I saw that too. Even though the one-way arrows appear to be correct the lane arrows are definitely pointing in the wrong direction. Thankfully the vehicles are ignoring that, but it might be causing some problems we don't see.
Biffa. Dude. With timed traffic lights, leave the first number low. That’s the minimum time for a green light when traffic is low. All making it 8 does is make the other sides wait longer than necessary once the immediate problem is taken care of.
not really the case if every direction is busy. that's where you just plop a roundabout if it's justified. take Washington, DC for example. short light minimums have quite an impact when the sensors don't notice it's rush hour.
@@nightshadelenar thus the qualifier of "Once the immediate problem is taken care of" Keep the minimum low for all directions, increase the max for the roads that are backing up.
Hey Biffa, I got some suggestions! 26:40 : You have a 2 way road with median with Network Extensions. That'll stop those silly trucks from crossing over into the cargo terminal, and force them to use your roundabout 28:22 : There's a possible AI trick you can do with the two lane one direction road here that might work. On the left lane, set it for left and straight (the intersection as it leaves on the right side). On the right lane, DISABLE all turning options. This should force all passthrough traffic to stay in the left lane, and pickup/deliveries will use the right lane for that purpose, and merge to the left to exit, eliminating passthrough traffic from getting blocked behind pickup/delivery. I've done something similar with a 3 way one direction road, making left and right side lanes used only for exchanges, and when they're done they get their butts to the middle lane with the other passing through traffic
Was just about to suggest the same thing, two way with median. Biffa, you've used it elsewhere, even show it in this video. :) Glad to see Teaport back again, even if you call it Teaville right at the end. LOL.
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines was wondering if you could tell me why I can’t build bridges or tunnels I’m using same mods as you I believe think I pressed a button but don’t know wat
26:50 I have a good tactic for this. When building my cargo train stations, I place them on a T junction and remove the side roads so it ends up with one road pointing into the door. This way car do not need to turn to get in or out, and I can manage the traffic better.
15:00 You may have "more realistic parking" turned off in the TM mod. That causes people to come of the bus, take their car out of their pocket and drive off. It causes unpredictable traffic near busy public transport hubs. With the option turned on people will actually park their cars.
I would kinda like to see a second college of some sort on the other side of town, like a trade school or liberal arts college. Add some variety to the schooling in Teaport
At 26:12, I think I spotted that the smaller round about has one way roads going the wrong way, which might be causing issue. I LOVE TEAPORT! I’m sure the citizens appreciate your care and attention to detail.
Back to Teaport! Hoped for a nice sightseeing tour as we follow the train down the new track. I am sure passenger love the view on the bit of track curving nicely right along the river!
i think you should do a London style suburbia with smaller main roads with trees. and some broadways (basically a small road with a wide pavement and loads of shops) if you want to see a broadway search up Greenford broadway or ealing broadway on google maps. also, make a roundabout the town center and have a small motorway nearby
Nice solution at 34:42 ... maybe you use the dead end road on the left of the screen, extend it to the other side of the highway below the bridge, then loop it around to a similar highway connection. 5:08 "the end of the line" - well, maybe you get rid of some of the lines ending there and also operate your train loop counter-clockwise instead. And: in terminus stations trains always seem to take some time to turn around - if that same station (or rather: that same piece of track) is used for trains running through, this could cause delays. I would look for a four platform-station (= two sets of track running through it) and use the outside platforms for through-traffic and the inside platforms as terminus platforms.
I saw what you did, at 27:28 there is industry slowing the traffic, at 27:35 Biffa deletes industry and capability of building again so no traffic will stop there. Traffic flow restored and credits to having dedicated roads for everyone.
My new favourite thing is little road caps for bus stops. Just a 2 lane road built to the minimum distance off a main road. It also really helps with traffic management, its remarkable how much traffic gets generated trying to just turn around if you have no where for them to do it. Just a little 2 lane cap on the end of some T junctions. I've also found adding one next to any police, hospitals, dumps and fire stations really seems to fix their pathing issues. The simplest traffic fix I've found for traffic on ps4/vanilla, give traffic places to do u turns. Frees up round a bouts and really helps with bus loops from having to do huge loops of blocks if everything is a grid.
There's a feature in the TMPE settings to allow people to turn right on red lights. It doesn't impede the traffic with the green light too. I'd recommend turning that feature on in the settings, as it might make your traffic lights function a bit more smoothly.
26:24 There are 1+1 lane roads with median. I think they are part of the NEXT mod. If they work like 2+2 lane roads with median, they will keep people from making left turns onto and off the road. Also, you'll want another roundabout on the left side of the cargo train station for trucks delivering cargo or returning from the right to turn around and get on the side of the road that gives them access to the station.
When having pedestrian paths cross railway tracks, I put a couple of stubs of laneway to create a level crossing and connect the paths to the end. Looks good and works well.
Don’t know if anyone commented on these yet but I have two HUGE pet peeves in this episode. First is that you left a rail pillar right in the middle of the road on the last little roundabout you created on a T intersection. Second is that you used a road with bicycle lanes on the elevated road on the manual intersection you created at the end of the episode. Maybe it’s my OCD acting up but I won’t settle down until you fix this! Cheers.
21:57 a pedestrian path over the train tracks would help a lot I reckon And 33:05, if you changed that fast road to a normal road, pedestrians could walk on it as well, this one has no sidewalks
Here's a thought: for the timed traffic lights, only increase the max time, not the minimum. When you increase the minimum time you'll block the other traffic even if there's no cars that needs to come through. So as an example: Signal 1: 3-12, 2: 3-8, 3: 3-8.
Hi biffa, an option. stick an assymetric road out the front of your cargo station then do some traffic manager horky borky to allow the through traffic to pass while the cargo traffic has a turning lane. It should help things out. The two lanes goes on the opposite side of the road to the cargo terminal.
These pumping trucks are a menace I had a pumping truck stall at an intersection and back up the traffic in half of my city. Good on you for deleting that one, these pumping truck drivers think they own the roads!

