From Bob's 1975 album, Blood on the Tracks, this has been considered one of Bob's most masterfully written love songs. The welcoming harmonica invites you into this great tune with wonderful lyrics and the bassline holding your attention until the harmonica strikes again. Great Dylan song and album. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Stephen. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I can't understand people saying they dont like his voice or his singing. This and every BOOT song shows you the best vocals delivery ever done by a singer songwriter. In this one, how the voice FLOWS, all the intentions and phrasing and tones, the way he ends up every line like a plane of paper thrown up or a beautiful spark. Even Frank Sinatra was in love with Dylans voice. The master of vocal delivery.
Love this song. It was on my setlist for many years when I used to do solo gigs in bars and small venues with my guitar and harmonica. Then in 2005 my girlfriend of almost twenty years passed away and I could no longer sing this song, "Forever Young" or "Lay Lady Lay" publicly for many, many months because I couldn't do them without choking up. All three are great songs that I loved to sing to her. Now I play them all again, over time they've become reminders of great memories. Thanks for the reaction Harri!
Harri if you love this you will go crazy for his slow sad version from More Blood More Tracks I think it's version 5. Completely different and absolutely heartbreaking. I dare you....
I don't know, how I must've missed this one, ¿50-ish years ago?... That's the FIRST TIME I'd ever heard anyone make mention of "Ashtabula"(A relatively small city, in EXTREME Northeast Ohio; is the only one, I'VE ever been aware of), in a song!!!
I just love your reactions! Loads of harmonica! Covers of Bob Dylan songs for anyone who loves Bob Dylan. One of Canada's best musical performer ever, Paul James. He accomplishes the impossible. I can not figure out how it took so long for me to discover James. There is no song that I would remove. Be sure to listen at least to: 27:48 7.Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat 33:45 8. It's All Over Now, Baby Blue "Bob Dylan Tribute- Paul James And His Band"
Anyone who argues against Dylan being the greatest lyricist ever might want to listen to everything hes done and review their position When somethings not right its wrong.. Very Judge Judy !
I Iove the whimsy in this song, eg the line "flowers on the hillside blooming crazy. I don't think it was meant to be sad. One of the best from Blood on the Tracks.
Beautiful and painful, like every song on this album, written and recorded as he was going through divorce, hitting all the emotions until acceptance, and you feel it as if you’re going through it yourself.
This song was from Dylan's fantastic album "Blood on the Tracks." Dylan claimed that the songs of this album were inspired by literature he had read. However, there is little doubt in anyone's mind that the real inspiration for these songs, especially this one and "You're a Big Girl Now" was the disintegration of his marriage to Sara Lownds. She was often the inspiration for many of his songs so it stands to reason that this breakup would inspire a song or two.
probably not going to get many request for this, but from an old dylan fan if you want to really go into his head then listen to his planet waves album..probably the deepest album he has done..going going gone...dirge
Part 1 of 4 Interview with the backing musicians for "Blood on the Tracks" perhaps Bob's best album, or one of them youtube video ruclips.net/video/1logo5L25ts/видео.html
VERY IMPORTANT, the true artist FRED NEIL who put Dylan on stage for his first gig, and who HAS NOT BEEN REACTED TO, and who influenced half the music being discoverd by you, should be here (hear). All of his music is real.
Every song on this album is perfect.
This is true
"I'm just in awe." I've been in awe for more than 50 years of listening to Dylan.
Well put

The poet laureate of rock music. One of his most beautiful lyrics and a great melody. Thanks Stephen & Harri.
I was in high school when I first heard him in 1963. I loved his poetry and have ever since.
We’re all in awe of Dylan. I first heard him in 1964. He’s going to make me lonesome when he goes.
My favorite Dylan album. Every song is a gem. Hard to rank them but I'd have to put Simple Twist of Fate as my #1.
Love this song. It was on my setlist for many years when I used to do solo gigs in bars and small venues with my guitar and harmonica.

Can never go wrong with a Bob Dylan song. Thank you, Stephen and Harri.
The more heartache for Bob, the more amazing eork he gives us...
It's not the sixties..
This whole album is great...
Dylan on top of the mountain at the time of this album
I am lucky to still have this album.
Dylan---The Lyric Master---Blood on the tracks is a Masterpiece!!
his best love song is Love Minus Zero/No Limit
Bob Dylan. Legendary. So much to explore 🌄🐴🪴🎵
There's another good tune by Dylan look up Girl From The North Country 1964 CBC. Thanks for your efforts. 👍
Also a version with Bob and Johnny Cash singing " Girl from the North Country " somewhere on RUclips
You want a beautiful love song listen to Bucket of Tears from the same album. Great guitar playing.
Maybe Dylans greatest album ..... Its from the 70's ...
Thanks, Harri. I was just thinking of this song today. I think it's one of Dylan's saddest love songs, filled with beautiful imagery.
Bob dylan sempre magnífico e esplêndido. Meu brother parabéns pelo seu vídeo e comentário
Harri if you love this you will go crazy for his slow sad version from More Blood More Tracks I think it's version 5. Completely different and absolutely heartbreaking. I dare you....
Classic bob wisdom in the lyrics "your gonna make me give myself a good talkin to"
Harry, this is from 1975 “Blood on the Tracks” my favorite Dylan album ever
Dylan at his best!
And somehow rhymes Ashtabula and Honolulu! Pure genius!
👍👍👍💕 Always love Bob
It's from 1974. On the album it followed Idiot Wind, a great contrast!
Thank you for doing this. i do feel ya. real nice input. " thumbs up "
I just love your reactions!
Loads of harmonica!

"Bob Dylan Tribute- Paul James And His Band"
One of my favorite albums by Bob.
I have probably played this as much as Dark Side of the Moon by
Pink Floyd.😊
Ashtabula, in in north Ohio, On Lake Eire 🙃 (hey, I am an Ohioan)
Love Bob
Thanks Harri this album made me stop.likong Dylan and start loving him
I have been.mad on him ever since
I'd love you to take a look at Dylan's "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" - It's like a whole movie in one song!
Great reaction!
1975 :) Fantastic album!!
Can’t help myself but what a shirt your wearing I’ve got to find that
Yes. Yes. Now to LILY, ROSEMARY, AND THE JACK OF HEARTS.
I second that
Anyone who argues against Dylan being the greatest lyricist ever might want to listen to everything hes done and review their position When somethings not right its wrong.. Very Judge Judy !
There two older dylan songs that are worth checking out. I Don't Believe You and Boots of Spanish Leather.
Check out the wonderful cover by Scandinavian chick band My Bubba, and also their tune about the poem in the pocket of the Amazon 👍 👍
I Iove the whimsy in this song, eg the line "flowers on the hillside blooming crazy. I don't think it was meant to be sad. One of the best from Blood on the Tracks.
Lots of great lines in this song.
Beautiful album. Next “If you see her say hello”. Songs written about his wife Sara, They were splitting up.
Beautiful and painful, like every song on this album, written and recorded as he was going through divorce, hitting all the emotions until acceptance, and you feel it as if you’re going through it yourself.
Cooooooooooooool!!
Check out the fantastic jazzy cover of this classic, by the Canadian singer, Madeleine Peyroux!
She absolutely nails it!! 😃
I LOVE RIMBAUD

I've never understood why Bob doesn't perform this song more (12 times in total)
Ashtabula is a small town in Ohio. And this is probably the only major song that ever mentions that town

Dylan lovers forgive me please because I never appreciate his songs mainly because of his voice. I know he made great lirics but ...😀😀
