  • This is a little tip I have learned to avoid my 7 pin connector from coming lose. You can use zip ties or a Velcro strip like I used to hold it in place.

OMG. I had this problem! Wish I knew this before picking up my new used trailer

Simple solution to a common occurrence. I had a different issue with my 7 pin plug. A few weeks ago, we arrived at our campsite and I prepared to unhook my 5th wheel. Well, during the process I got to talking with a camping neighbor and got distracted. Thought I had everything ready to go, got in the truck, pulled out and "BANG", forgot to unplug the 7 pin connector. Well that flap worked real good. So good that the connector stayed connected to the truck but ripped the cable out of the box on the front of the 5th wheel. Lesson learned: Save the bs for after you're done getting set up. 😅

@@Turtle3863 Surprisingly, no. Just had to spend some time stripping and re-splicing all the wires.

Good idea this. I keep all my old bike tires... use 'em to make long-lasting rubber bands for all sorts of things. Might be a useful alternative to a velcro strip.

Great to see this mod in a video ! I've been thinking about this mod to help us out. We have a wireless brake controller with it's own 7 pin adapter that connects into both the trailer's 7 pin harness and the tow vehicle's 7 pin outlet. Double trouble, is what I call it....Thanks again !!!

The lesson is that if you use things as designed you will save yourself problems.

Also, do not depend on a flimsy piece of plastic and a spring that is exposed to the elements.
