And I've instantly added almost everything else to my tbr list, they all sound so good! My favourite Emily Henry was Happy Place, closely followed by Book Lovers, so I hope you'll like both of them.

I love this video! I feel like we have similar reading tastes, as one of my faves is The Name of the Wind, but I also like a lot of others you like! Out of your haul, I have read The Bandit Queens (LOVED, I don’t know if you keep up with the women’s prize for fiction, but it was long listed last year, so not that random! I hope you love it. It’s got everything!), The Centre which I enjoyed, and 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, which is by one of my favourite authors. Have you read anything by Elif Shafak before?

Book Lovers is the only EH I have yet to read. I personally LOVED Happy Place but it's pretty polarizing. I thought it was really emotional and raw and I think it's best fitting for people who can relate maybe? If you've been through a dark time when you weren't necessarily being rational and communicating well, then you will understand where these characters are coming from. Otherwise, it might come off as a bad miscommunication trope. Hope that makes sense and helps some.

I loved A Magical Girl Retires! There's no connection with Alice in Wonderland. It's an original work inspired by Sailor Moon, but 'magical girl' is a whole sub-genre in itself. Expect themes you'd find in superhero books like hope, courage, justice, etc, It's also gently sapphic.💖

I have Book Lovers and I hope to get to it this summer. I adore Happy Place but I am in my late thirties and am married with kids and I have went through the things that the friendship group goes through. I wonder if that made a difference to my enjoyment? Also love weird books. Keep them coming...! I already have Patricia Wants to Cuddle and Chlorine on my radar but Girlfriend on Mars sounds intriguing. I am currently reading Maeve Fly and its weird but horrific too - I am enjoying my read but it is definitely not for everybody!

Happy Place is my favourite mostly because it ruined my life. It absolutely scooped my insides out purely because it hit far too close to home for me, it opened up wounds I didn't realise we're still there from a situation I had from a previous relationship and friendships that got dredged up by the book and it just felt so raw. So I think it's more of a me thing than the book specifically 😅 but it was ultimately really healing. Book Lovers though I just loved for the sake of loving the characters and writing and plot. So make of that what you will... 😂

Book Lovers is my favourite. It didn't hurt at all that the descriptions of the main characters gave me massive Elizabeth Moss & Max Minghella vibes (and as someone who was obsessed with their chemistry in The Handmaid's Tale & has a tough time imagining characters in my head, it worked out perfectly). I love that book so much that I wish I'd managed to get it in signed and in hardback when it was first out 🥲 I didn't really like Happy Place, but for some reason during an unhaul I couldn't seem to get rid of it so I might try to reread it, may grow on me
