- In this video I show how I calibrated my Metabo KS 216 M mitre saw.
The Metabo entry model MT 216 M is a well priced miter circular saw that I found produce reasonable result for its price. It can do square cuts as well as up to 45 degree mitre and bevel cuts. My saw did NOT come well calibrated from the factory. So I had to adjust it - as I will show you now how I did.
On the Metabo KS 216 M there are basically four adjustment you can do.
One) Adjust the fence to be 90 degrees to the cut line - of the saw.
Two) Adjust the vertical end stop to make the cut surface square - to the horizontal plane.
Three) Adjust the 45 degree bevel end stop to make 45 degree bevel cuts.
And Four) Adjust the mitre angle indicator to show the correct mitre cut angle.
Note: I found no way to actualy adjust the mitre locking positions on the saw. If you have any idea on how to do this - please let us now in the comments below.
Please note this saw bends a little if you press to hard on the handle. But if you use a gentle hand you can make reasonably accurate square, miter and bevel cuts with the Metabo KS 216 M mitre saw! Наука
*Remember that this saw needs to have adjustments made to make 0 or 90 cuts accurately **MyBest.Tools** I had to use a right angle on the deck and blade and then adjust the bolt to get the correct reading. Once this is done, it works great.*
Thank you! The most helpful video ever seen for me... All my cuts are Perfect now.
I have one of these too. So far soo good. But this is very useful for future reference. Thanks for your time and effort.
Thanks for your knowledge. Really appreciate. Handly to understand the manual that metabo provide.
Thank you for this video! Just bought it and need to do the calibration. Now I know how.
Väldigt tydligt och bra, just att du beskrev i detalj alla svårigheter gjorde innehållet extra intressant. Tack!
Det gläder mig om jag hade information av värde för dig :). Lycka till med dina egna kalibreringar!
Thanks for this video really helpful i have the same mitre saw and was having trouble with calibration
Thanks for your kind feed back! I wish you all the success in calibrating your saw :)
This is fantastic. I have the exact same model and have noticed my straight edges starting to drift. Thanks for such a clear and informative video.
Thank you for your very kind feed back! I am glad if I could provide information of any value to you :). Good luck adjusting your own saw!
The mitre locking position system is a bearing that is pushed into a metal plate's hole, you can find the mitre locking position at your right under neigh the mitre base / table. You'll probably have to flip your saw upside down to gain proper access for adjusting.
Thanks! Very good information! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks alot.
Did tou manage to adjust it? And how?
If the saw is square then the mitre lock will be calibrated@@adambak3442
Thanks very much for explaining this
Thanks for your warm feed back! It makes me glad I could share information of value to you :)
Thanks SO much ... I bought this too and had some question on how to make (as) "perfect" cuts with it.
Thank you!
Awesome thank you 🙏🏻
Superb quality throughout, easy to assemble. I found the saw to be highly accurate and a delight to use (I am a homeowner using this saw for various projects). I attached the saw to a folding mobile stand to save space and that works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe as well. However, you have to be sure the saw is securely locking in position before collapsing the stand. I've had many of the brands over the years and have come to point where I only buy Bosch, the extra money is a small price to pay for the quality and ease of use. Treat yourself to the best.
Tack för väldigt bra instruktioner, en sak jag funderar på är hur man ska kalibrera lasern. Köpte sågen + bord för ett par dagar sedan och har provsågat, men anar att även lasern behöver justeras. Frågan är bara hur? Söker vidare.
What calibration tool should I use? I mean a protractor.
How you adjust the laser?
Perfect. Just what I was looking for. Do you know what size square you used to check with? Mines too big so need to buy different one.
Thanks for reaching out :). The square you see me use is 117 mm long on the side I managed to put against the blade. Also, if you note that the blade is 216 mm i diameter you may be able to work out from the video how much space there is to get a square or an angle against the blade to adjust it :). I wish you all the success with calibrating your own saw!
@@kjell-olovhogdahl6557 Thank you for the reply. I'll see what I can find.
Very good video. Thanks.
Was looking for this exactly. Mine isn't cutting 90 degrees true enough. Gotta recommend a digital angle finder for that bevel cut adjustment
Great idea! Thanks for valuable feed back! Note to self - ensure the saw bed / table is horizontal before you work on the blade angle when using a digital angle finder ;)
@@kjell-olovhogdahl6557 just bought the 305, I used a trend magnetic digital box level, great for calibrating mitre saws
@@alpine1609 Thanks for reaching out! Great tip :) I wish you all the success using your saw for great value!
How do you adjust the laser guide? Mine is off by a few mm...
Thanks for asking! Sorry to say I do not have a clue :(. I actually did never use mine ;). I hope you find a way to adjust your laser guide!
i would like to buy one of these to cut frames baguettes for paintings at a 45 degree angle so that i can join them and make a rectangular frames (for paintings of course). my frame baguettes are already painted and have different profiles, does it splinter the wood at the cut much? also, would you recommend this tool for this purpose? thank you
Thanks for reaching out! I can't give a definite answer as I have not used it for such fine precision work. I can speculate though, based on my experience with the saw. First, for your needs, you want the 45 degree cut to really be a good 45 degree which is not guaranteed on this saw. If 45 degrees are all you want you can of course adjust the fence to make the 45 degree cuts accurate. Second, the saw has no zero clearance insert so tear out is quite likely. You can easily make your own zero clearance insert of course. Thirdly - the blade the saw comes with is probably to crude for your delicate cuts so you may need to buy a better (more and finer teethed) blade. Sorry - these are my worries but you may also find the saw works just fine for your work. So delve on my concerns and then decide how to proceed :). I wish you good luck with finding a saw that helps you with the work you need to get done :)
@@kjell-olovhogdahl6557 thank you for your advice! those were exactly my concerns. i think changing the blade to a finer one would be top priority. i dont want to invest in something professional because framing is something optional for me. but it would be nice if i could do it from time to time, at a reasonable standard.
thanks and good luck!
@@tzutzescu By the way - don't underestimate the power of a Ryoba saw and a miter guide :). Good luck with your framings!
Hello, can you please let me know the width of this saw but without the extensions? Just measure the feet that can be mounted to the worktable. Greetings from Poland!
I have mounted this saw on a table of around 500 mm x 500 mm. The distance between the mounting holes is around 450 mm or so. Sorry I do not have the exact measure as I have lent the saw to a friend and can't check the measurements exactly :). I wish you all the success of making a table to mount this saw on :)
I try all of this, but I think my unit is defective. Let's see what customer services says about it.
What a crappy saw it is. Magnificently. The blade wobbles and those weird noises just kill it. Should have paid 100 euros more for a similar Makita tool.
Thanks for reaching out and your feed back on the quality of this saw :). Yes, you get what you pay for in this case. I wish for you to get the saw you need in the future. Peace!
@@kjell-olovhogdahl6557 I think it is a really good saw for what you pay. I use my saw a-lot and can not complain. All of my other tools are Makita except for this one. I do have a Makita mitre saw, but I like this little one more.
