No, the band is Jethro Tull, the singer is named Aqualung. Why he's playing with the ex singer of that obscure NWOBHM band Samson I'll never know. Bruce Bruce has done nothing of note since.
@@metaldams78 Jethro Tull was the name of the band, Ian Anderson is the singer and flute player. I thought you might be joking but just in case you weren't.
commenters said bruce could be heard in the back. no sound engineers but i guess cathedrals had good acoustics. until fairly recently if you did theatre it was expected even a stage whisper could be heard from an actor. i have only seen 1 play as a kid and could not heaqrd the other actors but in the balcony could hear john carradine fine.
A Cathedral is just the right place for Bruce Dickinson....why??? BECAUSE HE IS GOD in human form. His HOLY VOICE...A GIFT FROM HEAVEN....(and IAN ANDERSON's flute is pure EVERLASTING HARMONY....)
Exceptional singers. Bruce is one the greatest metal singers of all times. Ian Anderson also has a beautiful voice and is greatest rock flutist of all times. Two legends jamming is a rare sight.
Bloody hell, that first part especially was spine tingling! Those cathedral builders of centuries past knew a thing or two about acoustics, that's for sure, and to hear a voice like Bruce's resonate around it is just fantastic!
Holy fuck! Bruce's range and projection is fucking amazing. That old stone cathedral is a perfect acoustic environment for him. He's just as audible without a microphone as he is with it. Beautiful.
Although this is awesome and it warms my heart to see Mr. Ian Anderson be the benefactor of so many kind comments by Iron Maiden fans, of which I am a fan of both JT and Maiden. The one thing both have in common is both are uniquely British and both have masterful songwriting. However, imagine if you will Mr. Bruce Dickinson sharing the stage with the Ian Anderson of yore (1973-1982) when Ian still had a voice?
I've never heard that version until now, but man that version kicks ass. That version would have been great as a bonus track on one of their albums. \m/
Awesome Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull fame and Bruce Dickinson very cool for those who added a thumbs down live in your mediocrity this is really cool stuff and obviously not for everyone but how cool is it to see both of these amazing musicians together
"Last time i sang this i was in Canterbury Cathedral with Jethro Tull of all people, for charity trying to fix the church roof of all things. That was a slightly more sedate affair but this one will be the full bollocks". Bruce at Sonisphere, Knebworth before performing Revelations. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing, where i can google that reference and find a video of the performance!
See this like 5 years ago, and after 5 years i remembered of this and play it now, and is just amazing how this man sings, is just amazingly beautiful enjoying, pure magic, Sir Bruce Dickinson
This isn't exactly "Revelations", it's the hymn "Oh God of Earth and Altar" with words by G.K. Chesterton and arrangement by Ralph Vaughan Williams in 1906 to the traditional English folk melody "King's Lynn". Part of this hymn was included in the Iron Maiden song "Revelations" however.
+TheGuitardedOne1338 Exactly! I remember when I was passing by the church in Dublin in the first year of my emigration and I thought, fuck what a great country, they even do Maiden covers even in church. Still great country thou :)
And so we all learn. I've checked earlier works as well. The trooper, the rime of the ancient mariner, murder in the rue morgue. Stranger in a strange land ...Etc etc. It's amazing how much literature is involved in Iron Maiden. Splendid indeed.
wow, huge maiden fan and had no idea Revelations has some of this hymn. learn something new everyday, and like Richard said, amazing how much Lit Maiden packs into their songs for such a huge band.
I've loved this song forever, and Maiden is my all-time favorite band, but I just found out these lyrics were written by none other than GK Chesterton, one of my favorite authors
Can anyone help me find the full concert?
Bruce sang only two songs there as I understand...

Tenacious D!!!
Tenacius D(ickinson)
In the age of lip sync, here is Bruce Dickinson, starting to sing this song without a microphone. Damn I love this man!
Bruce and Dio, the two voices that don't need a microphone.
@Breno Baptista Freddie, Bruce & Ronnie. The big 3

Rosida Andriyana I like you and I gave you a thumbs up. A fellow Priest fan is always good with me.🤘🏻
One Word: AMAZING!!!!
Ian Anderson lost all his hair...I am old....this is music that doesn't require auto-tune... Bruce Dickerson is phenomenal
Bruce Dickinson and Ian Anderson.....together? Two men I have highest respect for. Flat out awesome performance here!
metaldams78 ...Isn’t that Jethro Tull?😏
No, the band is Jethro Tull, the singer is named Aqualung. Why he's playing with the ex singer of that obscure NWOBHM band Samson I'll never know. Bruce Bruce has done nothing of note since.

Jethro Tull was my dad's favourite band, and Iron Maiden is my favourite band. Great combo

hah yep

Cant even imagine what it was like to hear it live
It was absolutely awesome. I was sitting about 4 rows from the front.🤟
I was there, at the far end of the cathedral and I could hear him clear as if he had been singing next to me. Bruce Power Dickinson!!
Laia Amela me2
What a lucky are you guys!
Not jealous at all ;p
I believe you, but also rememeber that Cathedrals were built to enhance acoustics.
say thnx to brilliant medieval designers and builders
218 people did not have the revelation... shame on you ! This is just amazing to watch and listen to.
I was lucky enough to be in the audience for this. it was amazing how he filled the whole cathedral with no amplification needed!
Tris Linnell those cathedrals were designed to work in that way because when they were built amplification didn’t exist! He’s got some pipes though!
Dude that's bad ass. Traveled to see maiden in El Salvador.
A Cathedral is just the right place for Bruce Dickinson....why??? BECAUSE HE IS GOD in human form. His HOLY VOICE...A GIFT FROM HEAVEN....(and IAN ANDERSON's flute is pure EVERLASTING HARMONY....)
Totally agreed! Bruce is God himself! Halford, Dickinson and Dio are the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost!

such a lick arse comment. lol
Nice to see Bruce dressed up for the occasion lol
yes that was pathetic
Yeah, it looks like he put the worst outfit he could find in his closet.
Is not about the outfit. Is about the music. ;)
Haha he had to go paint his house right afterwards

Literal chills, hearing Bruce.... The golden voice of metal.
Bloody hell, that first part especially was spine tingling! Those cathedral builders of centuries past knew a thing or two about acoustics, that's for sure, and to hear a voice like Bruce's resonate around it is just fantastic!
Bruce Dickinson and Jethro Tull need to do a folk rock album, like, yesterday. That was awesome!
I'd love to hear these two do a traditional British folk album.
agreed!
oh man! what a brilliant idea!! Someone should pass it to Bruce!
I am still waiting for that: I will rush as a lightning to buy that album, once it will be available.
Ian has to be getting up there in years. REALLY hope that happens someday before it's too late.
What a voice ,Bruce can sing anything!
Bruce is out of his element. He can not stand still. It's in his metal DNA to need to run around the stage. He was dying to start darting around
Mushroom Funguy “Does anyone have a flag or a flamethrower?”
Well that's the thing about music, it's for the ears, not eyes.
Maybe he’s pinching.
This is what I was EXACTLY thinking!
he borrowed that from Ian

After death of Freddie Mercury and Dio, something live Bruce is King!!!
Freddie is ok, Dio is great, but Bruce... Bruce is something to die for. His voice is pure awesomeness, I wouldn't give it for ANY other voice.
