Midsummer Day in Finland is a time for cherished traditions. It's a day of cleaning and decorating to prepare for the festivities. As we are currently in a camping car, I ensured it is spotless and beautifully adorned. Cleaning is an integral part of our Midsummer tradition, symbolizing the removal of negative energy and making space for positivity. After the cleaning, I prepared a delicious cow's milk crumble using fresh milk from our family's cows. The crumble was garnished with maple syrup, strawberry jam, chopped walnuts, and a vibrant summer flower. Later in the day, we escaped to our peaceful family forest cottage. We kickstarted our visit by setting a warm, crackling fire before heading out with my husband to the nearby river for fishing. Fortunately, we had reeled in three fish, seasoned with a pinch of salt and grilled to perfection for a delightful snack. To cap off an eventful day, we were treated to a riveting encounter as a bird valiantly defended its nest from a prowling cat. The cat ultimately retreated, acknowledging the resilient nature of the bird's protective instincts. HAPPY SUMMER TO ALL
