Watching this tournament when I was kid, seeing Bure, Selänne, Kurri, Gretzky, Yzerman and other Great players in that tournament, and i was like "nah its just everyday games". What a tournament what a players.
Bure put up great numbers when there was clutching and garbbing still going on in the league. It is scary to think what he could do if he was in his prime today.
This was the reason why The Vancouver Canucks got Pavel Bure in the 1989 NHL Draft. He was the most exciting hockey player to watch during the 1990s. Blazing speed and explosive shot earned him the nickname The Russian Rocket. A delight for Canuck fans like me and a terror for opposing goaltenders.
yea he had blazing speed. this was the comeback year for him too after he busted it leg...i was able to watch the canucks practice once that year and to this day he had the best technique i have ever seen
he didnt even have to lift the puck off the ice to score 5 goals. truly a hero. his fourth was the best, with his RIDICULOUS speed and the dangles on the breakaways are better than anyones.
Sweet Jesus! This is a legend! I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was on my knees and praying in front of my TV. I am russian and guess what, I'm happy :) Credits to fins, but Pavel was awesome! I mean it's no use to compare, players like him live in the world of their own. For me he is always the most exciting one. The rocket! It's just too pity to loose 0-1 to those boring always defensive goalie-depenent czechs...though gaschek is a beast...
I´ll never forget this game...best Ive ever seen! I LOVE Pavel, he´s magical!! I remember ppl telling me before the game that I knew nothing about hockey (cause Im a girl I guess...) and that Pavel was just an ordinary player...Well, guess who had a HUGE smile on her face after the game =)=)
5 goals in an olympic game against an topclass hockeynation, semifinals! Wtf Bure's perfomance is so incredible it's hard to even grasp it! I heard the name Federov being mentioned.. here it really was: Federov WHO?? Pavel Bure: amazing and amazingly fast!!
Haha =) I remember the article in the newspaper, the day before this match. Jarmo Myllys was goalkeeper in Luleå hockey, where I lived back then. "I know how to stop Pavel Bure" he said =) The day after the game it was another article where he tributed Bure pretty well =)
Bure is awesome. And I wasn't so mad even we lost this game, 'cos russians are so damn talented.. better to lose Russia than Sweden.. Greetings from Finland
We'll see some great hockey at the Olympics in Vancouver in a few weeks but I don't think we'll see anything like this. Not even Ovechkin is this good.
Fedorov was at the middle of the BUST at that time. Later he signed the deal with Redwings for 28 mill. and played 21 or 28 games in reg. season. thats just a flashback
I remember this game.. It was this beatiful spring day, I was watching ice hockey from TV with my Finland-jersey on and was expecting to see how my favorite goalie, Myllys, will shut-out those communists.. For some reason I started hating Pavel Bure that day..
Yeah definately. Don't forget Zetteberg. ;) Also Sergei Fedorov in his prime had AMAZING speed! Alex Ovechkin is good, but imagen him what all the speed. He would, literally but unstoppable, combined with all that muscles.
I just wish he could have played longer, He might be the fastest skater who has ever played in the NHL and i dont think hes human stick handling at the speed he skates is just insane
I couldnt hear the commentator because I was wondering where that hot crispy smell was coming from. It was Team Finland getting burnt and/or Bure's after burners.
Generational talent. Best forward in the league for several years!
..one man show ..Bure the Legend..
Gaborik actually watched the highlights of this game a couple of hours before the game where he had his own five-goal night! Talk about inspiration!

Bure's celebrations are great, pure hockey joy.
Tks for posting..as a Van fan I miss him..
Wow, take your pick! My favorite was goal #4.
All legends in this game. From Selanne to Bure to Koivu to Fedorov .. etc.
I remember watching this with my class in school when I was in the 6th grade. Classic match.
one of the fastest players i've ever seen. had some great breakaways that game too.
Bure was amazing!!!For me best player ever!!!
Это видео нужно использовать, как пособие по реализации выходов 1 на 1. В хоккее их реализовывать намного сложнее, чем в футболе.

Most goalies can't adjust quick enough with Bure's unbelieveable speed and skill. He is the whole package.
Bure goes so fast that no one can catch up, and he has incredible moves to get it by the goalies
That Bure's 4th goal is amazing, how in the world can he control the puck so well at that speed is beyond me
People who say that he was ONE of... I can't agree. He is one and only. Still no player for me as exciting as Pavel Bure.
Bure is one of the top 3 goal scorers ever to play in the NHL ~ Pure skill matched with his acceleration made him of the best ever
yea he had blazing speed. this was the comeback year for him too after he busted it leg...i was able to watch the canucks practice once that year and to this day he had the best technique i have ever seen
Crazy speed, each time I look and I am shocked
Myllys was a sieve. If Finland had a decent goalie in 98, they would've won gold.
They would have not for sure.
Bures passion for the game was huge! Shows after he scores, like Ovechkin does now.
man...Pavel Bure is just unreal...
One of the greatest of all time, if I have a say.
he didnt even have to lift the puck off the ice to score 5 goals. truly a hero. his fourth was the best, with his RIDICULOUS speed and the dangles on the breakaways are better than anyones.
Epic display by Bure...all about rising to the occasion
love how Bure had a guy with him on goal 3 and didnt even look at him :D pure goal scorer there haha.

