10 minutes and 38 seconds is one of my favourite books of all time. I read it a couple years ago and still think about it. Especially the way every chapter starts stuck with me. Amazing book and I want to reread it very soon
“A lot of mouth action” 🤣 lol Actually didn’t know about the majority of these books and added them all to my never ending tbr because they sound amazing!
Damn, that's a good book haul. I would love to see a video about your favorite speculative fiction books. And I can't wait for the reviews of all these books 😊
happy place is my favorite for the themes about friendship and finding yourself in your adult years! but def a less common fave among the masses haha I really loved the centre! Not a perfect book but I still think about it a lot & want to re-read someday
Read 10 minutes 38 seconds last month and it was good! Also heard good things about the centre and the hierarchies, the latter I already own and am quite excited about 🎉
@@BookRoast I want to say no, it obviously has death and difficult live events as topics and it is on the serious side buuut I wouldn't say it's too hard/devastating to read
Not me silently panicking because of the special editions for The Expanse books. I only own the first but I’m so afraid they will sell out at some point. Love the series so much! Really enjoying learning about the books you choose. I’ll have to look into a few of them.
I recently read The Family Experiment, I think you'll like it! It's very Black Mirror-esque haha, very unhinged at times. I've also been on the lookout for more of these sorts of books so this video came in just at the right time 👀 so many books to check out and add to the TBR! ❤
I loved Chlorine, gave it 5 stars! It's my best book of the year so far. It's definitely unhinged but also quite sad, yet beautiful. And I've instantly added almost everything else to my tbr list, they all sound so good! My favourite Emily Henry was Happy Place, closely followed by Book Lovers, so I hope you'll like both of them.
I love this video! I feel like we have similar reading tastes, as one of my faves is The Name of the Wind, but I also like a lot of others you like! Out of your haul, I have read The Bandit Queens (LOVED, I don’t know if you keep up with the women’s prize for fiction, but it was long listed last year, so not that random! I hope you love it. It’s got everything!), The Centre which I enjoyed, and 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, which is by one of my favourite authors. Have you read anything by Elif Shafak before?
Adding a lot of these to my list as well! Love weird and also thought provoking books! Chlorine sounds exciting in a weird way. Please, do make vlog/-s of you reading these! ❤ Love uuu, G! Have a nice rest of the week! P.S. Also lowkey ready for fall/autumn already. Am I the only one? 😁
I really loved the bandit queens. Geetas adventures where funny, little romance in it, miscomunication. And triggers for Atempt of rape. Cast differences, this book had everything.
Book Lovers is the only EH I have yet to read. I personally LOVED Happy Place but it's pretty polarizing. I thought it was really emotional and raw and I think it's best fitting for people who can relate maybe? If you've been through a dark time when you weren't necessarily being rational and communicating well, then you will understand where these characters are coming from. Otherwise, it might come off as a bad miscommunication trope. Hope that makes sense and helps some.
Regarding Emily Henry: Liked Book Lovers. Really disliked Happy Place 😅 For the rest: Thanks for your haul! Found a few more books to add... like... more than a few... I like your taste
Book Lovers was my favorite but I just read Happy Place and it’s a close second! I thought I wouldn’t like the tropes in it but they didn’t bother me at all.
I loved A Magical Girl Retires! There's no connection with Alice in Wonderland. It's an original work inspired by Sailor Moon, but 'magical girl' is a whole sub-genre in itself. Expect themes you'd find in superhero books like hope, courage, justice, etc, It's also gently sapphic.💖
I have Book Lovers and I hope to get to it this summer. I adore Happy Place but I am in my late thirties and am married with kids and I have went through the things that the friendship group goes through. I wonder if that made a difference to my enjoyment? Also love weird books. Keep them coming...! I already have Patricia Wants to Cuddle and Chlorine on my radar but Girlfriend on Mars sounds intriguing. I am currently reading Maeve Fly and its weird but horrific too - I am enjoying my read but it is definitely not for everybody!
Happy Place is my favourite mostly because it ruined my life. It absolutely scooped my insides out purely because it hit far too close to home for me, it opened up wounds I didn't realise we're still there from a situation I had from a previous relationship and friendships that got dredged up by the book and it just felt so raw. So I think it's more of a me thing than the book specifically 😅 but it was ultimately really healing. Book Lovers though I just loved for the sake of loving the characters and writing and plot. So make of that what you will... 😂
Well, my dear long before black mirror was a thing we had shows like the Outer limits and the twilight zone for boomers and Gen Xers when it comes to you speculative fiction anthology series
Book Lovers over Funny Story for sure. The Family Experiment sounds interesting. Toward Eternity by Anton Hur might be up your alley as well, it is a speculative novel questioning what it means to be human with AI and biology mixing.
Book Lovers is my favourite. It didn't hurt at all that the descriptions of the main characters gave me massive Elizabeth Moss & Max Minghella vibes (and as someone who was obsessed with their chemistry in The Handmaid's Tale & has a tough time imagining characters in my head, it worked out perfectly). I love that book so much that I wish I'd managed to get it in signed and in hardback when it was first out 🥲 I didn't really like Happy Place, but for some reason during an unhaul I couldn't seem to get rid of it so I might try to reread it, may grow on me
I read Bandit Queens at the beginning of the year and really loved it. It covered some really important topics but had me laughing throughout at the same time. Definitely got some new additions to the TBR now as well. Circle sounds right up my street
My favourite Emily Henry is funny story but from your two choices, it's definitely book lovers. I just could not stand any of the characters in Happy place
„Humans” I absolutely love and hate that show, because it devastated me. And it’s unfortunate that it came „too soon” because I think if they’d released it now, with all that ai sh*t going on, it would have a much bigger audience.
I LOVE hearing about books no one else talks about! It’s really refreshing!
The excitement I feel for this video is immeasurable
🥹 you're the best 🥔
10 minutes and 38 seconds is one of my favourite books of all time. I read it a couple years ago and still think about it. Especially the way every chapter starts stuck with me. Amazing book and I want to reread it very soon
Book Lovers is my favorite! And the newest one Funny Story was also amazing!
“A lot of mouth action” 🤣 lol

