Scored today. I'd post the pic but stupid RUclips won't let me here on comments. Anyway, was looking to get my first vintage Evinrude for cheap and a guy posted on for 50 bucks. I think it's a 4hp and everything is there and pulls over. What I didn't expect is he gave me a QD-15 10hp Johnson and a 2hp Belgium made Johnson plus 2 gas tanks. Wow, can't wait to restore them. Going to need a bigger shed. Haha Tim

I've no idea about the Tracker intake but on my 25 and 30 Johnsons the intake hole for the carburetor were slightly different beings the 30 had a bigger throat.
I wanted nothing to do with the 30 carb nor the 30 pump plate. That extra little fitting has nothing to do with the fuel volume, it's lines go to the upper and lower crank bearings and provide a slight pressure of fuel against the bearings. Very slight bit of oil from the mixed fuel (from the block) then helps to very slightly lube the bearings-I'm told. And 2 of 2 ol' Johnson/Evinrude mechanics say the 30 carb is the most finicky in keeping tuned.
I put the 25 pump plate on the 30 powerhead, I used the 25 carb on the 30 intake, I used the larger jet in the carb, I capped the two male fittings at the crank housings-if the 25 and the 35 never needed that line I don't figure that hurts anything.
Yep, those flywheel teeth will get ya. Tore my calloused palm with them.

Hey Ray. Thanks again for tuning in. Actually the hose from the intake recirculates excess fuel to the upper piston through the bypass cover. There is another hose that your describing, I've always called the oiler hose, it's below the intake at the lower crank bearing and yes it pushes oil/fuel mix to the upper crank bearing as you described. Capping those lines is not a good idea. The lower bearing gets lubed just from gravity. Without the oiler hose the upper bearing will burn up! I've had some 70's 25 hp outboards that had the bypass cover hose from the intake also, and those 25's were using the 72D jet, I guess that's why they had the extra hose! Put that oiler hose back on! Thanks again !

I've had alot of luck with anaerobic sealer permatex. It cures without the presence of air . Easy to clean off but it is oil and gas resistant. U should try it sometime.

Amazing how some of those motors have the nipple on that cover and some don’t..1988 30hp parts motor didn’t have that.Hose went from intake up crank like on others.

My johnson 30 1990 has a so called "spacer" between carb and intake to make the intake longer i guess

Look for part number on carb then call Evinrude parts suppliers and give them part number or on side of engine get model and serial number and look on eBay or parts warehouse JT

Hey Cliff. Thanks for tuning in. I talked about this a few episodes ago. I wanted to know what makes a 35 a 35. Like this 93'ish 30 & 35. I use marineengine.com for all outboard schematics and such. Anyway in that episode I compared every single part from the 30 to 35 and could not find a single difference, and I mean everything! Right down to the gears in the gearcase and couldn't find a thing. You would think it would be just a larger jet in the carb, which is usually the case, but no, same jets. Now these are 90's models, I didn't look at 70's & 80's models and do comparisons . So to this day I still don't know what makes a 93'ish 35 a 35. It's Crazy! Hahaha If you ever find out please let me know ! Thanks again !
