  • This 6'3 Majorcraft Finetail Super Ultralight is one cool rod! I actually got it from my good buddy ‪@CreekFishingAdventures‬ when we fished together. Thanks again man! Overall, after testing it a few times, I have come to the conclusion that I like this rod a lot for certain applications.
    Because this is a fast ultralight with a soft tip (and very low power ratings), it handles micro-jigs really well. With low-diameter line, I can whip a 1/80oz Mule Jig out there with no issues. That being said, it is a bit less ideal for slightly larger weights (such as a 1/16oz Crappie Jig). I find that the tip starts to bounce a bit when working baits that size. What that does is cut down on feel and sensitivity. So, in my opinion, this is a stellar option for micro jigs and super ultralight fishing, but it may not be for everyone. I will certainly be keeping it handy with some 6lb braid rigged up and use it almost exclusively for shallow water panfish.
    Also, big shoutout to the wonderful Bluegill in this video. Man, they came out to play!!

    May I know what is the reel gear ratio you use?

    • @FishAnything

      I don't really stress gear ratio. Most modern reels have fast enough ratio that they all feel pretty similar.

    Hi - Great video here. I am looking for my first JDM ultra light (actually first UL all together) and am between two rods which you have reviewed. Either this Major Craft Fine tail rod or the Yamaga Blanks Blue Current III. I am fine with an extra UL as I will be fishing for smaller perch, blue gill, perhaps crappie and was wondering if you noticed any difference between the two. Thanks

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  8 месяцев назад

      The Yamaga is a better rod in my opinion. It is more fast than the Majorcraft so it performs better with jig applications (which is 90% of what ultralight fishing is). It is also light as a feather!

      @garethmorris2042 8 месяцев назад

      @@FishAnything Thanks for the note here and really glad you said that as I ended up ordering the Yamaga from Japan over the weekend! I ordered the shortest model (5ft 3) which may have been a mistake but I do intend to use it for more close range fishing out of a kayak so hopefully I made the right call!

    Seems like a good rod. I’m a huge fan of a phenix mirage. If you get a chance you should give that rod a try. It’s 1-5lb and 1/32 oz to 1/8oz. Moderate action. It’s alot of fun Might have to try this major craft also

    I have been using the 1/80 oz jigs a lot and the only problem I have with this particular size is that when people ask me what size jig I'm using they seem to assume I'm fishing with a 1/8 oz and I'm mistaken when I answer them. So I just lie and say 1/64th to avoid that situation.

I’ve caught some in shallow weedlines that were all colored up and on the flip side, I’ve caught fish suspended over deeper water that were super pale. Water color can also affect their colors
