When I saw this film for the first time I was really missing Kim Basinger's Vicky Vale from the first film but Michelle Pfeiffer was really phenomenal as Catwoman.

my Favorite Batman movie of all time!
Batman Forever is the next film. It is a sequel to this movie, but because Batman Returns was so dark, Warner Bros. decided to go in a different direction with a different director. Michael Keaton declined to be in the sequel so Val Kilmer played Batman instead. It takes place within the same continuity, but it's very different from the previous two films in almost every way.
The only important thing is that we have Alfred and commissioner Gordon in the same Batman movie as the first 2.
Nice reaction! Interesting thing is that M. Keaton and M. Pfeifer were dating before this movie was filmed. But at the time of filming Batman Returns, they were not a couple anymore.
I LOVE this Batman movie so much. Catwoman and Penguin were PERFECTLY cast. I especially loved Michelle Pfeiffer's latex suit and makeup and the way she differentiated the voices between the two personalities of her character. The sexy femme fatale voice of Catwoman, and the hopeless romantic, bubblebrained and good-meaning, but emotionally distraught Selina Kyle.
30:55 - Fun fact, Michelle Pfeiffer trained extensively with a whip so this scene where Catwoman decapitates the mannequin heads with her whip was not only done in one take, it was done on the first take. In the BTS footage, you can see director Tim Burton yell "cut" followed by the movie crew appearing on set applauding her.
I remember seeing behind the scenes on RUclips not long ago.
She also did the jump rope with the whip to celebrate because she was so proud. They were supposed to cut, but still had footage of it and kept it in the movie.
I love this movie. The penguins speech at the end gives me goosebumps all the time. Its so intense and the music is awesome.
I think shreck had a mild redemption arc. At first, he ran while his son defended him. But at the end with the penguin directly, he sacrifices himself to protect his son.

I watched this on vhs when I was 5 years old and my grandpa knew I liked Batman a lot but I don’t think he remembered how much fucked up shit was in this film but it didn’t bother me that much but I always liked Batman Returns but it feels more like a Tim Burton film than a Batman film

My 6th favorite movie of all time, 2nd favorite superhero movie (after the original 2002 Spider-Man), and my all time favorite film score featuring my all-time favorite musical composition ever written (Selina Transforms, the main Catwoman theme).
Still love the first one but for a sequel it’s good. I gave you a heads up the movies after this go weak because Keaton and Burton left franchise after this film. It’s such a shame .
These films were great because the last time we got anything remotely close to the original comics was in the 40s. Then they came out with the ultra-campy version in the 60s. Even though they retconned a lot of stuff for these movies, they are still great fun to watch and really capture the atmosphere and the world from the lore. The Nolan films are worth watching as well. But for me, Mask of the Phantasm is still my favorite Batman movie. The Animated ones just resonate with me more than the live action ones do, even as good as they are, the animated ones just hit home. You should also check all of the above out.

Batarang I think is the right word. Actually just but bat in front of it, and if it doesn't roll of the tongue, just cut the original word in half. Bat-pass (A Bypass) for example.
Penguin's origin in this film is not much different than the origin of another one of Batman's enemies known as Wallin Jones aka Killer Croc because in the comics, Killer Croc was born as a kid with a rare skin condition and his parents didn't want him and they threw him into the sewers.

Overall a great movie, but while Batman needed years of training, Catwoman turned from helpless into badass practically overnight. That´s a bit over the top.😅
