What factors do you consider when looking for a great LCS?
a dealer that will work with you on price. at least make me feel like i got a good deal ,lol Employees to be friendly. act like your glad im here and act like you want to be there. the shop will have prices on their cards. try to have everything organized. i hate looking in a case and seeing a 68 mantle a 78 ryan and Ohtani card beside each other. at least group the cards by the decade together. regular store hours.
@@timothylittle8876 good list!
Geoff Wilson's card HQ looks fun. So maybe something like that, but with someone else owning the business instead lol.
@@ACD1994 lol
You should of Tried The awful awful challenge It’s a classic
Beautiful shop, and loaded with vintage stuff. Thanks for sharing. Last year I visited all local shops and rated the best one. I’ll repost the best one in south Florida today.
How’d you decide on best?
Picking the best is subjective as far as what you collect. vintage I would absolutely say Paul's place is by far the best I have seen .
I’ve purchased from Paul twice inside his shop and multiple times at shows. Great guy, great vintage selection, and entirely reasonable prices. I’m happy to hear he will be at the National. I will say hello to him for you Mike, because that’s what nice people do.
Legit lol, Dan
@@JunkWaxHero do you know what his booth will be at the national? There is no PB Collectibles on the interactive map
@@collegehoopsguy I don’t, sorry
Mike, I’m so glad you had the chance to stop into Paul’s shop and meet him. A true gentleman and someone whose passion for the hobby shines through. Paul has helped me acquire numerous grail cards, I see he still has some Mecca double folders-I bought a gorgeous one with Hall of Famer Ed Walsh on it. And yes, his prices are always super reasonable. I look forward to checking out his shop when I’m in Newport next! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! I’ll be seeking out his table at the National!
Sox fan holding a Judge card. I'm surprised it didn't spontaneously combust.
lol I know. But I like Judge
Amazing store and I’d call it easily the best in MA and RI, I’m not familiar with the other New England states. The only thing he kind of lacks in is hobby wax for sale.
Vacation Mike might be my favorite Mike. You just have that extra pep in your step and that childlike enthusiasm for the hobby that pours out into your videos. Not that you don’t in every other video, it just shows even more when you’re free of the burden of work.
Thanks for sharing, Paul’s shop is the perfect kinda cozy I’d expect in New England.
@@samhill93 thanks Sam! Vacation Mike is my favorite Mike too 😂
Great shop great inventory & great guy. Paul is a great person to do business with!
Great shop of vintage cards. Paul is always great to deal with
For sure!
Looks like an awesome shop! I just moved to Plymouth MA so will definitely head down to check out…thx
@@johnmurray6690 nice!
Not even close BBCRI in NK 20 mins away is wayyyyy better. Much better prices on wax and they’ll actually negotiate. Not that this shop is bad, but I was disappointed in his lack of negotiation or cash discount. Cool vintage singles selection though.
My grandfather took me to his local shop in Florida. Ran out of a delicatessen. It was between a Pete Rose rookie (this was very early 90’s btw)
And a Killibrew/Mays/Mantle card 68 Topps #490
I still have that card and it’s something that really can produce that feeling. Reverence for the past and love of the great players of those days.
Nick at Night i think it was running Black and white and some color old Home Run Derby’s didn’t hurt either.
@@MF-hz6xx I loved those old home run derbies. Seemed like it was always Killebrew and Colavito
Paul is awesome! One of my favorite and respected dealers I've ever met.
I feel like the owner will be largely responsible, and not so much the shop itself, for the Best Card Shop award.
The owner is a huge part for sure
Nice Judge Rookie Mike! Newport is quite a spot!
Thanks Adam!
Been to this shop before! Early on in my RUclips channel. Made a video on it years ago. Great shop! Found a 64 Topps Drysdale for $1
@@SammyThunder $1?!? Wow
@@JunkWaxHeroPaul is mighty generous!
Awesome shop, looks like a fun place and a cool guy!
@@TalkingBallCards it really was
Best shop in new England is sportsworld in saugas Massachusetts!!!
Newport, RI is the money area of Rhode Island , a lot of mansions there
Looks like an awesome place Mike. I see a lot of great stuff and just remember that sometimes good things come in small packages as they say. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing. Gave it a "Like"👍👍and until next time ✌out
Thanks Andy!
Perhaps, someday, I will make it that far North to make a visit. Very cool place!
You should!
I will be there next week. Glad you got to stop in
Brick alley or Red Parrot were my kids favorites. My wife and I like the Mooring or the Black Pearl.
