am making any sense at all! Thanks for letting me know that at least someone was with me! And so glad to hear that it was helpful :)
Good job! Very helpful on the basics!!
How do any of these paper organizers perform when you have over 2,000 contacts? Do you manage them on the computer and then print them out and punch holes, etc.?
Is that a Dutch door? I'm debating using that but am quite fond of Ms. Trenchcoat's A5 weekly insert. But it's what work for you that works.
Very detailed video, thank you very much and well done. Where can I get a Filofax from please?

Life: Planned Aaahhh, ok. I was thinking you had the same idea as me and did it with your cutting machine (i.e. silhouette). Your idea is MUCH easier. lol
Life: Planned what brand did you use for the poly dividers?
Oh- I have no idea. I have used several different kinds. I like really thin flimsy ones for dividers and thicker ones for page markers.
Oh ok, no worries. I just really liked the shape of yours. :)
I use dayrunner planners I own two. And I wanna make them my own hmmm