Bure's 2nd and 4th goals were beauts
amazing game - best player in the world.
I´ll never forget this game...best Ive ever seen! I LOVE Pavel, he´s magical!!

most exciting player ever!!!!!
Bure Is Amazing. Best russian player in the history of the NHL hands down.
Great Duo Selanne - Koivu. I loved Bure too. It was sad hwow his knees broke and he lost the speed and had to leave NHL.
its a shame injuries shortened his career, Bure was the definition of a sniper
pavel bure is the best of all time
Pavel is a hockey god forever
Anyone else super excited about the olympics this year?
Pavel Bure 5 goals. Best vancouver Canuck EVER!
@GuruEdward As juniors (under 18) Bure played with Fedorov as center and Mogilny as a forward.
Pavel Bure is a great player, always love to see him play, it's too bad he retired.
P.S.
This commentator sounds really unenthusiastic.
god damn that man is a beast.

Just imagine bure in the new nhl, his speed, his touche, also his speed. He was prolly the fastest skater i've seen
Wow he's like... amazingggg
Happy to also see my boy Koivu with Selanne show a bit of magic too :P
WOw, I never even considered that!!
Он тогда финнов сам порвал на нитки!!!! Помню тот матч всю жизнь.
ivanovuman retka 4 golav ni dastadizno no voteta ras tak bila :D
Bure got on more breakaways than anyone I've ever seen. So much speed, so little backcheck. Still though, a deserving Hall of Famer
Haha =) I remember the article in the newspaper, the day before this match.

what a great match... i wished finland won but... that one was bure's day...
man bure is a beast
FInland's PP goal around 3:00 was pretty nice.... but what a game by Pavel...!
THE KING OF HOCKEY - PAVEL BURE!
Bure was in beast mode.....dang
Bure is awesome. And I wasn't so mad even we lost this game, 'cos russians are so damn talented.. better to lose Russia than Sweden.. Greetings from Finland
Pavel is a GOD of Hockey
I guess this announcer has seen plenty of 5 goal performances with that reaction.
that is so true bure so good at scoring :)
bure is so beast
Талантище, каких нет
Live legend Pavel Bure
We'll see some great hockey at the Olympics in Vancouver in a few weeks but I don't think we'll see anything like this. Not even Ovechkin is this good.
Wow S.koivu and T.selanee had great synchronism ... wonder what habs would have been if he signed with mtl last season or 2(when he was UFA )
Wow Never seen someone skated that fast
how fast is this guy.
geese.
i
Почти все голы в стиле Павла!
I ment Ovechkin is like Bure in his need for scoring. Like Bure, Ovechkin is as happy as hell when he scores goals.
Fedorov was at the middle of the BUST at that time. Later he signed the deal with Redwings for 28 mill. and played 21 or 28 games in reg. season. thats just a flashback
p bure incredible speed ....
That game was truly painful to watch.
Zhamnov too scored 5 goals, when his played in Winnipeg, don't remember agaist which team
да уж Буре просто зверь...)))
bure would be 10 times better then any player today
real defensive game they played that day
I remember this game.. It was this beatiful spring day, I was watching ice hockey from TV with my Finland-jersey on and was expecting to see how my favorite goalie, Myllys, will shut-out those communists.. For some reason I started hating Pavel Bure that day..
just imagine if bure played in today's "speed nhl" ... or nhl on speed, whatever. he's the man.
yea he might be a good announcer but i just like a more emotional way of announcing. Everybody got their own taste :)
I totally agree with that.
Bure is a little bit like Datsyuk don't you think?
Gotta love American hockey announcers. They always sound like they were wishing they were at a ball park somewhere. Anywhere. Someplace warm.
Yeah definately. Don't forget Zetteberg. ;)
Also Sergei Fedorov in his prime had AMAZING speed! Alex Ovechkin is good, but imagen him what all the speed. He would, literally but unstoppable, combined with all that muscles.

скорость феноменальная у буре
haha gaborik and demitra was on this page before gaborik scored his 5 goals!!
I guess that was best finnish team for last 20-30 years..... but Bure its Bure...
@scottwill19 with the puck?
@Scotwill19 with the puck?
i've heard dart commentators with more excitement than this one.
Gaborik played during two line pass time, and he scored 30 twice
but this is olympics. among best players of each countries
Четвёртый гол финов просто рикошет от штанги до штанги. Шайба за линию ворот не заходит.
i have the helmet that pavel wore in these olympics... i wear it all the time :) pavel woulda skated circles around Crosby
Who the hell is doing the commentary? This guy makes Bob Cole sound good.
I couldnt hear the commentator because I was wondering where that hot crispy smell was coming from. It was Team Finland getting burnt and/or Bure's after burners.
one of the fastest players I've ever seen. Still, the dude was a pansy on defense, and he was prone to cherry pick at the red line.
i think that most of those goals you can also say was the goaltenders fault, he has bad form. But man is Bure fast and has great coordination.
If Bure knew how to pass, he would have been one of the best.
I think Bure was the only one that can be captain. Larionov didn't play that year or else he would have been a no brainer.
Fucking Selanne. What a beast.
