@@jeffhammond8969 It looks like you installed the new grill that came with the new speaker, not the original color-matched brown Porsche grill. I have burgundy leather door cards and matching burgundy grills. I'm OK with an ABS spacer (at long as it's removable if ever desired) but would like my original grill to fit and still look original (as much as possible). I cannot locate a speaker that will fit the door because of the limited depth (and thus the need for a spacer). But I am am wondering if anybody out there knows of an exact-fit replacement speaker - I'd prefer this over the spacer.
The Retro Sound 4x6 R 463 N is slim enough for replacement of stock front door speakers. I just installed a set in a newly acquired 87 944. These speakers are okay in sound quality as they fit a lot of GM truck front dash applications. At $94 from Retro Sound, they are not cheap but you can keep the factory grills.
6x9? Nice.
Little baby 4*6's 😓
@@HardwayLearning it isn't all about the size of the grill, it is about the motion of the cone
Anybody know if there a drop-in speaker that will accept the original Porsche speaker grill? Even better if that new "riser" plate wasn't needed.
Well, kind of. What I did was make a spacer plate out of ABS plastic and mounted it behind the factory grill and just used slightly longer screws