Our tour guide said Mooring is Judge Judy’s favorite so you’re in good company 😂
Looks like my kind of shop.
Home run for sure !
I could drop a grand easy peasy …. wow.
Nice snag
Lived in Connecticut for 6 years & never went to Rhode Island
@@Luciddreamer007 I never even drove through it!
Paul is the best! Glad to hear your visit was a success.
Yes!
That was actually a great price. Which is very surprising for Newport RI, where everything is more expensive than the rest of RI.
Wow Paul has a great eye for collecting some awesome cards. You could rank the best LCS in groups by need vintage or need modern or a mix or both.
Yes!
Vermont, Rhode Island, new Hampshire are all nice states. I prefer NH, but that's personal preference.
Great pick up of Aaron Judge rookie card, but didn’t you make a video saying how many cards you could buy if you bought PSA 9 instead of PSA 10?
@@michaelbuffington5403 lol yes but there will be exceptions. Good callout though
Nice looking inventory in PB Collectibles! The universe's antithesis to Card HQ lol. I would most likely pick up an autographed baseball to grade, if I visited. Did you see any cool ones?
@@tmess1979 sorry, I’m not into signed baseballs so I didn’t really look
@@JunkWaxHero Looked like a nice selection of signed baseballs, I might have to give them a call sometime. Holdering them with BAS is a pretty enjoyable experience/grading project overall, too (just be careful sending Ohtani autos, as Beckett is picky on which ones they will actually authenticate).
Cool little shop. Looks like a good selection.
I'm amazed you could find a parking space in Newport in July. In my experience, while it might take 2 1/2 hours from Portland to Newport, but it'll take you another hour to get down Thames St.
Thanks for sharing this shop!
@@ThePennysleever lol so true
Looks like a nice shop, Mike. My closest shop is slightly bigger than that. Keep having fun. Safe travels!
Did you hit Baseball Cards of Rhode Island in North Kingstown, RI? I've been going there for like 25 years... same nice talkative owner the whole time. Selection of single cards is a lot smaller and less vintage than other stores but prices on new stuff is quite good and they host trade nights as well as group breaks that are live streamed.
Unfortunately it never hit my list. No one recommended them across all socials. They sound great though!
Brick Alley is the best - good lunch choice.
Love that shop!!! Seems it would be easier to focus on the cards.
Yes!
Wish he'd update the website, most cards there were sold long ago and only shows 1% of what he has.
Hi Mike. Paul has an amazing looking shop. I look for the shop to be clean and well organized. I like to see vintage and modern cards at the LCS too. Thanks for the video. Enjoy your trip.
@@jimfalkler9361 we have similar criteria!
I'll take a small shop with a friendly welcome, over a big shop with a frosty welcome any day! Sounds like he's got it together, knows his stuff, and is fairly priced. Can't ask for much more.
Looks like you and your family are having a blast!
Enjoying watching your journeys. Thank you.👍
@@Johndeplume. thanks John! It was a great few days
Good stuff Mike! Brick alley is the best!
@@jdssportscards so good!
You should do the mansions when they are decorated for Christmas, amazing!
Oh man that would be cool
I agree there amazing
Still waiting on the Legacy Sports card shop in Saco Mike! Much closer to you and gives the crowd a local feel.
I haven’t been either still so I’m curious
@@TJCloutier a gentleman at the card show Sunday told me some stories about Legacy that made me REALLY want to go
Breakers mansion? Is that where Backyard bros. does their breaks????
Lollllllll
Cool vid! I live not far from there and def have to visit !
You should! Let me know how you like it
I need to check this place out. Thanks for making this video
You should!
don;t sleep on Rhode Island, biggest little state in the union but they got a lot going on... the locals, the food, the music, a lot going on over there. love it, wish I went more often myself
Very cool shop. It's like the size of a booth at a show. There is a similar LCS 1 mile from my home. Although it is bigger than 200sf it's packed to the rafters. The guy is kind of the OG vintage shop in my city so it makes sense. He could have a big shop but chooses the smaller footprint for price obviously.
Yeah I see a lot of benefits to keeping it small
Sweet Breaking Bad t-shirt 🔥
Thank you!
Cool man. My small business actually delivers beverages to the Breakers mansion at the cafe, did you stop in?
Yep, we got Del’s lemonades
Bleachers in Abington is the best shop in New England.
Paul is the best.
Enjoy your vacation Mike...
