  • The Eastman Romeo is an astonishing slimline archtop electric guitar that sadly I rarely have a chance to lay my hands on.
    I am excited to say after waiting months, I received two this week - one for a customer who has been waiting patiently and this one - so lets show it you!

    I’m excited to get my hands on one of these. Traditional 335 style guitars are known for being super versatile but this seems to be even more versatile. It’s “snappier” and sounds like it would cut through slightly better on the neck and is kinda 335/tele on the bridge. Warms up all you need it to but cuts through. Really cool. I love that there’s no neck binding, the position of the pickup selector, slightly smaller body, solid top, and the neck set in slightly more than a 335 kinda like a 330 or an Eastman T64. I think I just rationalized buying one hahah

    Thanks for the video. I have not really seen a good demo that just shows the guitar if that makes sense. I can see why it's getting good reviews; sounds awesome.

    Picked one of these up used for 1600 fantastic guitar it was in mint condition. I truly don’t think the guy bothered to play it or whoever owned it before but guitar Center had it priced right and I certainly couldn’t turn it away. Love the spruce top I love the jazz tones, the blues tones. It definitely is a fantastic guitar, and what you get for the money is incredible truly a stunning guitar and I am sorry to say they do not make this SC model. It seems anymore I could not find any brand new. They only make the LA and the NYC which are certainly very different. Thanks for a great demo. 7:11

    Handmade super quality. £1950. Custom guitar for this price? Glibson wants £2-3k for production 335! I've a Eastman. Best accoustic I've ever had. The sound is unparrelled. But, if you're hiding behind a headstock.

    I'm looking for a T59, primarily because access to the upper frets is more accessible than on this guitar. The Lollar pickups sound better than the Antiquity, which are, IMO, the best humbuckers Duncan makes.

  • @swimgc
    @swimgc 3 года назад

    I have seen some really bad fretwork photos on the SB59 models in 2018. Are these still an issue or this has been resolved ? Essentially, in the photos, they were able to stick papers under the frets the SB59s which was somewhat shocking to see for the price of eastman guitars. I love the looks and sound of these guitars and wanted to get your opinion.

    Hello from Maine!! Been playing acoustic for 25+ years but I’m I new to playing electric. Bought an Eastman T386 last spring but this Romeo seems like it might be a better fit for me. What do you think I would gain from getting the Romeo? What would I lose from the T386? Thanks!

    We can look it up of course but it would have been nice if you had explained and demonstrated the 3rd knob. Also, for the kind of money they want for a Romeo why would you choose the Eastman over an ES-335?

    • @RichardsGuitarshop

      Hi. Its got a volume and 2 tone controls. It has a SOLID CARVED spruce top - intensly time consuming and skilled to produce and if Gibson were making it you would be looking at least twice the price. I dont really consider it like a 335 and it certainly isnt trying to be one.

    • @kudgeond755
      @kudgeond755 4 года назад +1

      @@RichardsGuitarshop Thanks! It appears to be designed for the same genres & styles as a 335 so my question seemed like a natural one. I take it you feel the solid top makes a significant improvement in the sound that puts it in a different class.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  4 года назад +4

      @@kudgeond755 It makes it far more expensive to make thats for sure! lol Tonally, the textures of the tone are definitely accented by the solid top. No question in terms of build quality and tone its in its own unique place. Its narrower than a 335 too so between that and a 339 but no question at all they will be used for similar musical styles yes.

    • @Spartanm333
      @Spartanm333 4 года назад +1

      @@kudgeond755 I would add, owning 3 Gibson's currently including a Les Paul gold top and a J45 acoustic - the Eastman from Richard's description will be significantly better built and QI'd. I can say what Richard cannot. Despite the price and some hand work in the build (like the application of binding, sanding, buffing), Gibson guitars are mass produced on a factory style production cycle and the quality can vary. They arrive with a poorly cut nut set high which needs work before it can be gigged and most often it is a form of plastic whether it's called Tektoid or not. Also the fret ends generally need more rolling off. There can be finish issues. You can make a Gibson mint of course, I have a local luthier set mine up, but it is kind of disappointing when you pay £2000 for a J45 and the scratch plate de-laminates after two gigs. And I now have a split in the top side - that could have been caused on stage or it could be thin laminated mahogany. I don't own this Eastman but they look like they are in another class. Thanks for the video.

      @@Spartanm333 Thanks! I was actually trying to toss him a softball question and let him run with it. He's at his best when his enthusiasm carries him away. I think many people would say that if you're looking for a 335-ish guitar and have that kind of money to spend then just get a 335 but he clearly feels the Eastman is a superior guitar so I was hoping he'd go into the kind of details you provided. 😂

    Really enjoy your videos Richard you have some really great great guitars in stock....I’m definitely going to take a drive to your store, hopefully this summer....I’m a massive Eastman fan i believe personality they are by far the best value for your buck....I no this probably sounds silly but during this period of isolation, due to the corona virus, you should consider doing some guitar lessons preferably on acoustic, I think your one of the better players on you tube 😃👍

      Wow thats kind. I actually have an idea along those lines - where I focus on my own weaknesses - and using my teaching experiences I show you - the viewer - how I go about improving that area of weakness. Then over time I would hopefully show you I have improved!! lol Also - I could go over the basics of understanding chords, scales and improvisation

I’ve gone over a number of your posts and tried to replicate a number of your rifts... I love the way you make mistakes and retry the rift again... I also think your a real genuine guy with lots of passion for what you do.... keep up the good work 👍

    I had a chance to try one yesterday. I was truly jonesing for that guitar. I compared it to my Ibanez AM153. The Romeo is nice but it is so similar to the 153. Sounds were exactly the same. Playability the same. Frets of similar quality. Tuners not as good on te 153, easy upgrade. Some might think the 153 more beautiful. The big difference, new the Romeo is now $2,499. The 153 is $999. Needless to say I didn't by the Romeo. Hopes this helps you all in your search for your favorite guitar.
