Pearl Harbor isn’t about Pearl Harbor history. It’s a love story with those events as a background. It’s not a f***ing documentary. The screenplay is def cringeworthy but I think the performances are very good, especially Josh Hartnett’s. Alec Baldwin chews the scenery a bit much 🙄I think it’s interesting to see how critics hated it but it was a box office hit. I love the emotional story of romance and bromance. I love the visual effects. Hubs loves the visual effects, too, and the stunts 😆 We’ve watched this film many times over the years and are always entertained.

Pearl Harbor was masterpiece! Maybe it doesnt mean as much to non-Americans. It should mean alot to Europeans, because if hadn't have happened, you'd all be speaking German right now.

It’s a masterpiece to Americans because it appeals to your self flagellating tendencies, lots of waiving of the flag and blowing of trumpets. It’s a bad film because of the twisting of history, making out that two blokes not only defeated the entirety of the Japanese airforce, but that one of them also single handedly dominated the Battle of Britain. The cinematography was great, but that doesn’t make it a “masterpiece”.

@@jacobdrummond3013 My man, most Americans hated it and mocked it at the time. I think the biggest reason was because it was trying to capture the teen girls like Titanic with a fictional love story and it failed on every level.