Join me in this madness ☺️
Loved hearing about so manu different book, thank you!! 🙏🏻☺️
Just finished ‘A Magical Girl Retires’. I really enjoyed it☺️ Loved the illustrations after every chapter.
So many books to add to my list! A book that would fit this haul is the echo wife 😊
shall check it out! ☺️
@@BookRoast It's about clones, and a mystery and it gets pretty weird :D
Damn, that's a good book haul. I would love to see a video about your favorite speculative fiction books. And I can't wait for the reviews of all these books 😊
I‘m so excited to hear your thoughts after reading all of them, they sounded super intriguing!

Just bought Someone who will love you...
Very excited to read it!
This is one of the best book hauls. I want to put every single one on my TBR.
I loved Bandit queens, funny and infuriating, and I’m reading the centre in the fall. Had my eye on chlorine as well. Enjoy! 😃

I love me some weird books, thanks for the suggestions!
thank you!
Thanks for giving me something to keep the thoughts away while I fold laundry 🩷
lol too relatable
Happy Place is my favorite but its super hit or miss. Book Lovers is "safer", i think you have a higher chance to like this one.
I'm very curious to see which one I like more!
Same! Happy Place is the best EH book in my opinion.
Book Lovers was my favorite of the two, Happy Place was a close second!
Chlorine is on my radar now…unhinged mermaids sounds interesting
For real though this is the reason I originally subscribed, I like the see books I haven't heard of before!

Yay a new G video I've been hearing about Derry Girl so much and saying you like it was the last straw, I'm watching the show📺
Loved The Bandit Queens! The Centre and 10 minutes and 38 seconds are on my TBR, and i just requested Children of the New World from my library!
I love Derry Girls! We rewatched it last month 😍 all the books look very interesting, I hope you'll enjoy them ❤
I loved the bandit queens, it has great dark humor, interesting characters and a lot of exploration of women's issues (trigger warnings).
I’m so so excited to try it!
i haaaated happy place, it truly hurt me :D book lovers is my best book of the year, hope you'll enjoy it
I've read Patricia wants to cuddle last year and it was definitely weird and I enjoyed it
not my kind of books but I love seeing your excitement for them! I'm ready to be convinced to pick them up whenever you've read them 😊

Yay for books no one is talking about it! What I built my channel around.
The Hierarchies sounds very interesting. 😮❤ Like a futuristic Frankenstein re-telling.
exactlyyyy
Book Lovers for sure.
Chlorine is unhinged for sure. :D Enjoy these weird little books!
If you read more clifi and books with nature themes you can participate in the Climathon - it is a year long readathon about the environment 🥰
I hated happy place, yet I did enjoy book lovers. It wasn’t mind blowing but definitely a good time while reading it.
Haven’t read happy place yet but it’s on my tbr but I have read and loved book lovers!
It’s getting good reception in the comments! (Book lovers hahah)

seems so far like book lovers is getting all the votes, very good to know!
@@BookRoast Just realized I put over Funny Story instead of Happy Place 🤦♀️. Glad Book Lovers is winning either way 😅
I want all of them!
I gave Book Lovers 3 stars and DNF'ed Happy Place.
Between Happy Place and Book Lovers I def prefer Book Lovers
Bandit queens sounds like Finlay donnovan is killing it lol but ethnic
Happy place was a DNF for me, liked all her others though
Book lovers
nice
I’ve still never read an Emily Henry book😢

who *doesn't* love weird books?!?
I have not read any of these but I have watched Derry Girls 👍
it's great isn't it?
❤❤❤
where did you get the special edition of calbar's war
Amazon 💜
I liked Happy Place more than Book Lovers

Yes!! It’s one of my favourite games 🥰
