Post pics bro! This week I'm bringing home a 2011 zx10r and stock for that year has full ti exhaust from factory! The one I'm getting already has the cat delete and akrapovic slip on too I found a deal haha
So i would like to ask a couple of things. Does this affect the performance or the quality of the exhaust? Should the exhaust be pretty hot before you start torching it? Also how long does it last? and should you let it cool before firing up the engine im guessing? thanks in advance , and nice video , the husqy is a piece of art
No performance impact or quality impact. You can color also if the exhaust is cold. It lasts so long as you do not scrub it off with an abrasive or polish. It will cool pretty quickly. It only colors at certain temps so turning it won't get it to the same temp that the torch will
That's what I want to know. I bought my titanium exhaust second hand and the pipes are a blackish color. I know it's legit titanium b/c the Akrapovic logo is embossed in the metal. How do I get it back light so I can blue it out like you did?
Thanks for the vid. What cleaners do you use to clean after they have been blued? I had my Ti headers done but don't want the blue fading by incorrect washing. Cheers
If I'm not mistaken you don't wanna use any solvents on it after you've blue'd it. I don't think soapy water would hurt it tho, but I'm not 100% sure tho
@@828mtnboy3 Thanks for the reply, update on my Ti headers. The guy at the shop sprayed them with brake cleaner after an oil change and totally f#@ked them, stripped of all colour. Needless to say I was pissed off. Cheers
Wow I def would have said something to him or a manager or someone! And honestly, I learned to be able to work on any part of my bike other than like motor work, but for reasons like that, but of course for other reasons too. Some shops take pride in their work more than others but no shop will care about my bike more than I do!!!
Ah! Thought you were going to go LC4 it's much more miata than the FTR. When is the indian Vs 701 vid coming out? (Also great instruction on exhaust coloring, looks good!)
When the water splash gets on it while your riding then the sun comes out,,,,, i guess the best thing to do is get a bottle of water at a gas station and wipe the splashes off before the stain settles in and becomes permanant.
I've had my titanium exhaust on my Ducati v4 for about 6-7k miles and noticed it's losing its blue color. The color has faded and gotten lighter, and some joint areas have become metal/yellow colored. Almost everytime I go to ride, I've wiped the exhaust down with rubbing alcohol then wiped it down with wd-40 as instructed to help it blue in, but now it looks as described above. What can I do to restore its blue color?
Lighter blue is when it's heated past the temperature of the dark blue. There is only so much chemical in the metal that get's released with heat. Unfortunately if it's beyond the darker blue it will never color the same again.
Love me some blue/purple titanium. Its so ricer boi bling, but i guess its that honda boy in us 😂
Burnt titanium always looks amazing. I want to do that to my bolt carrier group...
Who makes a titanium BCG? Lol
That would look sick.
pro tip : you can watch movies on flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Ryder Silas yup, been watching on Flixzone for years myself =)
This is cool. I love me some titanium exhaust!! Gonna out a full ti system on my ZX6R. Waiting on it in the mail.

Looks awesome!
Does the colour stay permanent or does it dissapear after a while?
It will stay decent as long as you don't use any solvents or scrub it too hard.
5:39 is the weld for the bracket cracked ??
Looks to me like it is.
I was just looking at that 😳
You can even hear the metal tensing up and popping even tho it's very very feint
Don’t know how he doesn’t see it, even if it wasn’t cracked that’s a pretty bad weld. Looks like they was running it too hot

will it stays like this forever? or will it discolor upon bike usage?
Awesome
Very cool looking.
if you don't instruct - i was unable to get my titanium keychain to change color.
Makes it any difference if you spraypaint heat resistant cleargloss on it after you put heat in it?
I think exhaust probably gets too hot for high temp clear
Great video 👍is you're exhaust mounting bracket cracked?
Not cracked, just an imperfection in the metal 🤙
@@TheSlipAngle oh okay. Ride safe brotha 👍✌
How do I revers it all ? To start again?

Before u heat it.. that’s header condition use or new? I want to do same thing at my bike..
I road it a few times to see what it would do naturally before taking a torch to it.

I noticed you did not polish the pipe before you started burning. That’s why it looks kinda blotchy.

We can do a comparison video! May not happen this year though

Water won't effect the color.

Is there a big crack along that horizontal weld connecting the bracket or do my eyes deceive me?
It's not. Just looks that way
Does it work on z900 akrapovic headers ?!
Yes
@@TheSlipAngle i used a soldering lamp from welco the exhaust get really hot like red of color but doesn’t want to change colors why?
Does it weaken the titanium??
Not unless you super torch the hell out of it.
@@TheSlipAngle lol, copy that
@@TheSlipAngle thanks for answering, great video. going to apply this to my spark titanium exhaust.
Do you see that the mount is cracked?
It's not. Just looks that way on camera
Sorry dude that looks terrible. You should've let it change on its own from heat cycles.
Depends on where he's from and what kind of riding he does 🤷🏼♂️
Past blue it doesn’t go brown it goes back to its natural color.
that weld looks cracked for the bracket
