After the 100's of hours listening to your voice on assassins creed as a teenager this shanty of the week thing is pure bliss for me. The absolute best part of my week. I love you man!!!!!
I can't help but imagine us sit at a table in a small tavern singing shanties all night long. That would be my ideal evening. Good work Sean. I will always be a fan of yours.
This is my favourite youtube series, all these songs really help me through the long hours at work. I suppose that’s why sailors sang them as well back in the day!
The moment I recognized your voice.... I beat the crap out of that subscribe button like it owed me money. Thankyou for bringing me back 9 years ago. One of the best years of my life. Good times, good company, I would sing the black flag shanties throuout the work day and sometimes on drunken nights to friends while they just enjoyed. I'm happy you have a Channel. And why the hell havnt I seen this sooner.
Playing Skull and Bones. This song is one of my favorites merely because of the melody, and the way your voice sounds in it. Absolutely fantastic. Pure art. Easily one of the only shanties I could listen to on repeat.
Sean, i love this series! I fell in love with the sea shanties you sung from playing AC black flag. Still loving them now. Keep up the great work mate!
SIR YOU ARE SO AMAZING PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LOVE BECAUSE WE LOVE IT TOO. 💖 Assassin creed black flag was my fave game, your voice took me to an awesome journey and adventure !
Thanks. I try to replicate what a bunch of guys would actually do: some singing well, some badly, some singing harmony, some yelling interjections. At least, that's what it's like when I get people singing in the taverns here in town.
Thanks. It's some stuff I meant to say in the intro/explanation but forgot because I was nervous filming and some stuff I thought of afterward while listening to the song.
Interesting. After reading this I went back to listen for the first time in a while, and it's true: the harmonies are different. It's more like what I do in non-shanty music, either with La Nef or Skye Consort. Thanks for your support, hoser.
Good job Sean, really nice to see you keeping up with this great venue in the midst of tis crazy situation. Love your Shanties Mick sent me the link so I went back to listen to all of them. Keep up the good work buddy. Cant wait until we can jam together again. 👍🏻
Renzo might refer to the man used to be the "right arm" of Orgosolo, mediterranean legendary sailor. (Renzo was also a VERY common name in Italy till around early 1900's but that's another thing).
Hi Sean! I listen to a lot of Old Time Radio (OTR) in addition to shanties and other kinds of music. Fun fact: Rinso laundry detergent was a popular product throughout the 1940s and '50s and was the sponsor for at least a couple of radio shows I can think of. When I hear this song, I can't help thinking, ”Rinso, boys, Rinso!" 😉 (Yes, I know I'm weird). Cheers!
Hey Sean, Renzo is the short form of the Italian Name Lorenzo which is related to the Name Laurentinus or Laurentius. So when you know in which century the Shanty was written we might be able to tell if he was maybe from Venice or Savoy :)
Hey Seán! I am currently watching through all your shanties and I was wandering, what kind of shanty this is? I think it could be a Halyard Shanty, but I am not sure. And keep up the good work, I love your voice!
I'm a big fan of your shanty in Assassin's Creed. Love to hear your voice every time! Will you have a comeback in Assassin's Creed Valhalla?🤔 I would appreciate and love it so much.
I really like this series. Just a thought. Maybe the guy was originally called Lorenzo which would be a Italian name. Singing Lorenzo actually still works but I guess it got shortened over time. Or mY theory is just flat out wrong :D
Yeah, that's a good theory. I actually have a friend called Renzo and she says her ancestors shortened the name from Lorenzo, so it's very plausible. There is also a theory that it's Danish, which I forgot to mention: Reintzau, or something.

The word "Renzo" is mentioned 41 times in this song. Around the same amount of times I listened to this song today.
Awesome. Thanks for the info.

@@SeanDagher it work very well used that way .
I keep coming back to this one, the harmonies are so well put together and the drones give me goosebumps. And a fellow Canadian!

Btw, would be nice to have the "lyrics" in the description 😁
Great idea. I'll update the descriptions soon.

Hey Diogo! Nice to hear from you, man!
I so do love this Sean, could listen to you all day and night.
Ok, but go easy. Don't get sick of it. But mainly, I'm happy that you enjoy the music.
Best channel on RUclips.
Wow, that's high praise. Thank you very much.
Wait wait... he was the voice on all the shanty’s for Black Flag 👏🏻 loved it
He was! Welcome.

I look forward to The shanty of the week every week! Hope you don’t run out of shanties!
Please let us know if you ever come to Ireland for a gig or even just visiting a bar to play some music!! would be good craic that night I'd say!
Oh man, I'd love to get back to Ireland. Perhaps when we can tour again...

Thanks for the info Quaicon. There are versions of this from probably the 16th to 19th centuries.
❤️❤️

Yes, halyard. But remember that there are no hard and fast rules, and many songs can be used for many things.
I'm a big fan of your shanty in Assassin's Creed. Love to hear your voice every time!

Renzo!
Succinct.
Renzo was a bad sailor! 😂💛
Right?
Renzo Is pretty italian as a name

Does anyone know the chords for this song? Google doesn’t help here… 😢
I can't really remember what I did. I keep trying to put out a songbook but am not advancing.
about 26 renzos in this song
Un scientifique!
The one dislike is Renzo
We still win. He still loses.
Lorenzo, mostly from Azores. Same as Johnny nobody-knows-which.
Very possible.
@@SeanDagher : if anybody sings a shanty of me, it won't be Egidijus, it will be just Giles as haul/pull/heave! :)))
Assassin's creed 4 brought me here.
Welcome. I hope you enjoy the tunes presented this way.
If he was Portuguese he would probably have been pronounced "Henzo" or "Heyzo"
Awesome! Thanks for the info.
Renzo huh? sounds italian more than it does anything else.
Yes.
@@SeanDagher Guess just about anyone could have sailed that day, it doesn't matter who he really is, only that he can resonate with so many cultures.