The traffic lights on the highway at 35:00 look really funny
I don't care what anybody says, 75+% traffic at 100k+ population without despawning is still impressive and shows that the whole city was built with traffic flow in mind. The fact that you spent so many hours/days/weeks building this and only really ended up with ONE bottleneck isn't something to be taken for granted.
Good work dude. Looks like your new train line needs a counter clockwise version, or for you to extend the line which used to end before you made the loop :D
I have recently come across your profile and it's really helping me! I love your content 🙂 i'm learning so much, only been playing properly the last two weeks after not having a computer for 5 years, so only just getting into it
Yay, I like these tweaks you made. Next tweak should be all your bus lines. I remember you had bus going in weird route (maybe not this map) making them loop around themselves.
16:30 I know when I've been creating these pull-offs, I always make them one way in/out so I don't end up having the main road blocked from buses trying to turn left. Also restrict it to buses, taxis, services, and SOS (almost lost my soccer stadium forgetting that last one).
So good. Biffa takes a break from Teaport, comes back and can't remember where anything is or what he was doing before he stopped. So, he defaults to fixing his own traffic instead. I love it.
The off ramp at 24:00 could have a 3 lane, 2 left, 1 right to help alleviate traffic with that light. Considering when the light is green only the ramp will be turning it work with lane mathematics
@Biffa at 26:30 - you ask how to force them only to turn right. You can do it with a road with the barrier down the center (Median strip). Any road with this barrier will stop them.

Honestly, I was looking at your channel looking for the next episode and ended up playing this video first. I hope you all can get 3-5 rounds out of 5B1C before trying a new map, new order, new tweaks. Is someone going to draw lots to be in charge of a central transportation station? Can't do that until everyone has had a turn in the city. Maybe after everyone had a second round?
I loved 5 builders 1 city I have been waiting for the next builder. Subscribed to the other 4 builders just to see the progress. Hope this goes on a bit.☺️
The train line pillar is in the middle of your three-lane roundabout that you added. Meaning cars are just driving right into a the concrete pillar holding up the train line. 😂

I believe that there are two nodes right on top of each other on the road that's coming on since biffa built that roundabout, I might be wrong though
The nodes are too close together, it’s causing some visual issues. With the “enter the junction” active it shouldn’t mess too much with traffic flow

@26:32 you can use a Road With a median to force them to Turn Right only :)
Yeah! Or just make the road a one-way after the cargo train station.
