Very beautiful work. Love Fauré as much as Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin etc. And so French - imagine this being played in the thirties on an Art Deco piano in the music salon of the SS Normandie on a transatlantic crossing. That would be life raised to the level of an art form.
This is a wonderful performance of this Fauré masterpiece! I invite you to hear Cortot´s pupil and professor of the Conservatoire de Paris Mme. Tagliaferro (1893-1986) playing it too, there are the two most lyrical and beautiful playing of this beautiful work, in my opinion. THANKS FOR POSTING! (sorry about my english)
Calm and spacious interpretation with beautiful tone. We forget there are lots of notes in this piece. Was he playing from ipad and someone had to turn the page at 0:41...? ;)
@siestoman Which version are you playing? I find the pedal to be a bit bizarre in mine. Perhaps it is just me. Generally pedal starts on the second quaver of the bar (in the first movement), how are you (OR ANYONE ELSE WHOM IS READING THIS) utilising the pedal?

Absolutely GORGEOUS. Ferber is ideally suited to the rarefied world of Fauré.
This piece is so stunning! I'm playing it for my ATCL exam and I honestly don't think I could get tired of it. Faure composes beautiful music!
Actuallly, I'm still learning this Nocturne, and listening it with this video really helps me ^^
Absolument unvergesslich performance. m. grazie.
Beautifully played, but I can't forget the unearthly sounds and tremendous flowing passion of Gieseking...
Lovely, warm performance of this nocturne.
thanks for the posting of Albert Ferber, a very good musician we can discover here.

Bernardo Santos Carmo
What a lovely warm elegant performance!. I have to admit I had'nt heard of Albert Ferber before, he identifies perfectly with Faure.
I love this piece. So elegant and beautiful!
So many memories! This piece is incredibly moving.
By far the best interpretation.
Beautiful......
the grand is showcased in faures compositions what an instrument
@paulprocopolis ah well. This is still my favorite version of this Nocturne. This is the piece that got me into Faure as well :- )

:-) - I don't know how that mouse click got there!
Ah, the mouse was turning the page! Or nibbling the page, or even the inside the piano like Tom and Jerry...
I wonder if it managed to nibble its way through a string?
for sure he writ it down somewhere then memorize it then good chance that someone turn the pages for him

@snapper842002 That's good to know. Thanks!
Does anyone know what kind of piano this was played on? It's beautiful
Probably a Steinway (Ferber owned two Steinways and most recording studios had one in the 1970s).
@@paulprocopolis Right, it was a Steinway model D and the recording was done in a church in North London using a NAGRA recording.
@snapper842002 I've no idea!
why is there the sound of a Windows folder being opened at 0:42
0:41 Windows XP is that you?
@snapper842002 Who cares. Just listen and enjoy this wonderful performance!

You can't do that for an exam, it usually has to be as written
I don't think this is one of Faure's showstoppers.
