Jesus did not tell the rich young ruler that he would be perfect if he gave all his money to the poor and followed Him. The point of Jesus telling the rich young ruler to do this was to show that he could not obtain eternal life by his works. Our works are like filthy rags. We are saved by grace through faith and not of ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-9). When one is truly born again, they will be made a new creation. This is a work of God. And evidence of being born again would be that they will have true saving faith in Jesus Christ and they would repent of their sins. Not just asking for forgiveness and then diving rightback into sin, but turning away from sin and seeking righteous... and remember its not to be saved but because you're saved. God came down and lived the perfect life that you and I could never live. He died on the cross and bore God's wrath that was meant for us so that those who are born again would not go to hell. He rose from the dead 3 days later and for those who put their trust in the work of Jesus Christ and are truly born again, their sins will be forgiven and they will spend eternity in Heaven ❤
