I saw him in 1987 in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. This is how I remember him: joyful, flawless, crisp, with that unique power and tone! He was the best!
Bravo Maurice! No doubt one of the finest trumpet players who ever lived! His powerful piccolo trumpet playing has influenced so many trumpet players world-wide!
I heard him many many times live together with Hedwig Bigram. Musicians say that the organ is the queen of the musical instruments... well the trumpet blown by Maurice André for sure is her sister. Every time when I listened to this wonderful music I was close to God. No more words should be spent but simply THANKS! Merci. Grazie. Danke. Gracias. Gregor
Thank you! I believe it was her he performed a tour with. I worked at a theater and heard all three concerts over a weekend. In each half of each concert he played two concerti with the organist playing a solo piece in between. That's 12 concerti played in 3 days. I heard only one slight imperfection each day, not each piece. One slightly miss-hit note, one slightly out of tune and I forget the third. That's one minor error in an entire concert. One of a kind player and person.

She’s damn good and keeps Maurice blissfully satisfied. I can imagine that wasn’t an easy thing to do.

@@gbeachy2010...NOBODY'S INFALLIBLE-(!)
...anyone notice the side glances from Hedwig-(?)
Watson!
Can somebody tell me which TWV the piece has?
TWV 42 b1
Those early morning rehearsals are a bitch. But Maurice sings like an angel.
Interesting that he only dries his mouthpiece once. He usually does it very quickly and often.
...I wonder how Georg P. Telemann would react if he could listen to Maurice and Hedwig perform?
He said he had never heard anyone play that well and never a trumpet with that crisp of a sound!
