  • In this video I install an Antenna bracket for my Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series (LC200) that I purchased from East Coast Off Road. It is manufactured by Vogue Industries. The need for the antenna bracket came about because the factory antenna is located in the rear drivers side window, and this was removed during the installation of the Emuwing windows in my Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series. I also review the product and ease (or otherwise) of installation.
    Next episode I replace my VMS head unit with a 12 inch unit from EC Offroad. Be sure to subscribe so that you do not miss any of that action!
    Thanks for sharing your time and in your support of my channel. Tell your friends, share the love!
    Keep the shiny side up!!

    I bought that exact same Rivnut/Nutsert gun a few months back, I used it to mount my fridge slide in the tub of our Colorado and have used it for several other projects like mounting my over wheel arch water tank straps/brackets etc..... handy little tool for a professional looking finish!

    I am a huge proponent of not having any antennae out the front. For the AM/FM radio, what we do (and what I have done) is get a stainless Z bracket and mount it under the bonnet on the left side (there is a bolt close to the A pillar) and then mount an antenna base with a spring with a 1m stainless wire whip element on top. It is not in the field of view nor does it get broken off by branches in the scrub. It's tough as nails. Even if a strong branch catches it at the base the spring allows it to bend 90 degrees. Hope this gives you some ideas. I can send pictures and links to products if you want more info.

      @@JafffaAdventures Yeah, many city based 4wd shops don't sell products which are farm proof nor paddock proof.

    I’m curious to see if the antenna performance is better than the glass style was. Excellent video I’ve been thinking how these brackets mounted

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback and kind words Scott, I sincerely appreciate it. Regarding a comparison on antenna performance, I’m not sure I will be able to draw any meaningful conclusions. The reason for this is that two variables are at play. Firstly the new antenna, secondly the new head unit. If it’s better or worse I’m not sure I could point to one or the other with any degree of confidence. I’ll be installing the head unit over the next week or so and will certainly share my experience for what it’s worth. Cheers👍😎

    But have you not just riveted your guard in place permanently with your rivnut 🤔

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  4 года назад

      Thanks for the question. The short answer is no, the bolt I removed is the only thing holding the guard on at that spot. You can see this in the video when I lever the guard to fit the antenna lead. Cheers 👍😎

      Thanks Johnathan, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. The antenna is a simple one off fleabay, but I did have to extend the lead as I think most are 1.5m and are too short.
      Cheers 😎👍

      ok perfect. Did you happen to come across any antennas that will plug into the blade connector where the original antenna on the rear glass connects to. I'm not too keen on ripping gout the head unit to plug in an after market one. Thanks heaps for your reply.

    • @JafffaAdventures

      My pleasure Johnathan. I did not come across any blade connector antenna, but having said that I was really not looking that closely either. Cheers😎👍
