It is a new name with more weight. It used to be "College of Fine and Performing Arts", but over the years it has expanded to be much more than that name implies. The new title, "College of the Arts", has been adopted to reflect that expansion. In addition to the name change, the College has been gifted money to build a new three-story tower in Lincoln Hall.
