No, we try to avoid to travel to hurricanes country.
When you say 10 to 15 bucks in the beginning... which currency are you referring to? USD? Pesos?
If they were talking about things in Panama then they were referring to US dollars cause that's the official currency along with Panamanian currency, which is "Balboa" which by the way is worth the same as the US dollar.
Sidenote: basically if you had one balboa, it would be equal to one dollar note and so on
