Can you switch from the electronic mode into the pedal mode? How long does your battery last (if you know the hours and miles).

I think so, but I'd probably just turn it off if I wanted to pedal. It does however go somewhat smoothly between pedal assist and throttle only. As for range, that depends on a lot of factors, but I'm sure I could have gone at least 50 miles on this ride.
