The Heimlich maneuver saved my dog's life when he was a pup.
With the choking PSAs. My mum once saved me from choking when I was like 7. I was eating raw noodle cakes and watching Jimmy Neutron, then I started choking and she was the only one home. She didn't know what to do, so she grabbed me by my ankles and held me upside down and shook me like a bully trying to shake my lunch money out of my pockets. She's a pretty small and skinny woman, but I guess it's just that mum strength that comes out in crazy situations.

There were two anti drug PSAs from my country that I can't find on RUclips. They're really old. I remembered them still.
1. Parents talked about their son who was an over achiever when he was in elementary. Then when he became a teen, everything has been ruined in his life
2. A teen arguing with his father because he wanted to go out night clubbing. Over there, he took esctacy pills and while he dances, he collapsed to the ground.

@3:40, I was going to a high school that was on the top 10 most dangerous schools in NYC, Park West HS (now known as the School of Food and Finance, think about that name). Full of drugs, gangs, and prostitution. And a skinny nerdy white kid like me practically had a target on my back. So the moment I was old enough, I dropped out. Almost took my GED a couple of years later, but found that I was barely able to pass most of the courses. I quit community college just a few months before the 89 Loma Prieta quake, which knocked down the Nimitz Expressway (which at the time I would have been riding the bus on), and part of the Bay Bridge (onwhich I would have been riding the same bus if the timing was fortuitous).
Shoot ahead 30 years, and I had studied everything that interested me, mostly tech, science, math, social studies, and history. I was aiming for an aerospace job, and the GED fib finally was challenged when they wanted me to become a permanent employee, so I raced over to the local technical college, took the test and within about an hour-hour and a half, passed. I probably could have done it 30 years ago, but well, most retail hell jobs at the time didn't care about whether or not I actually passed the test.

The really cheap quality of these ads (not just the anti-drug PSA, but also randomly splicing animation frames as well as poorly recreating the style of Kazuki Takahashi's style at the time because now Kazuki just does over the top stuff that you'd probably put on one side of a van while you put Dark Side of the Moon on the other), is probably what inspired Martin to get into the game back in the 2000s.

I saved myself from choking on gum with the Heimlich Maneuver once. It's the only time I ever actually nearly choked. I had no clue it was invented in the 80's, I thought it was this well known thing that's been around ages!
