Thanks Ian, first time I've seen inside that tunnel in 53 years! In 1968 - when I was 16 - I cycled from Pollokshaws down to the tunnel to try it out. I cycled through it at a fair old speed and came out on the north side. When I tried to come back, I found myself at the mouth of the CAR tunnel. Since it was one-way traffic coming behind me I couldn't go back, so I decided just to charge down the tunnel and get out quickly. God only knows what speed I was doing before I reached the bottom of the steep incline, but the vibration on the handlebars was so great that it shook my hands off them. As I crashed, the bike went spinning down the left-hand lane and I got bounced over into the right-hand lane. I swear to this day - that as I was falling off the bike I clearly saw a car coming right behind me, but when I hit the ground - nothing! I picked myself up, walked down the remainder of the slope and picked the bike up, (buckled front wheel) and only THEN did any cars appear. I never ever went back on a bicycle, but any time I've driven through it, guess what I think about? Thanks again.
Lol, 1968 was a fair stretch ago. I moved up here in 1999. Glad you liked the video. I'm 43 now. Glasgow is a funny place but is a pain sometimes trying to find a place if you don't know it. A delivery persons job must get frustrating sometimes, lol.
@@MrIanmc1977 I did the opposite; I moved south to Cambridge in 1999 for 15 years. When I returned, the road planners had really screwed up the city centre's road system and turned it into a cash-cow with bus lanes - which are not all clearly marked for the unwary motorist.
Thanks for posting! I gotta go through to get to work later in the week and I was nervous to go through for the first time. Now I know what to expect.. to get a lot of speed on the down slope!!

The tunnel is a long steep climb. Just imagine those days of three speed bikes. Anyway, a good workout!!
Bet an e bike would be fun tearing up that hill. I'd love to be a kid again, lol 😆 🤣
Less than 3 minutes on electric bike
