Aussie here, 61 yr old. Moved to a Stilleto mini 14 a few months ago...I'm carrying a few wounds from a high speed car rollover back in '96, so weight carry can be a problem, and co-ordination is gone for any work from shoulder height up, but the Stilleto fits the groove nicely. Nice collection there, Rusty...always a pleasure to listen to someone who appreciates their kit.

As a journeyman carpenter, when I was growing to college I framed during the summers one of the best framing hammers was a Plumb 28 oz rigging axe, perfect balance. The hammer I use for finish carpentry is a Hart Decker with a smooth face, a place that sharpens saw blades can recut the waffle face into a worn hammer face, but like you I really don’t rely on it to nail.

Hello, Sir. These framing Hammers are not very often used here in Germany but your video is very interesting for me, because I've never seen so much different Framing-Hammers before. Best Wishes from Germany.

Well hello there Rusty . Randy Mac here in Las Vegas just ran across your channel I am a retired carpenter and I must say your review is spot on I use the Delluge as my framer if I still framed lol and the Hart is still my go to trim hammer side note the Hart hammer was designed after a California Framer (rigging axe with the blade removed and the claws installed) the Estwing hammers had to much steel in them for the desert they get to hot but they where used especially for concrete form work and I still have some they are my loaner hammers lol also I would like to pass this on an old timer told me the smaller the hammer the more money you make , I made more money doing trim and worked longer than I ever did doing framing so it stands to reason Thanks for that trip down memory lane Rusty

One Christmas, my little brother got me the 19oz Eastwing Extreme and I swapped out my 23oz Vaughan CA framer. Haven't suffered tennis elbow since and it's my tried and true all day thumper. 6yrs and I haven't batted an eye at anything since.

My edc hammers are still those 13 oz. Plumbs. Still have the same paint grade 28 oz Estwing. Lost track of it for 2 decades after we bought a Bostich N80C. What all the fuss about these high dollar framers which are lighter. My little Plumbs will finish a proud gunned nail.

First Framinghammer I've bought was a PICARD nr 596 great hammer but the handle isnt that good. .. my first American hammer was a 20oz straight claw estwing riphammer and than I've bought a 30oz estwing framing hammer great hammer much power on it but heavy asf so I switched over to a Voughan California framer 23oz with the 18" wooden hatchedhandle its a great hammer but I don't want to pull out nails with a wooden handle hammer to much ... but for that I've got huge nailbars so for nailing it's a great hammer I love him

What no 28 oz plumb framer?
That was my go to in the 70’s, Vaughns & estwings gave me tendinitis
There was a truck that came around, believe he had an induction heater, would reface the waffle heads. Sometimes he left the face too hard and a chunk would break off- but WTF we worked like fools back in those days. Guys made fun of me for wearing safety glasses.

Almost nobody uses hammers for framing anymore. I started in 1987 and I swung an estwing 22. I switched to a Vaughn 19 ounce wooden handle. I'm retired now but if I had to go back I'd take the vaughn.

The long Eswing hammers are good when you are reaching up to adjust some framing. Like just before you set trusses. tHanks for the video

Great video. Just bought a Irwin 14oz long handle framer ripclaw We shall see if the claim of a 22oz hit from a 14 oz is valid. Using it for stainless steel nails on wooden board n baton

The Hart woody was produced by Hart under the Douglas patent. Douglas pulled their patent then Hart change the design to the Hart atlas model which looks quite different

@The Legion Of Tools so I've had mine for a few months now and I absolutely love it. I ground the face of it down to being flat, and it's not too heavy for using for like hanging crown and installing base of shoe, but its heavy enough to sink 16s without much effort. Plus the wood handle is always the best kind 👍👍
